Answers:
I think that they might!. I have seen some interesting experiments reported on tv shows that shows compelling evidence!. On the other hand, if they DO have feelings, nobody has figured out how they do it since they have no nervous system!.
I think it is very elitist for us to think we know all there is about such things, and many of your answerers display an elitist mentality!.
At the same time, I am not going to stop eating my vegetables!. I just treat plants (and animals) with respect and any interaction I have is with causing them the least amount of damage or pain!.
I mean!.!.!. just because mice can feel pain won't keep me from getting rid of them!. But I won't torture them!. In case plants feel pain, I avoid doing things to harm them unnecessarily!. I'm still going to prune things and mow the yard though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most people out there don't think twice about plant feelings!. There have been numerous studies where people hook up plants to polygraph tests, and watch them respond to whatever is thrown at them (I mean it in a figurative sense, but it very well could be literal)!.The notion that plants are capable of feeling emotions was first recorded in 1848, when Dr!. Gustav Theodor Fechner, a German professor, suggested the idea in his book Nanna!. He believed that plants are capable of emotions, just like humans or animals, and that one could promote healthy growth by showering plants with talk, attention, and affection!. Read the rest of the below article (under sources) for an immense amount of research on such a crazy idea!.
One of the first to research the concept was the Indian scientist Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose, who began to conduct experiments on plants in the year 1900!. He found that every plant and every part of a plant appeared to have a sensitive nervous system and responded to shock by a spasm just as an animal muscle does!.
In addition, Bose found that plants grew more quickly amidst pleasant music and more slowly amidst loud noise or harsh sounds!. He also claimed that plants can "feel pain, understand affection etc!.," from the analysis of the nature of variation of the cell membrane potential of plants, under different circumstances!.
From the people I know, there is more to add on!. My grandfather's friend is one of the psychic detectives that you see on TV (I know, also crazy but look into it and you'll be more convinced)!. He showed some cops that if one person boils shrimp in front of a plant, it not only reacts to that but it reacts to the person who did it!. I'm not too convinced myself, but I do have to admit that if you read below/and or try it yourself your doubt will loosen!.
And finally, there are some people that freak out when they step on/kill anything living, including ants!. That believe is called Jainism, and it originated in India VERRYYYY long ago!. I'm all for their goal, but that would make me insane and put me in a mental instituion!.!.!. But you also must also consider that stepping on grass shouldn't kill it, or nearly every square inch of grass on the planet would be brown and dead!.
P!.S!. I think that plants have more perception than we realize, but as far as feeling emotions and reading minds I'm not too sure!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Plants don't have a nervous system, so they can't feel pain, or anything else for that matter!.

I do!. The guys off of Myth Busters did a test on plants!. They hooked a lie detector up to the plant, and a guy would hit the plant, burn it, and think about doing mean things to it!. And everytime he did something mean, the lie detector would jump up and down, meaning that plants know what's going on, and they can show emotions, we just can't see them!. It was very interesting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
My personal feelings are that I get more of a pang of regret when I cut a tree or limb than I do when I kill an animal!. I kill pests because they are just that!. pests!. I kill food animals to eat!. However when I cut a tree it is usually because I just do not want it there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
