Answers:
i did it because i watched this:
http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=VIjanhKqV!.!.!.
all meat-eaters should watch this!. !. !. it sickened me and i just no longer could stomach any kind of meat!. !. !. thus, VEGETARIAN! i am so much happier (and healthier) now that i kno im saving many animals from cruelty in slauterhouses and from being killed =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am!.
my dad used to be a chef and used to see how they were handled n all that, and he didn't like it!.
so I've been a vegetarian all my life!.
I'm not bothered, people say oh you're missing out, but it doesn't temp me the slightest!.

also there's that disease that was around oh i 4got what it's called haha!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't like the taste of it, that's the only reason!. I've hated it since I was a kid, I can't ever remember eating it!. No one else in my family is a vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i was vegan for 2 years some years ago!.

the actual different from being a vegan and non vegan that i feel is i have no gastritis problem during the time i did as vegan!.
as for now, i'm having it again, hehehe!.

as for why, i read a book!. it contains these reason :
* healthier life
* didn't make your stomach as burial ground for animal, not to mention the pain they endure during their slaughter
* more hygiene
* vegan will lessen your emotional temper
* and some more that i forgotWww@FoodAQ@Com

I've been vegetarian for 2 months and am starting to go vegan due to the animal slaughter and animal cruelty!. I'm also a passionate member of HSI and if I was eating meat that would be slightly hypocritical!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For the animals!. Why should they die so I can eat an unhealthy meal!. Of those who eat an animal based diet, nearly 50% will die of a heart attack or stroke!. Of those who eat no animal products, that number drops to about 4%!. So health is another reason for me!. The third reason is the environment!. According to the United Nations and other organizations, raising animals for food is the largest source of global warming in the world!. (in many ways you wouldn't even expect)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some reasons include:

--Health
--Taste
--Religious
--Belief in some (or all) of the principals of the animal rights movement!.

I fall into the latter category!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First and foremost, we have evolved from our ancestors who were meat eaters!. We humans do not have claws to tear the meat or those teeth to biteoff and gnaw raw flesh!.

I used to eat almost all kind of non veg food (except beef and those exotic animals) Then i started getting sort of allergic rashes, after consulting a dermatologist, I was asked to stop eating non veg for some time!. this worked!.

Another reason is cruelty to animals!. I chanced to view a web site depicting animal slaughter, the conditions they are bred, etc!., How does one adopt an animal, pamper it with food and then eat it!?

I have noticed that the non vegeterians are more prone to violence, short tempered, getting violent with little or no provocation!. (Of course there is exception in every case)

I wonder why buy or breed animals, bring them up, feed them, lookafter them and then kill!? Instead there is a huge alternative with vegeterian variety of food!.

Well ! i feel i tried to answer but the list is very long!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because I don't believe humans have the right to kill and eat animals!. Moreover, the conditions under they are bred are really cruel, let alone the transport on trucks and all!.
I agree with the answerer before me, meat eaters are indeed more violent and more easily provoked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I became a Vegetarian after hearing and reading horror stories on the cruelty/torture/senseless slaughtering of innocent animals!. I became Vegan after visiting these sites:
http://notmilk!.com
http://milksucks!.comWww@FoodAQ@Com

I am vegetarian because of the disgusting practice of factory farming!.

I am not against humans eating meat!. I know theres a thing called the food chain, and animals eat other animals!. So by all means if people want to go out and catch there own food, go for it!.

But the way we treat animals in this meat market is brutal, inhumane, and just plain gross!. We raise them to be tortured, and I cant support it!.
And since im most def not willing to kill my own meat, then I guess I dont get to eat it!.

