Meat protein and onivorism?!

Question: Meat protein and onivorism!?
I have to ask this because I am not seeing answers that sound logical and bipartisan mostly because people are too caught up in their own activism or immaturity with snide comments to give an answers that makes sense!. And I am working on Children’s book and do want to get the info wrong even if it is just a humorous limerick!. I am not looking for any animal rights propaganda this question has to do with human biology!.

I need the real facts on being and omnivore because that is what we are!. We are not herbivores or carnivores and we can’t be!. I will tell you what I know and believe and you can give your ideas and theories and opinions!. My facts may be wrong but I’ve seen a lot of flawed stuff out there, article that really bugged me

I need the facts people not opinions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There once was a children's book writer
Whose grammar could be a lot tighter
He chanced V & V
but only to see
That everyone there was much brighter!.

So, what is your question!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

you are asking this in yahoo V&V!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.you are only going to get one sided answers from fanatical veggies!.!.!.!.!.!.to expect anything other than that is foolishWww@FoodAQ@Com

We are omnivores because our evolutionary ancestors are omnivores!. Or if you don't believe in evolution, then God designed us as omnivores!. Either way, the fact that we are omnivores is obvious by our teeth, the structure of our digestive system, etc!.

The article from Bizarro is a snow job!. It mixes half truths with complete lies!. It is more political than technical, and anything political should be taken with a grain of salt!.

Humans -can- live very comfortable and healthy on only veggies!. In fact there are undeniably certain health benefits!. BUT you have to know how to do it! No vegetable contains complete protein, all the amino acids you need to live!. So you have to eat at least two to survive and be healthy!. Cows can eat just grass but we can't!. Every aboriginal culture has some native mixture of a grain and a legume that provides complete protein!. American Indians had succotash--corn and beans!. In Mexico and throughout the Caribbean it is rice and beans!. In the US it is a peanut butter sandwich! (The bread is a processed grain, and peanuts are a legume, not a nut!)

So it seems unlikely to me that we were originally vegetarians!. Vegetarian animals are not ABLE to eat meat! If we were vegetarians, meat would make us sick!

Now I eat meat and I also believe in animal rights!. I think cows and pigs and chickens should be raised as humanely as possible, and killed as humanely and quickly as possible!. I don't find being a meat eater inconsistent with believing in animal rights!. I think insisting that animals never be killed is going a bit too far!.

Modern species of farm animals--cows, chickens, etc!.--are not able to live in the wild!. We basically created these species to serve our needs!. And so long as they are treated fairly well, I don't have a problem with using any parts of them--meat, leather, bones, whatever!.

If you write a book for children (not -you-, I mean anyone) I think you have an obligation to be honest and not push a particular religio-political position that kids might accept as 'fact'!. When you see how confused kids are these days about, for instance, the age of the earth, you see the subtle damage done by literature and teaching materials designed to indoctrinate rather than to instruct!. Kids should be taught -how- to think, not -what- to think!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you're basing your book on fact, then children will learn how healthy vegetarianism is - that's great!

If you're looking for information that advocates meat and dairy (and you enjoy eating bullsh*t with a spoon), check out the USDA online!.

EDIT: Spring/Sprung, you effing RAWK!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it’s impossible to be a true animal rights advocate and eat animals!. Think about it, that’s absolutely ludicrous!. If you were working for the abolition of human slavery, yet owned and exploited human slaves yourself, would anyone take you seriously!? If you were really working for the abolition of animal slavery, why would you continue to pay those that commodify, exploit, torture and kill them for mere human pleasure and corporate greed!? Makes no sense!.

As for what we do with all the “saved” cattle etc!., it’s is so highly unlikely that the whole world would decide to stop eating animals overnight that it’s not even worth considering!. As more people begin to see how unnecessary, not to mention unsustainable, animal agriculture is the market would shift away from a animal based diet to a plant based one, and the market would gradually adjust!. Ideally, I’d like to see a day where we have no domesticated animals!. I think, on the whole, we’ve thoroughly proven that we cannot sustain relationships with domesticated animals that are fair and mutually beneficial to the animals!. Many of the animals we keep for food are so genetically unfit for long-term survival that their very existence is torture!. “Broiler” chickens grow to “slaughter weight” in 6 weeks, a process that would naturally take 6 months!. Pigs grow to slaughter weight in 6 months!. Rescued “food” animals often suffer heart, joint and other health problems as they live beyond their intended slaughter date!. It is heartbreaking that these Frankenstein animals are born only to suffer and die!. That is their only purpose, their only worth according to us!.

I know everyone wants their cute cats and dogs, and I love them too but I think it is not fair to keep breeding these animals when it means we will continually abuse, neglect, and kill them in huge numbers!. We need to get over our own “wants” and start addressing the animals’ real needs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

What is onivorism!?
You mean oMnivorism!?
I am sorry to point this out to you: you posted this question in the vegetarian and vegan section!. We don't eat meat!. We are not concerned with the protein found in meat!. We are not able to assist you with your belief that humans are made to eat both meat and vegetables!.
Good luck with your research!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ME- that is hilarious

Ok, I’ll be quick!.
We are omnivores!.
We can survive and even thrive without meat, if we desire to!.
On cattle- no one expects everyone to become a vegetarian all at once!. The cattle will be eaten and then bred in progressively smaller quantities as more and more people become vegetarian!.
You can feed your animals what they eat, they are carnivores, biology has made their choice for them!.

good luck with your limericks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, evolution has developed humans into omnivores!. we can survive on meat, we can survive on plants!.

that website is stupid!. it generalizes too much, and is mostly propoganda and half-truths, and doesn't provide sources for its information!.

homo-sapiens have existed between 60,000 to 200,000 years, and lived by hunting and gathering (anthropology 101)!. even the most crude farming didn't take place until after the last ice age, 8000 b!.c!., and even then it was random and sporadic!.

those are the facts!. we can live just fine with both meat and plants!. it's who we are!. email me if you need more in depth info!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

onivorism!?'

Is that someone who only eats onions!?

Ok, here are the bipartisan facts you are after-

You say; 'We are not herbivores or carnivores and we can’t be' and 'Humans need to eat both meat and plant matter to survive'

You are right we can not be carnivores (for example if you ate nothing but rabbit you would die within 5 months), however there is no evidence to say we 'need' meat to survive, indeed scientists have proven that the average vegan has the same life expectancy as the average (healthy living) meat eater (several large US studies including one study collating facts from 6 other studies, 2 large UK studies and the preliminary results from an ongoing lifetime study by the Seventh Day Adventists)!. Therefore it is a fallacy to say we can not 'survive' living on an herbivorous diet!. However the longest lives were found by these studies to be lead by vegetarians, they were found to have lives 2!.5 years longer than the herbivorous vegans and the omnivorous meat eaters, leading to the conclusion that an omnivorous meat free diet (or ovo/lacto vegetarianism) is the healthiest for a human - in your question you talk in terms of 'surviving' well those vegetarians out 'survive' you meat eaters and us vegans by several years, but both of us 'survive' as long as each other so you can not conclude that we need meat to 'survive' only that no matter what else you choose to eat we all need vegetables to 'survive'!.

From a personal point of view I had a 96 year great old uncle who was vegetarian all his adult life - I would have been hard pushed to argue with him that he needed meat to 'survive'!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Humans don't NEED meat - they need protein!. Protein is found in numerous foods that aren't animal related!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
