Do vegetarians live longer then meat eaters?!

Question: Do vegetarians live longer then meat eaters!?
i saw on a website that vegetarians live longer than people who eat meat but my family and friends say its not true whats your opinionWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
To be honest!.!.!. No!. You need the protein and calories that meat supplies, and sure now-a-days they have protein supplements, but its not the same as meat!.
I think why vegetarians are precieved to live longer its because when you become vergetarian you make a whole lifestyle change, to be healthier!. But people, typically, who DO eat meat don't really "care" so they eat candy and chips and donuts and countless amounts of other unhealthy foods!.
But look at the super foods, many of which consist of meat, and if you stuck to the super foods since the day you were born, I gaurentee you'd live longer than ANY vegetarian ever did or ever will!.!.!.

Hope this answered your question!

its totally true my friend, caitlin, is vegan and has been for 10yrs and was vegetarian for 4 yrs b4 that and she says that they are more healthier and live about 5-8 yrs longer she also studied about it and did research on it !.!.!. um go to www!.peta!.org or www!.peta2!.com !.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the oldest recorded person in history (with birth certificate and death certificate etc!.!.!.) was a 122yo french woman, who was vegetarisnWww@FoodAQ@Com

yeah go to a totally biased website like peta!.org, you'll get the truth there!. Actually I think the first guy hit it on the head!. My grandparents are also meat-eaters, and they are old (like 80's) I dont think Ive ever seen a grandparent that didnt eat meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think statistically they live longer, but of coarse just being veg doesnt mean you will live longer no matter whatWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, on average vegetarians/vegans live 5-10 years longer than meat-eaters!. And this information is not only on biased websites like PETA!. It is a proven fact that has been researched and proven!. Anyone who says it's not true is in denial!. Yes, meat eaters may live to their 80's 90's or even 100's, but is their quality of life the same as someone who has not been clogging their arteries for their entire life w/ saturated fats!? I think not!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My grandparents eat meat too! My granddad eats like a pound of bacon every day and he is really old, he gets around pretty good too!.
My Friend and her mom are both vegetarians and her mom has cataracts and dentures and shes only 47!. Its because she doesnt get enough vitaminsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Under normal circumstances, perhaps yes!. But people needs meet too you know!. And besides, everyone will die one way or another, either your a vegan or not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, the suffer less by avoiding meat beause as the reseach indicates, most of the terrible diseases such as heart attacks, and obesity are due to meat eating!. So, simple as that don't eat meat and live longer!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, vegetarians live longer!. Most people that I know that eat meat, look old and many of them have cancer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

jesus- "Thou shalt not kill, for life is given to all by God, and that which God has given, let not man take away!. For I tell you truly, from one Mother proceeds all that lives upon the earth!. Therefore, he who kills, kills his brother!. And from him will the earthly Mother turn away, and will pluck from him her quickening breasts!. And he will be shunnedd by her angels, and Satan will have his dwelling in his body!. And the flesh of slain beasts in his body will become his own tomb!. For i tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself, and whoso eats the flesh of slain beasts, eats the body of death!. For in his blood, every drop of their blood turns to poison; in his breath their breath to stink; in his flesh their flesh to boils; in his bones their bones to chalk; in his bowels their bowels to decay; in his eyes their eyes to scales; in his ears their earrs to waxy issue!. And their death will become his death!.!."

In the U!.S!. alone, 660,000 animals are killed for meat every hour!.

Those who eat flesh are 4 times more likely to contract cancer than those following a vegetarian diet!.

Two-hundred and sixty million acres of U!.S!. forestland has been cleared for cropland to produce the meat-centered diet!.

Fifty-five square feet of tropical rainforest is consumed to produce every quarter-pound of rainforest beef!.

This year alone, twenty million people worldwide will die as a result of malnutrition!. One child dies of malnutrition every 2!.3 seconds!. One hundred million people could be adequately fed using the land freed if Americans reduced their intake of meat by a mere 10%!.

Heart attack is the most common cause of death in the U!.S!., killing one person every 45 seconds!. The male meat-eater's risk of death from heart attack is 50%!. The risk to men who eats no meat is 15%!.
Completely eliminating these products from one's diet reduces the risk of heart attack by 90%!.

Contamination of breast milk due to chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides in animal products found in meat-eating mothers versus nonmeat-eating mothers is 35 times higher!.
The amount of the pesticide Dieldrin ingested by the average breast-fed American infant is 9 times the permissible level!.

The PCRM literature lists a host of health benefits of a vegetarian diet, including the following:

Preventing cancer: "Numerous epidemiological and clinical studies have shown that vegetarians are nearly 50% less likely to die from cancer than nonvegetarians!."
Preventing heart disease and lowering blood pressure!.
Preventing and REVERSING diabetes!.
Preventing and REVERSING gallstones, kidney stones and osteoporosis!.
Preventing and REVERSING asthma!.

