How do v&v's feel about hunting?!
From what I can gather, many of you choose to become vegetarian or vegan becuase of the way the animals are raised and treated!. However, what about hunting!? The animals are not pumped with hormones and antibiotics, nor are they confined to small areas, etc!.!.!. When they are killed, it is done quickly and humanely!. I believe in hunting as a sport and education!. But, I also believe in the conservation of them as well!. If you cant eat it,you shouldn't kill it!. If you are against eating meat and are a vegetarian, you loose certain nutrients that you body needs!. One of my friends used to be a vegetarian untill her hair fell out!. The doctor told her that she needed red meat in her diet!. Sure enough, her hair came back!. If God did not intend for us to hunt animals, he would have just made this world out of fruits, and vegetables alone!. What people call cruel or barbaric when someone hunts is not true!. It is only cruel when you intend on injuring the animal, and then letting it slowly suffer and die!. Death is only a natural & necessary part of life so that others will survive!. For all the people that dont believe in hunting, I have a question for you!?!?!? If all hunting of every kind was banned, and the deer population exploded,would you change your mind knowing that many of the deers was hit by cars and had suffered a long and agonising death!?!? Would you want to increase your chances of hitting a dear, and totaling a your car, possibly loosing your own life over it!?!?!? Them being hunted is also to help them as well!. Their area to live is getting smaller, while our area to live is getting bigger with more traffic!. So, hunting helps both sides,people and animals!. Barbaric, I dont think so, just way too many people that never grown up after seeing Bambi killed as a child and has always been over emotional about it every since!. i don't believe in eating meat, but if people are going to eat it i would MUCH RATHER them kill it themselves!. the only hunters that i really can't stand and always get mad at are the ones who kill the animal just to mount it and don't care to eat the meat!. if you're going to kill an animal, don't do it for sport!. that's the meanest thing!.!.!.!.!.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that I grew up poor, and there were times when I was a kid when my dad would go kill a deer because we couldn't afford to buy enough food for my family!. i may not agree with it now, but he was doing the only thing he knew how to do for us!. it was a fast, easy way to make sure his kids were fed!. there are times, even in today's world, when people feel like they need to hunt to survive, and i certainly cannot condemn those people!. i'm not saying hunting is the only option, but i think it's important to understand that sometimes people feel like they HAVE to do it!. anyway, sorry to give you my life story!.!.!.!.!.it's just hard to judge someone until you've been on both sides of the fence!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well I am against all killing!.!.!. And I really hate hunting!. It is senseless, we are living in 2008, hunting is one of the greatest showings of barbarism second only to maybe the death penalty!.

Although I am extremely opposed to it, I would rather people got their meat by hunting and fishing rather than from commercially produced animals!. That way their meat intake would likely decrease, they would be healthier, and at least the animal had a somewhat decent life up until their demise!.

I think, I wouldn't mind it if hunting was done via hand to paw or hoof combat!. I think if it has every danger in it for you as it does the animal!. Go for it! If you have an equal chance to die as they do- go for it! Maybe it will keep the human population down to!. But in the back of my mind, I just think it's kinda screwed up!. Poor little deer, hanging out- finding some grub- about to find go home to his companion deer with his newborns- then bang! Shot in the head!.

I would never hunt, but I'm not going to stop people who do hunt!. For one, it's none of my buisness!. They can do what they want, but I do think if they hunt for JUST for sport, I think that's just wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I am vegan and I don't find anything wrong with hunting because, like you said, there's no suffering throughout the animal's life!. It's relatively quick!. I personally wouldn't do it though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I actually chose to become vegetarian because I decided that I wouldn't eat anything that I would not personally kill and butcher!. I think that many meat eaters would balk at killing an animal and then cutting it up and eating it!. They are, however, spared that because we buy our meat neatly packaged with no hint of the animal from which it came!.

if animal populations are not controlled, the population becomes too much for an environment and then you get problems such as hitting them with your cars, and also environmental problems!.
for example in hamilton county, there are so many deer that all of the underbrush and leaves are completely stripped from the forests where the deer can reach them (6 feet up)!. thus many deer are starving to death!. your "animal cruelty" ideals justify hunting in this case!. honestly, would you rather have someone quickly kill the animal for meat or have it starve to death in the woods!?
responsible hunting is the perfect solution to over population problems and also keeps the animals as a herd healthy!.
please look at hunting in this perspective to try to open your mind up to other opinions and understand the conservation ideals that most hunters have!.

i bet if you could ask the deer i saw being eaten alive by 3 wolves which is better, it would pick the bullet!. oh, and i'm not aware of anyplace where trophy hunters can waste the meat!. every state i've hunted in had very clear laws that require ALL of the meat to be packed out BEFORE the antlers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I do prefer it over factory farms, however not everyone who hunts makes sure that the animals die quickly and humanely!. I have heard many men who hunt talk about things that happened to the animals while hunting that really bothered me!. And I have not just heard it from the same group of hunters, and most of them laughed about the animal suffering!. Some hunters use those traps and animals get stuck for days in them, often times found trying to chew their own leg off to get free!. So if the hunters are as humane as possible, don't do it for sport, don't use those traps or any other cruel method (chasing bears up trees, and I don't think we should be hunting bears at all really), and at least feel a little bit of sympathy for the animals then they are not so bad!. Especially if it means cutting out most meat from the grocerie store where most of the meat is from factory farms!. And I also really hate hearing how proud some hunters are about killing an animal, I cannot see how killing could bring pride!. And don't hang the heads on the walls :OWww@FoodAQ@Com
I grew up eating only wild game!. I would hunt and fish with my Dad but I was never cool with it!. I just can't do it!. I tried to help him clean a deer!.!.!.!.Yeah, I just can't do it!. I can't even watch it!. My family kills its animals in a humane way but!.!.!.I can't be a part of it in any way!. It makes me ill!. I think hunting for sport alone is just wrong!. How can anyone get any enjoyment out of chasing & frightening an animal to exhaustion then killing it!. It makes me shudder just to think of it!.

There is nothing worse than someone who eats meat but doesn't want to think about where it came from!. They go to the supermarket and buy the neatly packaged "beef" or "pork" (see - the meat isn't even labeled by it's animal name, so the disconnect widens) and tell themselves it's not a chunk of dead animal!. Or you have to love people who won't eat meat off bones cause it's "gross"!. Where the hell do they think boneless meat came from!?
If you can kill the animal yourself, and butcher it yourself, at least you are being honest with yourself about what you're eating!.

Well, humans far out populate animals!. We over hunt, over fish, over harvest, etc!. Sport hunting is just moronic!. Hunting for food!.!.!. if following traditional ways of using every part of the animal and making it last as long as possible, preserving it, etc!. would of course be better!.!.!. but for me, better is not good enough!. It's just a lesser evil!. People hunt because they are too dumb to be able to farm and grow their own food -- and in this day and age, there is not excuse for not growing your own food -- it's easier than it's ever been to grown one's own food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
