You know that all trends move from the west coast and head east!. This is one!. But it's not a bad thing! Like, who cares WHY you quit smoking!? Some vegans are health-vegans, and some vegans are animal-rights vegans!. Doesn't really matter as long as less animals suffer and die so humans can have nice fur coats, baby back ribs, circuses, leather boots!. We are the superior species, right!? The animals are here for us to USE!.

Thank you for being veggie- don't mind the other comments!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's one thing to give up meat after a thoughtful consideration of what kind of a diet the person is going to eat!. But there are questions posted here all the time by people who have already decided to become vegetarian/vegan and have no clue what foods are vegetarian or vegan, what they have to avoid, how to cook or even how to shop!.

Or maybe they're giving up meat because they think meat, poultry, and fish are "gross"!. They also think fresh vegetables are gross, too!. So now they're looking for processed junk food that is "vegetarian" so they'll have something to eat!.

For people like these, it's just a trend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't care WHY people go veg*n!. If whatever reason is good enough for you, then that's good enough for me!.

What DOES irritate me, though, is people who go veg*n without committing to it!. These are the ones who are either: vegetarian "except for chicken and fish, and I only eat meat at Christmas and Easter, and when I'm PMSing and I really want bacon;" or they're vegetarian for 3 weeks just to p*ss-off their parents, and while living off of cheese pizza, Mars bars and diet coke are SO surprised that they start feeling like sh*t, so they go back to eating meat again and tell everyone they know "I used to be vegetarian, but I got so weak and sick - vegetarianism is SO unhealthy!."

THOSE "vegetarians" p*ss me off!. (You know who you are!)

Now, can someone help me down from this soapbox!? My smugness combined with protein deficciency makes me too weak to move!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Dear god, how many times have I been called lame because I'm a vegan!.!.!.I think that I've lost count!. Apparently because I take some photo classes and I'm in a trendy place and it's trendy to be vegan, I'm trendy!. If you took a look at me, I'm about the least trendy person you will ever meet!

I became vegetarian when I was 16 years old because I couldn't stand the taste of meat and I started to question where it was coming from!. In my 20's I saw tapes of how animals were treated in slaughter houses and swore it off FOREVER!. By the time I was 25, I had become lactose intolerant and was already using green products and products that weren't tested on animals!.!.!.so I figured I might as go all the way vegan since I was nearly there already and I absolutely LOVE IT!.

I don't think that I'm doing it for the wrong reasons, if anything, for the right ones!. I'm doing it for the animals, the environment, for my own health!. I think regardless of why people are doing it and if they are doing it for a fad then at least they are doing it and perhaps it will stick with them and they will see that they feel a little better!. Maybe they will research into how it actually helps the environment!. Who knows!.!.!.it could be a fad that could stick!. One can hope, right!? :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

In my opinion, anyone who does anything to be trendy is foolish and lacks individuality!. As long as one isn't doing something to be cool, I could not care less why they are doing it!.
I guess you could say they are doing it for the wrong reason, but who are we to decide what are the right and wrong reasons for doing something!? If they want to follow trends all their life, so be it!. I'm not going to bother them because of it and keep my opinion to myself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I understand the point that you making and have seen what your writing about!.

My concern is more directed to people doing it as a way to lose weight - or more to the point - use it as a mean to lose weight and justify a possible eating disorder!.

When I have seen what some people are eating in a days time - I honestly wonder how they can function on so few calories!. One that comes to mind is a person that was even counting the gum that they chewed as if it were something to 'eat' - just scary!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It does annoy me a bit, even to the point that it motivated me a little more to go full-on vegan, just so i could be escape the trend!.
But in general, the positive energy I gain from knowing that I help animals outweighs that of the negative energy I feel towards those "trend" followers!. =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some may!. My best friend and I don't look vegan and once when we ordered vegan food the person at the register gave us this weird look and asked us if we're ordering vegan because Britney Spears is vegan (something ridiculous like that)!. Most people go veg due to animal or health issues but I've known at least one person who did it because they're in love with a vegan celebrity and wants to increase their chance of meeting them(!)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's always best to be veg*n (vegetarian or vegan) for the right reasons but I'll take a fad over nothing at all!. As they immerse themselves in the culture I'm sure a high percentage of them will come to truly understand the reasons for being veg*n!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is not a "trend", it's a lifestyle that is chosen for reasons like religion, moral beliefs, care for animals, and healthy!. It just isn't right to become a vegetarian or vegan to "be cool" and "stay trendy"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well maybe some people are doing it for the wrong reason, but I don't really care why they're doing it!. Even if it is just to fit in, they are still saving animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do agree somewhat, but good for them, if they give up meat for a trend, I wouldnt if I wasnt vegetarian!.

ps!. Im vegetarian too!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i dont think its a trend to be cool!. i think its because more and more people are becoming aware of animal cruelty and how icky meat really is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Being vegetarian is always admirable, despite the cause of their 'conversion'!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It makes much more sense of being of veg for health and religious reasons and not for the fun of it (fashion / cool trend)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've never known it to be a trend!.!.!. I wouldn't mind if it was though!.!.!.!? I'd have more people to swap food with :3Www@FoodAQ@Com

So what's it to you if people want to become vegetarians!. It's a personal choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It does not matter as long as they stay that way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i don`t think the reason matters , i admire people who choose to be veggie or veganWww@FoodAQ@Com

yea stop trying to be a vegetarian and a vegan bc you are trying to be like me thats so lame so stopWww@FoodAQ@Com

Who died and made you queen of the vegetarians!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
