I'm vegan!. But I'm in a phase of spiritual discovery at the moment!. I was born into a Muslim family but I find my self being pulled toward earth centric traditions like Paganism, Asatru, Norse & Celtic Paganism!. Kind of Eclectic Pagan if I must pick a label!. I'm not vegan because of my faith, but I do believe paganism and veganism are complementary!. I do have faith, faith in nature, the earth and Mother Nature!. Whether or not I call her The Goddess, I do believe there is a sense of the divine within nature and the natural world!.
Thank you so much for the great question!.

I'm vegan and I'm an unshakeable atheist!. I was brought up Catholic but left that behind in my teens and have been atheist for almost 40 years!.
I agree that the 'god wants you to eat meat' argument is absurd; I'm amazed at the arrogance of believers who assume they are in a position to know what their god wants!.
I do have faith; I have faith in the essential goodness, kindness and unselfishness of the overwhelming majority of human beings!. But I don't believe in a god or an afterlife!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Committed Atheist with some slight Pagan/Wiccan sympathies!.
I did try Christianity for about 5 or 6 years (a few different denominations from the staid to the wacky) including getting baptised, but I gave it up in the end for a number of reasons!. The corruption and hypocrisy I witnessed certainly didn't help their cause!. I'd only really gone in the first place to please my then-partner, and with the relationship well and truly over, that excuse was no longer valid!. But the biggest single reason was that, though I tried really hard, I never truly believed in the (current) existence of an omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient Abrahamic-style god (Yahweh/Jehovah/Allah/Gawd)!.
It wasn't a totally wasted 5 years - I learnt a lot about the way they think, the jargon they use, the arguments they use, etc!. and there was some good "fellowshipping" at times and I do enjoy a good sing-along!.
But, overall, the 2-5 hours every Sunday that was spent on church-related activities is much better spent on other, more productive and/or enjoyable things like sleeping, gardening, tv and internet, just to name a few!.
I have nothing against people of faith (except for the extremist, evangelical, fanatical and fundaMENTAList ones, of course) - some of my best friends are Christians, Muslims, Buddhists or Hindus - I just can't see the point of being one myself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't believe in god or organized religion, but I'm vegan for ethical reasons!. As for Christians, Seventh Day Adventists tend to be vegetarian, and the Hallelujah diet is vegan, so no, not all Christians believe god gave them animals to eat!. The ones who say that are just feeling guilty and trying to justify their meat eating to you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Personally, I'm christian, but to be honest, I think it's a load of **** the "god put the animals on the earth so we could live blah blah blah!.!.!." First of all, if that were the case I would have died three years ago =) I'm not vegan because of my faith, but because I don't think it is morally right to eat animals!. I mean, they were put on the earth to live just like we were, and if they were supposedly put on earth for us to eat, why is it that vegans have a reversed risk of heart disease!. It seems more like eating meat is a slow form of suicide, not to mention cruelty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Vegan agnostic!. I was raised Jewish, but I gave up religion long before I gave up animal products!.
It's hard to explain my beliefs because I also subscribe to the Frank Lloyd Wright quote, "I believe in god, only I spell it nature!." But since an alternate definition of agnostic is that one can never know the true nature of god, I guess that's close enough!.
And I would remind those who bring up the dominion argument that there is a difference between "dominion" and "domination" besides the letters "at"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do not believe or buy into dogma and organized religion!. I like a little bit of all religions, actually!. I believe mostly the way Gnostics believe, which is that there is a Father God and a Mother God, and I do not believe in a hell or a devil!. I believe we come from and go back to The Other Side!. I believe in other worlds!. I am a psychic and I am a medium, and that plays into my beliefs somewhat also!. I believe in the Buddhist way of thinking in living in peace and love and being non-judgemental and just live and let live!. I don't believe we have the right to play the part of anybody's God, nor push our beliefs onto anyone else, or to take life unless our life is threatened first, and then only self-defense!. I believe we owe it to the God within us to take the best care of our health as we can, and meat/dairy is not healthy!. I think we should go back to our roots, the way we were created, which was not with carniverous teeth, nor were we meant to drink the breast milk of another species!. That's just ridiculous!. I think God gives us common sense to make wise decisons not based on what everybody else is doing or what dogma or a certain school of thought says we should do, and it makes no sense to slaughter an innocent animal for skin or food when in this day and time it is completely unneccessary!. That's logic, not faith!.
