Another question on being a Vegetarian?!

Question: Another question on being a Vegetarian!?
Ok so I know some Vegetarians eat fish and some don't!.

I know that vegetarians who eat fish are called pescetarians!.

Ok so let's just say you ARE a vegetarian who eats fish!.!.!.and someone offers you pork!.

Do you say:"No thanks, I'm a vegetarian" or "No thanks, I'm a pescetarian!."!?

What I'm trying to say is!.!.!.if your a vegetarian who chooses to eat fish, would it be right to call yourself a vegetarian if your in fact, a pescetarian, to avoid misunderstandings!?

I'm just curious, I'm working on becoming a vegetarain myself!.!.!. I'm not trying to offend people!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Well, if I ate fish I would call myself a pescetarian just because its the correct term!. But, honestly if someone offered me pork I'd just say, No, I don't eat pork!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well i don't think it really matters!. you could always just say "i'm a vegetarian who eats fish" or something like that!. technically you're not a true vegetarian, but most people don't know what a pescetarian is unless you explain it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

just say not thanks i dont eat red meat i only eat fish:)Www@FoodAQ@Com

you could just say "no, i'm a vegetarian"!. because unless they're offering you fish you wouldn't have to point out that you're a vegetarian that eats fishWww@FoodAQ@Com

you can't call yourself a vegetarian if you eat anything with a face (well, or what USED to have a face)!. so, yes!.!.!. you're a pescetarian!.

i think "vegan" is a more common term to most people than "pescetarian", though!.!.!. so you should probably just tell them that you either don't eat pork/red meat/etc!. or else that fish is the only kind of meat that you eat!.

to the answer below - meat comes from animals (vertebrate OR invertebrate)!.!.!. fish is not a vegetable!Www@FoodAQ@Com

you are still a vegetarian you chose not to eat meatWww@FoodAQ@Com

You can simply say you are a vegetarian!. Most people don't know there is more than 1 kind!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I doubt most people would be familiar with the term!. I for one was not!. But I have never researched the topic either!. Never had the desire to give up meat!. But, in our politically correct world, (which I mostly think can be absurd) its probably time we learn it!. After all, some people can be pretty creative when it comes to naming/describing something!. Wouldn't want to disappoint them!.

Yeah, you are a pescetarian, but alot of people don't really knows the difference, and that just might confuse them more!. just say vegetarian, but really you're a pes!.

it honestly doesn't make a difference unless you want to clarify you eat fish, or that the person gets pissed off for using incorrect terms!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most of the time people will tell me; "I'm vegetarian;but I eat seafood!." or "I'm a vegetarian but I eat dairy!." Or whatever!. I have a restaurant so I need them to be specific about what they do or do not eat and I would not have known what a pescatarian was!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

pescetarians are NOT "vegetarians who eat fish"

They are "people who restrict thier meat intake to fish"

They are totally different statements!.

Would you say "a murderer is a fine upstanding citizen who kills people"!.

No, the contradition is too great to make sense!.

beleive me, it does matter!.!.!.to the 200 million vegetarians who do not eat fish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People are not going to understand you if you say that!. Just say you don't normally eat meat, mostly just fish and eggs!. Otherwise they might think that you are a pretentious snob, even though you might not be!. Anyways, I have a hard time myself turning down delicious chops and steaks, but I'm trying to, because it's healthier!Www@FoodAQ@Com
