Soy research has mixed messages!. I'm sure it's fine in moderation though!. You know how it goes with info!. here though!. If it's pro-soy it must be true, if it's anti-soy it must be meat industry propaganda!. That's called wearing blinders!. Of course, it's you whose chosen what audience to ask!.

You might take notice how any study that hints that cholesterol may be overblown in it's unhealthiness is completely disregarded because it's pro-meat!. But, as soon as any anti-meat research comes out it's headline news here!.

Still, no research nor study regarding the food industry can be trusted!. There's too much $$$ at stake and all sections are fighting for an ever larger piece of the action!.

I'm sorry if stating it like it is hurts anybody's feelings!. But what I've said is true!. The bias on the whole in here is more than what you'd expect and the need to "slip on the waders" is all too often!.

"Correlation doesn't equal causation!. Who funded that study!? The dairy industry!? The meat industry!?"--typical!.

Kazuo---I guess that means the soy industry lobbyists run the FDA then right!? Fair is fair right!? $$$ talks!.

EDIT: Here, for example, is a pro-vegetarian recommendation!. The article announces "A large study offers the strongest evidence yet that a diet the government recommends for lowering blood pressure can save people from heart attack and stroke!."

http://health!.yahoo!.com/news/ap/diet_hea!.!.!.

http://www!.nhlbi!.nih!.gov/hbp/prevent/h_e!.!.!.

Notice the recommendations of the diet!. Up to 2 servings of lean meat per DAY!. 5 servings of beans per WEEK!.

Because of that do you think the study was funded by the meat industry as your default setting!? I would hope you're smarter than that!.

Like I said when the article was posted in V & V originally!. A diet that doesn't disqualify an entire section of the food industry may actually warrant some merit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Soy is supposed to be good for you, yeah!. It's full of protein!.!.!.
"The soybean is one of a large family of plants called legumes!. Legumes tend to be higher in protein than other plant foods -- in fact, the mature soybean is about 42-percent protein, 33-percent carbohydrate, 20-percent oil, and 5-percent hull!."

See link for reference -- interesting article on soy called "All About Soy"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This info at the links may help!. Soy beans are very high in phytic acid!. Phytic acid reduces assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc!. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting and long, slow cooking!. Look at the research and make your own decisions!.

Studies indicating soy’s antithyroid effects go back almost 60 years and continue to the present!.

Many meat companies are supporting the "anti-soy", "soy is bad for you" "soy is not a good source of protein" blah,,, why do you think they are doing this!? do you really think meat company gaints care about the health of the average joe! no!. they just want to make more money!.

the less people eat soy the meat companies make money!

Conclusion: Nothing is based on only one study!. There are studies that show the miracles of soy, and the "dangers"!. I eat soy every day, and even people who eat meat etc, eat it because it used in A LOT of processed foods these days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Soy, I've heard from an expert nutritionist, is really dangerous!. He told a class of us that its effects are too closely linked to the female hormone oestrogen!.

I have refused ever since to have anything to do with it!. Men, in particular, should avoid it, imo!.

It's OK for the Japanese because a) they're used to it and b) they don't eat it (wisely) in big amounts!.

Here in the West we've gone overboard for soy products and it's not a good thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes! It is a good source of protein, but if does not provide all the amino acids that are needed for your body to use the proteins!. The best way to make up for the lack of amino acids is to eat rice, whole grain bread, or get a amino acid supplement!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Correlation doesn't equal causation!. Who funded that study!? The dairy industry!? The meat industry!? These industries do fund anti-veg studies!. Here's an example of an anti-vegan study funded by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association: http://www!.vegsource!.com/articles2/ncbs_!.!.!.

The Weston A!. Price Foundation advocates a diet based on animal foods such as butter, fish, eggs, shellfish, lard, cod liver oil, organ meats, and whole unpasteurized non-homogenized raw milk from healthy cows (for babies, children and adults)!.

The Weston Price website states that “people with high cholesterol live the longest!.”

The Weston A!. Price Foundation recommends ignoring public health recommendations on reducing saturated fat and consuming up to 25% of total calories from saturated fat!.

The Weston Price Foundation warns of the “dangerous effects of a diet devoid of healthful animal products!."

The Tufts Nutrition Navigator scores each website they review on a 25 point scale!. The Weston Price website scored a total of 10 out of 25 points which is rated as “Unacceptable!.” Their accuracy rating is a 1 out of 10!.

Get the picture!?!?

Info on soy:

"FDA approved a health claim that can be used on labels of soy-based foods to tout their heart-healthy benefits!. The agency reviewed research from 27 studies that showed soy protein's value in lowering levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad" cholesterol)!."

"Soy protein products can be good substitutes for animal products because, unlike some other beans, soy offers a 'complete' protein profile!. Soybeans contain all the amino acids essential to human nutrition, which must be supplied in the diet because they cannot be synthesized by the human body!. Soy protein products can replace animal-based foods--which also have complete proteins but tend to contain more fat, especially saturated fat--without requiring major adjustments elsewhere in the diet!."

"FDA determined that diets with four daily soy servings can reduce levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), the so-called "bad cholesterol" that builds up in blood vessels, by as much as 10 percent!. This number is significant because heart experts generally agree that a 1 percent drop in total cholesterol can equal a 2 percent drop in heart disease risk!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are so anti veg*n, why do you even hang out in this section!? Really, do you think we are stupid!? Do you think we are not able to do our own research!? Do you feel you need to enlighten us with your bias knowledge!?

I've had problems with it and so have my women friends!. Early pre-menopausal symptoms, and I've heard it can effect a mans libido from one person!. My holistic doctor found some info on how it can cause intestinal irratation after I started getting cracks on my tongue!. I use it sparingly now!. Seitan (wheat gluten), almond or rice milk, might be an option for somethings!. I use 2tlbs organic almond butter, 5 cups water in a blender with agave & a pinch of sea saltWww@FoodAQ@Com

That information is incorrect!.!.!.I have worked in the nursing homes for many years!.!.!.

the 7th day Adventist vegetarian assisted living did not have any one with Alzheimer's and I don't recall hearing of vegetarian/ soy consumers being afflicted with Alzheimer's!.!.!.

on the other hand the meat eaters in the other nursing homes were stroke/Alzheimer/diabetic!.!.!.!.

It was very clear which group was healthier!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