I think spirituality alone would be enough to stop the mass slaughter and the close-mindedness, so when you see people supporting meat, almost violently supporting it, it makes you wonder about their heart and soul, doesn't it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Even if you're an atheist, it might be good to read a bible and understand it better than the ignorant Christians you've been apparently dealing with!.
In the beginning, God created man!. Then he created animals as COMPANIONS to man!. We were all vegetarian back then!. Until the flood!. Noah and the ark!.!.!. After that, God gave man permission to eat animals!. But it came with a price!.
In the Book of Isaiah, where Isaiah gives prophecy about the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, the lion with lie down with the lamb!. We will all again return to vegetarianism!.
For me!. I am Catholic!. When I read that if America alone cut its alcohol and beef consumption in half we could end world hunger with the remaining grain!.
That did it for me!. I had no choice!. As a Franciscan who seeks to LIVE the Gospel (feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, etc!.!.!.) it is THE most Christian thing to do to be vegan!.
It takes 22 pounds of grain and 5200 gallons of water to produce one pound, that's just 16 ounces) of edible beef!. With that grain and water, one can care for a whole family for a week!.
The factory farm industry accepts a 10% loss of livestock as acceptable!. Multiply ONE cow times that 16 ounce steak!. Then imagine a head of 10000 cows - allowing 10% of that to die meaninglessly!. It's horrific!
On a final note, God gave man dominion over the earth!. Dominion does not mean dominate!. It means care for!. We have dominion over our children!. We don't brutally slaughter them!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am a Christian!. Not a 'great' one because I have slipped and slid at times on my beliefs - but I am indeed very much a Christian!. To be BLUNT - I am not PERFECT - I have NOT ARRIVED - and I don't feel the need to tell others that they are on their way to the skillet of hades!.!.!.!.!. That isn't my place, don't feel a calling to do such!.
I have played around with vegetarianism for over 30 years!. I have become VERY SERIOUS about it the last 6 months - meat is a problem with my seizure meds!. So not a vegetarian because of my faith - but had leaning towards it before I HAD my faith in God!.
"What actually is your faith!?" Faith is the substance of things that are hoped for but the evidence is not seen!. If seen - it isn't faith any more, right!? but if your asking what kind of church that I go to - I go to a Church of Christ down the road from where I live!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was vegetarian all my life because I was born into a Hindu family!.
I stopped being Hindu, and became vegan!. - heheheh
I am very disppointed when I see indian people eating meat!. - they did not use to, but since being rules by the british they started to be more "western", and than with money - even more eat meat!. - sad really!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Although vegetarianism is an important part of the Jain and Hindu religions (my dad's and mom's religions), and I grew up with those faiths, my spiritual beliefs are not so specific!. I do follow a lot of Buddhist and Jain principles (they're very similar, but it's easy to understand their differences and difficult to choose)!. My vegetarian lifestyle is something that I choose out of compassion for animals and not because religion says so!. I choose my beliefs based on what it thinks of other living creatures and not the other way around!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't belong to any religion, because I don't believe in any of them!.
I also get tired of hearing the whole god put animals on earth thing, and that there would be too many animals if we didn't eat them!.
I'm vegan because of health and animal cruelty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As far as I know Buddhists have been vegetarian as far back as 500 B!.C!. "Ahimsa" is the practice of nonviolence towards all living things, and is practiced by most Hindus and Buddhists!. Although I'm neither of these I agree with the practice for moral reasons!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm a happy vegan, and a happy christian!. Catholic, to be specific!.
I don't pretend to know God's mind in terms of the "rightness" or "wrongness" of a vegan diet!. I am called to honour His creation - including my body, and the world He created - and that call directs me to be vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi, I'm not Buddhist, but I adopt some Buddhist ethics!. ''Harm no sentient being''!. Plants are not sentient, although we should still respect the environment!. Vegetarianism is in accordance with my spiritual beliefs!. Oh, and I'm the new Hollywood since my old account kinda go deleted by some troll!. <sighs>
To those who say God put animals on the earth- wtf!?! I'm not a christian but I am sure that God would not support factory farming!
What about you!?
Peace ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. I'm Christian and I am a vegan because I believe God does not want me to kill any of his creatures for my taste buds!. THat is what my christian relatives argue!. That he put them on the Earth to eat!. I think he put them on the Earth to live!. THat is not the only christian view on it!. It is a common one, but not the only one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I am devoutly pagan!.
Being vegan fits in with earth centered religions, but as there is no dogma, it's not a requirement!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How can any Christian claim its not morally right to eat meat!? Christ ate meat and he was morally perfect!. For a christian to claim eating meat is immoral, they are denying Christ!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
