Three things come to mind -
- Is it ethical to play God!?
- I never really liked meat when I did eat it!.
- There are still health hazards to eating meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!.
Ethical reasons aside, I don't like animal flesh and I have no desire to eat something so unhealthy!.
Furthermore, lab-grown "test tube" meat is likely cloned from stem-cells and therefor would not be cruelty-free!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

lab grown meat!? that just sounds wrong!. i don't like the taste/texture of meat to begin with, so no i wouldn't regardless of where it's from!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would give it a go!. If it didnt taste any good then I would probably pass the next timeWww@FoodAQ@Com
Right now, at this point of my life - no!. It is still an animal and I am leaner and healthier!. I love my new lifestyle and finding new food and recipes every day!.
Now, if it were years back, I wouldn't have been vegetarian, and certainly not vegan as I am now; Because I would have never actually learned about where meat comes from!.(the details) I wish animals could be like old times on a happy little farm!. (Well until they were killed, but you get my point)Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. I will forever and ever be a vegetarian!. I simply cannot eat something that has a face!. And I would never go back to eating meat, especially if it's lab grown!. Did you hear they're goign to clone meat now!? Am I glad I'm keeping my system clean!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, I would!. I became a vegetarian because I don't think that another sentient being should have to die for the sake of my culinary pleasure!. If no sentient being dies then!.!.!. well!.!.!. bring on the steak! It's really delicious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No I wouldn't!.
Reason:
Although it's lab grown it's still an animal product because it was grown from animal cells!. Even though there was little exploitation involved I don't find meat to be appealing in any sense!. Animal cells and/or DNA are also used in GMO plant foods quite frequently and I also avoid these as much as possible!.
How much energy would it require to grow meat in a lab!? We would all be using so much power to produce this meat in labs to satisfy everyone that it would add greatly to environmental degradation!.
I much prefer the health of plant-based foods!. I look back on my days of eating meat and think, "what was I thinking!?" I was a picky eater back then and had no interest in eating vegetables, until I fully realized what I was putting my body through!. At 22 years old I was considered hypertensive and on my way to diabetes and being overweight!. Thankfully I have turned my back on animal products and reversed my medical problems!. I am starting a new life!.
I would never go back to meat or dairy, even if lab-grown, because I seriously feel that I would die prematurely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!.!.!.!.!.!.it would still be animal meat!.!.!.!.!.still noWww@FoodAQ@Com
i still wouldnt eat it!. its still meat!. meat just grosses me out!. and if it were meant to be grown, it would have been popping out of the dirt with the tomatoes and the corn stalks since long ago!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
A very big maybe, just chicken and turkey and not very often!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
even if its not cruel!.!.!.!.it still just sounds so wrong! i definitely wouldnt do it!. before i went vegetarian i didnt really like meat anyways!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I do eat some meat and what meat I do eat I do not consider to be cruelly produced!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The problem with this is that cruelty and meat will always be synonymous!. How many animals are going to have to die in the study of that lab grown meat!?
No I wouldn't eat it anyway, meat is repulsive to me!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eating flesh is unhealthy and inhumane, no matter how they get the meat off the bone!. Eating anything that has a brain is just wrong!. Like you, I will never eat meat again!.
To Spring Has Sprung Me - Let me rephrase my answer then!.!.!.anything that SHOULD have a brain or would normally have a brain - that is just wrong!. A baby born without a brain (and there have been cases of this) is essentially for all intents and purposes still a baby!. A cloned animal even though it is a clone, is still an animal!. For flesh to become flesh, there has to have been some origin, hence cells!. It's still cells off of an animal!. I just don't believe in using any form of flesh including cells from an animal!.
Maybe I go a little bit deeper with this subject than most people!. I don't know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It can't ever be cruelty free, seeing as how they have to be killed to become meat!. I already made my choice to go veg, so I'm not going back, whatever the reasons!. Although, It would be nice if there were more humane ways of killing animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well, i would probably not eat meat, as I have never done so before!. - I would try it once!. - But I have to know that the whole industry was cruelty free! - so that being said, I will probably never be eating meat!., But I do not see it as a sad thing, but rather a good ethical moral consistencyWww@FoodAQ@Com
The lab grown meat isn't a possibility anymore, it's a reality!. Marketing of the product is still MANY years off though!. I would think those who don't eat meat from an ethical standpoint might try it!. I myself would definitely try it!. Considering all of the manufactured processed chemical stuff out there now, it's really not that odd to conceive of growing meat!.
Hormones and antibiotics wouldn't be necessary either so the new meat might be a step in the right direction on more than one front!.
kamie/Twyzted--you didn't read the whole question, it's about lab-grown meats!.
Kim--I'm pleasantly surprised that you would try it!. That showed without a doubt that your interest in the animals welfare is genuine!.
adelitae--if humans were meant to fly, we'd have wings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I stopped eating meat for ethical reasons ; I didn't like the way animals were being raised and slaughtered!.
But!.!.!.!.!. if you can raise animal tissue, like muscle, without animal suffering!.!.!. then I'm interested!. I'd want to know a lot more though, like nutritional information and energy requirements!.
What food for thought!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Iwould!. I stopped eating meat for ethical reasons, so if no animal was harmed when producing the meat, then I would eat it!. Plus, if more people started eating this lab-grown meat, eventually (it might take a while) factory-farmed meat will become outdated, and animals won't be used for their flesh anymore!. It also might solve some world starvation issues!. I think it's a good idea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I stopped eating meat when I was seven and found out where it came from!. My Mom fully supported me and later became vegetarian herself!. Then I started learning all the health benefits of being a vegetarian!. I couldn't ever eat flesh again no matter where it came from!. I think, after all this time, it would probably kill me!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I have always encouraged biological living and to live in accordance with nature!. Nature will protest against those who violate its laws; and as a result humans will suffer from a host of diseases!. Why would anyone introduce something so unnatural into their stomachs!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
no i wouldn't, but i think this would be a great option for people who eat meat because no animals would be treated unhumanelyWww@FoodAQ@Com
I'm pretty suspicious of the health value of anything grown in a lab, but if it was truly healthy, took no life, and tasted like (along with having the nutrients of) the real thing, it would be like a godsend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Nah!. I'm one of those oddballs that doesn't eat meat because it doesn't taste yummy!. :3Www@FoodAQ@Com
Nope!. It wouldn't change my mind at all on the subject!. I'm a vegetarian for life!. I'm very healthy and I love the taste of my current foods, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it!. I *will* try fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains that I haven't tried before, but lab-grown (and naturally-grown) animal-bits - no way!Www@FoodAQ@Com
No I wouldn't!. I no longer enjoy the taste or smell of meat!. also we do not know what the possible side effects or implications of eating labratory grown meats are!. Like every thing developed in a lab, I'm sure it too would be tested on animals!. So I don't think I would even consider it cruelty free either!. Interesting question though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
lab-grown!? yuch! that's just not right!
i cant see myself eating something that came from a test tube anytime soon
biogenesis = yuckWww@FoodAQ@Com

No, meat is just so!.!.!.CancerousWww@FoodAQ@Com
no!. it freaks me out anyways that it was walking around a week ago and now its on my plate!. disgusting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I do eat meat without cruelty!. It's called hunting!. I honor the deer and fowl I kill by killing quickly and efficiently and using as much of the carcass as I can!. With the fish I catch, I eat as much as I can and use the rest as fertilizer!.
I don't like the idea of lab-grown meat!. I just don't trust it to taste as good as something that lived wild and free!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
