From vegetarian to vegan back to vegetarian, anybody else?!


Question: From vegetarian to vegan back to vegetarian, anybody else!?
I've tried to be vegan for about 4 months, but got such bad headaches from soy and such bad sugar craving from the increased amount of carbs in my diet, let alone the lack of energy, that I went back to being ovo-pesco-vegetarian!.!.!. has anybody else been though this!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've fluctuated a lot too!. I went straight from being a completely rabid carnivore to a hard-core vegan, but that only last five months!. Then I went back to being regular vegetarian for a while after a NYE bender with creamy cocktails!. But then back to vegan again, and even now I'm far from perfect (especially outside of the home when other people are cooking for me)!. It takes a bit of effort to get the diet and attitude right but it can be done!

Feeling bad about it, giving into negative feelings and thinking "so I may as well just eat dairy all the time then" and feeling guilty about it all the time won't help either!. You've got to approach things positively and keep all the reasons in mind: animal cruelty, dairy/veal connection etc!. as well as your own wellbeing!. You've got to get a diet and lifestyle in order that works for you!. And it just doesn't happen overnight: it's taken (and is still taking) me years!.

Yes, I was so unhealthy, tired, lethargic, always catching bugs, terrible skin and hair!. My GP told me is was due to me being vegan!. I reintroduced the dairy, and have been fine for 18+years now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been through this a lot!. When I was vegan I was always sick and had absolutely no energy to do anything!. I had to go back to being a vegetarian for my health!. A lot of the dangers from being vegan comes from not getting enough of the vitamin B12!. Without this, none of the other vitamins absorb into your body very well and once you have a B12 deficiency, you can't get it back!. Be careful and I hope this helps you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sorry but you were just not a smart vegan!. People often don't have knowledge on vegan nutrition so if they became weak or tired they blame veganism and not their ignorance!.

If you got headaches from soy you could've just avoided soy products!. Eating soy isn't a prerequisite for being vegan!. The thing about sugar cravings is strange because if you increased your carbohydrate intake you would have less cravings for it!. Your problem may have been that you ate refined grains and not whole grains!. Just stay away from white rice, white pasta, and white bread!. Simple as that!.

I'm a vegetarian and I sometimes get headaches!. But always make sure you get a least 8 glasses of water a day!. And for energy you can take Vitamin B complex!. It will turn your urine bright yellow!. But, It really has helped me out!. And I'm more energetic!. I have always had bad sugar cravings!. I just thought maybe that was normal though!.
