Some creative ways to cook with tofu?!

Question: Some creative ways to cook with tofu!?
My dad is vegetarian and I was raised as such (I do eat meat by now though- however I'm uncomfortable eating it while being at the same table with him) and I'm looking for a way to get some yummy balanced diet on our table!. We both really like tofu and even though we're good cooks I don't think either of us ever read a cooking book- my creativity with tofu came pretty much to it's end after trying some soups and vegetable-pan-fry-thingys!. Anybody knows what kind of interesting and not to complicated stuff (he works late and I'm at school a lot) you can do with tofu!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go buy some baked tofu!. They have it already marinated!. You can put it in sushi, chinese stir fry, pad thai, coconut curry!. I use tofu in place of ricotta cheese in my lasagna!. I have also made creamy spinach artichoke dip which is really good!. It is super versatile!. I could be more specific if I knew more of what you had in mind!. Tofu isn't usually the focal point, it is more of an accent!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The nice thing about tofu is that it's bland!. So you can marinate it or season it just about any way you want to suit your taste buds or meal or dish!. And then there is soft tofu and medium tofu and firm and extra firm!. I use soft tofu as a binder/thickener in vegetarian casseroles/stews, and hard tofu also, cut up in cubes and marinate it in whatever sauce/flavour I'm aiming for!. I also have used soft tofu blended in various desserts!.
I've never looked at a cookbook for this, it's all just having fun and getting creative!. Ultimately the best way to find some yummy alternatives to just stir-fries, is experimenting yourself in your own kitchen!. Some things will turn out and some things wont, just make note of what you like and what isn't a success!. However, there are plenty of cookbooks either at the library or the bookstore to give you inspiration!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I have heard of many!. One that sounds pretty good is Tofu Salad!. It has Iceberg Lettuce, onions, carrots, olives, Tofu, and some kind of sauce, can't remember what it was!.!.!.!.

At some Restaurant in my city, they served Tofu Sushi once!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Check your local community center to see if anyone offers a cooking class in vegetarian cooking!.
Or talk to the culinary instructors at a community college about using tofu in place of meat when cooking!. They could offer great advice and may even know a veggie chef!
You can take any recipe and use tofu, if you know what you are doing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
