Great moments as a Vegan or Vegetarian?!

Question: Great moments as a Vegan or Vegetarian!?
We need some uplifting today in this forum! I had a great thing happen and wanted to share:

We had a grill-out today at work, and one of my coworkers asked what was in my VeggieBurger and we got to talking (she didn't know I was veg) and she asked a TON of questions!. At the end of the conversation she said she's going to start eating less meat and maybe even give vegetarianism a try! I was so happy because I didn't even have to mention it to her, she just WANTED to ask!. It made my day!

What are some great moments of veg*nism you've had lately!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

When my family or my boyfriend stays with me, I always cook vegetarian meals for them!. At first they complained, but they've got used to it now and a couple of people have told me how much healthier they feel after eating them!. My parents have started cooking more vegetarian meals at home, and I think they're starting to realise that a vegetarian diet can be just as varied and interesting as one with meat (which I've been trying to tell them for ages!)

I'm glad that more people are beginning to understand vegetarianism and to experiment with veggie food! My family are still eating meat, but less of it! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I made this killer carrot cake!. Totally vegan!. And seeing as I live by myself and didn't want to end up eating this huge cake all by myself i brought it into work and let everyone know they were welcome to it!. I got tons of compliments and people asking for the recipe!. Which I gave them and everyone was shocked to find that it was vegan!. I had several people asking me where i got my recipes and did my shopping!.
Just goes to prove that veg*n do get to eat good tasting foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, way back when I was in high school and on the debate team we were out of town and stop at a McDonald's for dinner!. This girl, Maureen, was quite the character and always ready to put on a show!. She ordered a "Big Mac with no meat and a chocolate shake" and without batting an eye the McDonald's clerks said "do you want that shake with no chocolate!?"

Guess ya had to be there but it was pretty darn funny!.

If it makes you feel better, from just reading in this section, I too have cut back quite a bit on my meat eating!. I really do believe it is just healthier!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Every time I find a vegan recipe that my meat-eating husband loves, it it a great moment for me! I don't mind him eating meat - vegetarianism is my choice, not his - but he knows he needs to eat a healthier diet!. He's willing to try vegan and vegetarian food, but he wants it to taste good!. So far I've made some soups and curries that he loves so much, he wants me to make them for his friends too when they come over!Www@FoodAQ@Com

A new grocery store opened up in my neighborhood (basically right behind my apartment building), so I signed up for the discount shopper program!. The store employee processing my form noticed my email, which has "veggie" in it, and she asked if I was vegetarian!. I said that I'm actually vegan and we got into a conversation about vegan food!. She eats no meat but fish, but wanted to go veg!. I told her how she could get faux fish at one place and other vegan options, websites, etc!. I also told her about the local vegetarian society as well!.

Another example is when my mom visited for a short weekend!. We went to a local vegetarian cafe for a brunch and later that evening, a local pro-veg group was having a benefit party that we went to!. A number of local places had donated food, so my mom ate veg the whole weekend (basically, a day and a half) and enjoyed the food!. She now does vegan Mondays, and my sister decided to do vegetarian Mondays!. It's only one day a week, but any reduction in meat is good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
