You can be completely healthy on a vegetarian or omnivorous diet!. However, many nutrients are a lot easier to get from animal products (or you can get them from vegetarian sources, but they're in forms that aren't easily used by the body)!.
If you want to be a healthy vegetarian, expect to invest a fair bit of time into meal planning to make sure you're getting all the right nutrients!. When I first started being a vegetarian, I wasn't very careful about it and I developed some vitamin deficiencies!. I'm careful now and I still have an iron deficiency! The point is that being a vegetarian is a lot harder than being an omnivore!. Talk to a nutritionist about how to safely transition to a vegetarian diet!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pros: you'll be healthier as you'll be eating less saturated fat, less cholesterol, more fiber, and more vitamins!. A complete list of pros can be found here: http://www!.vegetariantimes!.com/features/!.!.!.
Health wise, there is no downside to vegetarianism!.!.!. the only con I can think of is that there are people out there who will make fun of you for excluding meat from your diet!. My family makes fun of me, mostly because they're nutritionally ignorant and don't understand!.
If/when you go veggie, make sure you are eating foods that will supply you with iron, copper, and B12, as those are the nutrients found in meat!. If you're really serious about this and do not want to develop any nutritional deficiencies, you should go to the library and check out a couple books on vegetarianism!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it is really good
if u r on a balanced diet u can be healthy,
in every day meal take some milk in the morning, and have salads and also some sprouts which will be tastier to eat as a breakfast, in the lunch have some rice with cooked lentils and curry with leafy vegetables, or other vegetables but try to eat atleast one leafy vegetable every day, with which u will maintain ur blood percentage, in between take some fruits, and fruit juices, in dinner u can have some tortillos with a curry and also some yogurt!.
this will be a healthy diet, and u can see that ur skin also feels fresh and ur face will glow!.
to be completely vegan it may not be easy but if u start taking some tasty food u can do it!.
first u try some restaurant food as a vegan, u can try even indian food with spices u may like!.
in india there are many vegetarians and they r healthy it is just needed is that u should take proper food and good quantity thats it and u can be totally helathy, u can see that u can stay with good health for many years!.

I think Tara has some good points!.
A lot of your proteins come from meats!. And how strict do you want to be!? Some will eat fish for example, which is very good for you!.
Our ancestors ate little meat, but it was because of cost and availability, not choice!. I think a smarter avenue would be to reduce meat consumption, not eliminate it!. Generally speaking, most anything in moderation will not be bad for you!.
I would disregard the silly social dummies that think when someone is strong willed enough to make a choice for themselves, that they must be weird!. Ignorance always runs amuck!.

A person can be healthy eating or not eating meat!.
If you make the choice to forgo meat - then educate yourself about diet - talk to your doctor - get a ref!. if you need to a dietitian or a nutritionist to help you set up a diet that fits your personal needs!. There is nothing wrong with seeking outside help from a professional with your diet choices!.
Learn to read labels!. Sounds simple - but many people make the mistake of not learning to read labels and what the many ingredients that are listed mean or if they are animal based!.
Exercise!. A moderate amount of exercise should be part of everyone's life - no matter if they are vegetarian/vegan or eating meat!.
The best way to stay healthy is to eat a varied diet that meets your nutritional needs, moderate exercise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