If you need any motivation go to youtube and watch meet your meat!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The meat you buy at a super marker taste absolutely nothing like the meat you would get from a local farmer!. There are so many toxic steriods, medications, and other crap shoved into the cow it doesnt even taste like meat!. most of the animals are very sick have disease and things and they are untreated i saw some movies but im vegan for health reasons mainly but also for the animals that have to live and breath death every day of their livesWww@FoodAQ@Com

I became a vegetarian mainly because i think killing animals is wrong when you can eat without killing them!. I watched some videos on PETA2 with depressed me and that really influenced me too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No offense to anyone who eats meat!.!. But to me its like eating Flesh, Veins, bones and blood!. I can't even look at a papercut!.!.!.!. Why would I put that in my body!? THats the main reason!.!.!.!.
After that comes the fact that its way easier on your body and also many spirutal mystics say that Being a Vegetarian is easier on your spiritual body too :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I chose to be a vegetarian because it's a healthier lifestyle and i think they way they kill animals is very cruel and unfair!.
I did a lot of research on vegetarianism before i became one and i learned a lot!. Like vegetarians have a lower risk of having heart attacks and getting cancer!. It's just healthier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Heya

Erm well it was a variety of things all at one time!. I visted a mosque which opened my eyes to other worldly things and put a new prospetive on life!. At about the same time i was also doing animal rights in school!. I also wtched a program on how animals was slaughtered!.

After this is just didnt have the desire to eat meat!. The best decision ive ever made!. =] xxWww@FoodAQ@Com

this is my friend answering:

i became a vegetarian for multiple reasons!. 1) because it's healthier!. 2) i read some nasty things about what sort of antibiotics are in meat!. 3) i feel better about myself because i am a true animal lover!. so whenever i ate meat i always felt bad about some animal having to die to fill my stomach!. ok, hope that helps, or w/e!.

My dad was a meat and potatoes man!. He had his first stroke at 59 and several heart attacks before dieing at age 70!. his arteries were 60 to 80% cloged with cholesterol!.
I never really enjoyed the flavor of meat, so decided to become a vegetarian after researching the hazards of a diet high in red meat!.
I've always been involved in the organic movement, so riding my body or unnecessary chemicals, and concern for the enviroment has also motovated me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you are against eating animal fleshWww@FoodAQ@Com

i'm a vegetarian because I just felt like doing something different!. and i really like being vegeatarain now!. and i think meat is gross!. especially chicken and beef!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i was having stomach problems and the doctor recomended eating less meat and only lean meat!. I had been trying to make some effort to eat a bit less meat for sustainability reasons before that, and after thinking about the doctor's recomendation, i decided it was my time to take the full plunge and go veg!. It has worked great for me on the health front and has been a positive in my life in so many other ways!. it is really one of the best things i have done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been a vegetarian for all my life!.
Since i was born, to now when i am 13!.
Truthfully its no big difference!. I mean i agree you guys get a whole variety of fodds, if you ever think about how you guys eat dead animals, its just sickening!.

also being a vegetarian helps out a lot, buying meats, cutting them, frying them, satueeing them, idon't know it can be a hassle!.

But i really don't know a lot about being a meat eater, so i really can't relate!.

Hope My Information Was Useful To YouWww@FoodAQ@Com

I first became a vegetarian when I read a book of essays!. Each one addressed a broad reason for giving up meat (environmental and ecological reasons, health reasons, ethical reasons, comparative anatomy, etc!.)

Later, I became vegan when I had learned more about the effect of intensive animal agriculture on the environment and read more about the cruelty of the egg and dairy industries!. When I realized the link between milk and veal and learned about battery cages and mass killing of male chicks I realized I no longer wanted to participate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

er i think i just realised about how badly animals are generally kept and it put me off!.!.!.and my views were totally contradicting what i was doing when i was etaing meat!.!.!.cos i think animals have souls and feelings so its just not fair for me to eat them!.
i have no problem with other people eating meat, its a personal thing, but i do hate the way meat is just mass produced for crappy foods like burgers now!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just never liked meat all that much even as a child!. During family picnics and such, I would just feast on side dishes!. When I went to college, it was just simpler for me to go all veg!. It was also around this time that I became somewhat of an animal rights activist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
