What made you go vegetarian or vegan?!

Question: What made you go vegetarian or vegan!?
Answers:
I became a vegan, because I do not like the idea that a cow carries her baby for over 9 months!. Than after giving birth, her instead of the calf getting the milk!. The calf is feed very poor foods so it can be a tender veal!.

As a woman,(I am 31)!. When I have my child, I would never want any person, to take away my child!. So I can not support a industry that uses that method dominantly!. I understand there are farms that do not, but 90% (by tyson, cargrill, smithfield) of beef and dairy cows in this country are raised on intensive farming conditions!.

Money is power!. I use my money to support companies that are ethically inlined with my morals!. I have a choice!. I choose to not support an industry that cause so many cruelties!. I also buy from companies that do not employee children in developing countries!.

Last summer I went full vegeterian and now Im working towards a vegan goal after seeing the living conditions of dairy cows!. Ive done my research and am very unhappy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been vegan for 29 years!. What made me become a vegan!? Hmm!.!. that's a good question!. I want to save the planet!. I think I've probably saved the lives of 300 innocent african children by not eating meat!. You see!.!.!. im a giver!. and I have a big heart!. Small steps!. Meat = childrens lives!. Think about it!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

several reasons for me:

1!. religious reasons!.!.!.!.I don't think God intended animals for food since the Garden of Eden and Heaven were/are vegetarian!.

2!. animal rights!.!.!.!.I wouldn't eat my dog, what's different about a cow or a pig!? I don't want to eat something that has the capacity for suffering!.

3!. my health!.!.!.!.this is my second round of going veg!.!.!.I had a lapse a while back because I couldn't get the nutrients I needed when I was in a college dorm!. However, I was at the healthiest point in my life when i was vegetarian!.

4!. the environment!.!.!.!.i think the earth and it's creatures deserve more respect than most people give it!. we're here to live on the earth and from it!.!.!.!.not to destroy it!.

*Loveage!*Www@FoodAQ@Com

very simple !.I love animals!.They do share this planet with us !.they do feel the pain and suffering !.We have no rights to kill and eat them !.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I became vegan out of respect for animals rights!.

I also am capable of compassion, unlike my carnivore counterparts!.

Edit: And welcome back Scotty :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I hate the way animals are treated, but I have to admit that I don't think that eating meat is a bad thing!. It is natural but just not for me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I first went vegetarian after reading Eric Schlosser's "Fast Food Nation"!. He dedicated a few chapters to the meat industry!. I was sickened and literally started crying!.

I subsequently watched the "Meet your Meat" videos and that further reinforced my decision!.
I haven't been eating dairy for a while now, but I was still using honey!. When I found out what bees go through to make the honey (their food for the winter!), I made the decision to go vegan!.

I'm glad you're back Scottie! I always love your answers!. :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com