Well, why not be!? All the essential organic nutrients required in the human diet (essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, and vitamins) are made by plants and micro-organisms, not by animals!. Animal foods contain those items too, but since most animals have roughly the same nutrient requirements as humans, we get the nutrients second-hand!. The unique ingredients in animal foods are really cholesterol and saturated fat!.

Omnivorism

The key category in the discussion of human diet is omnivores, which are defined as generalized feeders, with neither carnivore nor herbivore specializations for acquiring or processing food, and who are capable of consuming and do consume both animal protein and vegetation!. They are basically *opportunistic* feeders (survive by eating what is available) with more generalized anatomical and physiological traits, especially the dentition (teeth)!. All the available evidence indicates that the natural human diet is omnivorous and would include meat!. We are not, however, required to consume animal protein!. We have a choice!.
The Great Apes

There are very few frugivores amongst the mammals in general, and primates in particular!. The only apes that are predominantly fruit eaters (gibbons and siamangs) are atypical for apes in many behavioral and ecological respects and eat substantial amounts of vegetation!. Orangutans are similar, with no observations in the wild of eating meat!.

Gorillas are more typically vegetarian, with less emphasis on fruit!. Several years ago a very elegant study was done on the relationship between body size and diet in primates (and some other mammal groups)!. The only primates on the list with pure diets were the very small species (which are entirely insectivorous) and the largest (which specialize in vegetarian diet)!. However, the spectrum of dietary preferences reflect the daily food intake needs of each body size and the relative availability of food resources in a tropical forest!. Our closest relatives among the apes are the chimpanzees (i!.e!., anatomically, behaviorally, genetically, and evolutionarily), who frequently kill and eat other mammals (including other primates)!.

"Physiologically, people are more akin to plant-eaters, foragers and grazers, such as monkeys, elephants and cows, than to carnivora such as dogs, tigers and leopards!."

"For example, carnivora do not sweat through their skin; body heat is controlled by rapid breathing and extrusion of the tongue!. Vegetarian animals, on the other hand, have sweat pores for heat control and the elimination of impurities!."

"Carnivora have long teeth and claws for holding and killing prey; vegetarian animals have short teeth and no claws!."

"The saliva of carnivora contains no ptyalin and cannot predigest starches; that of vegetarian animals contains ptyalin for the predigestion of starches!."

"Flesh-eating animals secrete large quantities of hydrochloric acid to help dissolve bones; vegetarian animals secrete little hydrochloric acid!."

"The jaws of carnivora only open in an up and down motion; those of vegetarian animals also move sideways for additional kinds of chewing!."

"Carnivora must lap liquids (like a cat); vegetarian animals take liquids in by suction through the teeth!."

"There are many such comparisons, and in each case humans fit the vegetarian physiognomy!. From a strictly physiological perspective, then, there are strong arguments that humans are not suited to a fleshy diet!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

It has been proven through many unbiased scientific tests that being a vegetarian does indeed give you a much greater chance of living a longer life!. It has long since become a myth that humans have to have meet to be healthy!. Hey, and your medical bills will be MUCH lower as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarian and vegans are less likely to die of certain cancers heart desise etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, vegetarians don't live longer!. Most people that I know that don't eat meat, look old and many of them have cancerWww@FoodAQ@Com

According to a study carried out by the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German Cancer Research Center), vegetarians have a dramatically lowered mortality risk!. 100 deaths to be statistically expected in the age group of study participants are matched by only 59 real deaths in vegetarians!. Looking at male participants only, the positive effect - with only 52 actual deaths - is even more pronounced!.

several studies on Seventh-Day Adventists (typically vegetarians) indicated that they have a longer-than-average life expectancy!.

Author T!. Colin Campbell has spent 40 years researching nutrition and health to become one of the leading experts in the field!. Unlike every diet book out there, The China Study is filled with research, tables and statistics!. Many of these researcher findings are from Dr!. Campbell's landmark "China Study" that explained why people in different regions of China have different rates of chronic illness!. The answer!? Vegetables!.

In rural China, people eat very little animal-based foods!. These people get less cancer, heart disease and generally live without chronic illness!. Through his research both with experimental studies sing rats and large epidemiological studies, Dr!. Campbell concludes that animal protein increases your risk for chronic illness!.

If the research data isn't convincing enough itself, Dr!. Campbell himself (and his whole family) became vegetarians because of this research!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you read it on the net!.!.!.it must be true! lmao, actually my grandpa is 92 years old, and he eats a LOT of meat every day, hes healthy, and he still climbs down in the goose pits! Ive never seen a vegetarian older than 50 years old, so either they die young, or they convert back to normal because they are unhealthy and want to live longer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
