Medically speaking, those little white marks that sometimes appear as dots or lines on the fingernail are known as leukonychia!. There are several possible causes for the discoloration, but the most common are mild trauma, a fungal infection, skin conditions, or nutritional deficiencies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

White spots can be caused by everyday wear and tear!.

It is also said to be a zinc deficiency!. Try boosting your zinc intake by eating almonds and other seeds & nuts!. also, swap white bread to wholemeal bread!. The bad news is that it can take 6 months for a zinc deficiency to correct itself!.

Vegans get a LOT of calcium from Tofu!. It has 500mg of calcium per 100g so it's a great way to get calcium!
(According to my ''You are What You Eat'' Book)

Hope this helps!. ^_^Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cow milk is not something humans ever need to drink!.

Soy milk does have quite a bit of calcium!. Broccoli has a lot of calcium!. You can also get vegetarian / vegan calcium supplements!.

The only vitamin a vegan would need to take is b12!. I take a vegetarian multi vitamin, not sure I really need to, but I have for years and seem to always get sick when I stop taking it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with some of the above posters!.!.!. those white spots on nails are often caused by trauma (like banging your nail against something, or having some sharp pressure on it)!. It can also be caused by zinc deficiencies!. So it's not related to drinking milk!.

You can drink soymilk which is just fine-- just make sure it is fortified with vitamins B12, calcium, magnesium, etc!. This has nothing to do with your nails, just for your overall health!. Just make sure you are taking a multivitamin as well to improve your zinc levels, which may be related to your nails (though not necessarily if they are a result of nail trauma)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
