Question: I wanna become a Vegan ; Is becoming a Vegan hard !?!?
If anyone has any experience with this please answer ; and also how shall i start !?!? I don't know I just need guidance is there anything i can do to make it easier because I am a huge meat fan =/ but i'm looking to change that!. I would like to start tomorrow =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly!? weening yourself off of Dairy and Meat (which is vegan, btw!. Vegetarian is non-meat only) Is actually alot harder than just going cold turkey and dealing with the repercussions!. That means, No meat, No cheese, or any dairy product of any kind, No eggs, ect!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not really, you buy Soy milk!.!.!.ckinin paties(meatless paties)(boca!.!.!.morningstar) and you can even buy breackfast foods!.!.its not that hard!. Soy slices are cheese(artifical) and do the same nutrients!. I recommend you fry tofo though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It would help if you were to actually relocate to one of Vega's planets!. Get to know the local customs, and then apply for citizenship!. If you want it bad enough, you can do it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My husband was a vegan for a while!.!.!. it was hard cooking for him!. There are a lot of good recipes on the internet, it's just tough to always find ingredients that are completely vegan!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why be one if you love meat so much!?

Start by cutting down on your amounts of meat and milk little by little!. It is not easy or healthy to just stop eating meat from one day to another!. Before you know it, you won't even want to eat meat anymore and your metabolism will be fine!.

If you find out that being a vegan isn't for you, at least you'll loose a couple of pounds in the process!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

becoming isn't hard, being is hard!. And hard is really the wrong word!. It's time consuming!. you have to resign yourself to longer food prep and maybe higher grocery bills b/c you have to shop at whole foods (expensive!)--unless you're going to be one of those 'grilled soy-cheese sandwich' vegans who eats vegan junk food instead of really exploring the world of fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, etc!. To get started I'd recommend a subscrption to a vegan/vegetarian cooking magazine!. The other thing to think about is: just HOW vegan are you going to be!? are you going to eat honey!? and are you going to be a total pain in the *** when people invite you to dinner, checking labels and obsessing!? I used to be strict, and then started relaxing when it came to life outside my house--when friends cook for me, I don't worry about it, because it's a lot to ask for a regular person to cook vegan food!. My mom used to always say "I made you a baked potato--that's vegan!" also when traveling in parts of the world where I'm unlikely to find vegetarian restarants, let alone vegan ones, I find I have a better experience if I just open myself up to the local cuisine!. Otherwise it's a lot like traveling somewhere and never leaving your hotel room!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ok my suggestions!.!.!.

Go cold turkey, it was WAY easier than trying to ween off!.

It may be difficult at first but after about a week even the notion you may have ever eaten meat will make you sick!.

Second, get a good vitamin supplement!. I personally have balanced my vegan diet well enough to not need supplementation, however its a good idea for starting vegans to have some help in the nutrient department!.

Third, think of the animals, that was my motivation!. Meat!.org (meet your meat) is a great "scare you straight" video!.

Fourth, don't dive into eating tofu and eggplant (both are delicious by the way) but rather eat stuff you would eat anyway but with vegan adjustments!. For some ideas check out PETA's Accidentally Vegan list (http://www!.peta!.org/accidentallyVegan/)!.

Fifth, ease your way into the staples of a vegan diet!. I am a huge fan of tofu however I understand it has a negative connotation!.

1) be a vegetarian for 6 months, see how your body is reacting to that!. - it is easier to be a vegan after you are a vegatarian!.

Yes very hard because the temptation of meat will always be around you!. When I was a little kid I use to be a vegan!. All I did was eat vegtables and fruits etc!. Then one day I got a whif of some meat cooking and the rest just went downhill from there!. For starters try to slowly back away from meat gradually each day!. It depends!. If meat is a huge part of your diet, and you eat it often (like me) then YES! I tried a while ago!. I only lasted for 20 days! You say you are a huge meat fan, then you shouldnt become vegan!. If you like meat, continue with it! There is noting wrong with the food God provides for us!. also, if you really like meat, and then just suddenly stop eating it, you can get sick!. And, once you are vegan, after a month or so, you cant go back to meat without a doctors approval!. Your body will not be used to digesting it, and you can get really sick!. Its a hard decision! Going from a Meat lover to straight Vegetarian,could be dangerous to your health, it will have to be a slow process! You must keep your health intact during the Vegetarian cross over! To make any quick or too fast of changes could and most likely will effect not only your immune system, but maybe even your health if done incorrectly!

Your body will react better with small changes at a time! First you should have a complete physical exam, to make sure there are no real health issues first, then explain to your doctor what you want to do about becoming a Vegetarian and he or she will give you great guidance to a healthier way of achieving your Vegetarian goals!

Because of the fact, your cutting meats out of your daily in take, you will have to make up for them in different ways, like Multi vitamins etc!. and your doctor will be able to help you in choosing the best supplements for you! Red and White meats are not your enemy, the quality and quanities that you eat are! You must always remember that! Meat products are good for you too! It all depends on the quality, quanities and how there prepared!

So never just go cold turkey, and stop eating all meats, it will have to be done at a slow rate and carefully watched, so not to put your health in big jeopardy! Talk to your doctor, before even starting such a change to your body! There are many factor at stake and shouldn't be ignored! Your body may not react to well by cutting out all meats, so seeing your doctor first would be the first step to take, before trying to just go straight to being a Vegetarian! well it is great that you want to make a change but i dont think going straight to vegan would be right!.
here is my suggestion: start slow!. cut out one type of thing from your diet at a time!. stop eating fish one week, the next week cut out chicken and other poultry, and the next red meat!. i would suggest being a vegetarian for at least a month, but more would be better!. then, slowly cut out other things -milk, butter, ice cream, etc!.

i've been a vegetarian for a year and am now gradually making the change to be vegan!. it's really not that hard if you do it very slowly and keep your willpower!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey, ive been vegetarian for 4 years and only recently just became vegan (about a month)!. It is best to take baby step's in reaching up to becoming vegan if your eating meat !.
e!.g rule out red meats, then eventually chicken then fish, and then dairy products and other!. It's not something you can do overnight, i tried once and the cravings for cheese were overbearing haha!. But i suggest you do what ive jsut said if your looking to be a vegan long term!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No not 'hard'!. It's easy!. It's all about self education etc!. How to start is you just begin by altering your meals one by one!. Take out the beef from your spaghetti sauce and put something else in there instead!. Eventually you'll learn that those sauces from the store are filled with salt, corn syrup, etc and you'll learn to make your own sauce!. You'll learn why eating actual oranges is far better than frozen concentrated OJ, etc!. etc!. You will learn to avoid food additives, preservatives, flavour enhancers, and the like!.

If you are a huge meat fan, then you many want to try some fake meats, they are pretty good -- especially the ones from Taiwan are very much like the real thing!.

You can check out books from the library such as Becoming Vegan, American Vegetarian Cookbook from the Fit For Life Kitchen (great book), and whatever you can get your hands on!. Read read read!. also join in a local vegan potluck group!. I joined EarthSave and it was great!.!.!. potlucks, guest speakers, like-minded others, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
