Is the best response, no response?!

Question: Is the best response, no response!?
With the recent influx of trolling, I just couldn't hold my tongue any more!. I miss the old V&V, when it was actually supportive, informative, and interesting!. When every question wasn't "Should I become vegetarian!?", "What's the word for people who only eat fish!?", "Vegetarians!.!.!.!.!?" or "[Insert dumb troll question here]"

So my questions is, if we just stop giving them any response at all, be it mad, apethtic, or other, do you think the trolls will just get bored an stop!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The problem being that they are constantly fed a new stream of people to troll, abuse and insult!. The new people will not know they are trolls!.

Ignoring them doesn't help because they have a new set of victims each day who do not know to ignore them!.

We've tried ignoring them several times over the last 2 years!. Its true its bad at the moment, but its been like this before, then it improved for a while!.

Do they think its funny or some sort of achievement!. They just look like loosers to me!. Look at the answer above from Falbulousin or whatever!. Does that person really think they are "ruling" Yahoo and that it actually matters or is some cause for celebration!. Really, what life can they have !?

I only hope that they are all 10 years old and thier PSP battery has run out, thats the only way i can explain it!. If they are older, society is in trouble!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's easier to just ignore them entirely i think!. the frequent users of this site know which people are genuine and which ones aren't!. i plan on ignoring the trolls, but i'm not going to stop being a part of the Y!A community because somebody got bored with their lame life and decided to troll a message board!. the v & v board is extremely helpful and informative, and i'm willing to put up with the crap to get responses from the people whose opinions i value!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just see it from a relaxed point of view! Yes, it is annoying, but think of the drop of water that hollows a stone!. And aggression leads to aggression!. ;)
It is sometimes very offensive, but I believe, that most people who are rough on the outside have a tender inside!.
I practically insulted two "trolls" during the past two days, and I am almost ashamed to admit, that I received very personal, sweet and nice responses!.
It is so easy to judge without knowing!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

There's no point in being mad!. Wasted energy!.
I agree with Spring- do not respond, report, and thumbs down!. However, I also forward the emails to the Y!A team!.

Keep in mind, life gives you what you put into it!. Someone who wallows in negativity has a miserable existence!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes I think it is, I think it works on the same principle as a child having a tantrum for attention, if you ignore the child they will eventually stop having the tantrum!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Many trolls will get bored and move on to other parts of Yahoo Answers!. But you'll always have some trolls that will just ask the most STUPID questions, in any section!.!.!.just for the sake of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes that is a good idea!. Although if I need only like 2 points to get to a good number, that is why I respond to trolls!. Can't help it sometimes!.

I will try your way!Www@FoodAQ@Com

So that means the best question is no question!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Trouble is when their questions in v&v pop up on the general home page or the food and drink page people who don't frequent v&v (and so don't recognise the trolling) pop in and feed the trolls for us with gems like "please tell me you are joking that’s like so terrible!!.!.!.!.!.!." and "OMG that’s just awful how could that happen!" and "you are kidding, you vegans need to get over yourselves" in the belief that they are genuinely answering a massively overly opinionated vegan or an abused veggie teenager rather than a trouble making troll!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When the juicearin (with the bf and his sexy mother) used to post some silly question, I used to answer back with some joke or comment!. After that person started attacking Mrs Reznor, I decided it was going way overboard!. Now, I do not even read any post if it appears to be from a troll!. Not worth my time!.

I do have an idea for the ones who post repeated questions over and over!. Maybe some of the top contributers could make a personal web page of the most Frequently Asked Questions on the V & V section!. Then when we get one of those, just give them the FAQ link and nothing more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Is the best response, no response!?

Yes, by all means!.

But that also definitely means no more questions like this one either!.

Here's what I do!. Their questions: report!. Their answers: report and thumbs down so they disappear!. Their e-mails: see it's from them and delete without reading it!.

On all fronts don't let it bother you!. Be glad you aren't them!.

EDIT: Don't forget to change the setting to "illegal" when you report the trolls that are impersonating other members!.

Jen--good idea about forwarding the e-mails immediately to Yahoo!. On second thought don't delete the e-mails until after you forward them to:

y_answrs_team@yahoo!.comWww@FoodAQ@Com

i dont think its cause is trolling, so much as it is very young people who dont bother to see if their question has already been asked 500 times in the past month!.
"trolling" has been going on for years and years on just about every website that ignorant or under 17 users can access!. its just a matter of time for the site to become popular enough for them to find it!.
if it is something that bothers you so much, to the point of where you will wind up just looking at the screen rather than participate, why dont you find a different forum more 'worthy' of your time (and answers)!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes the Trolls have ruin this fine vegan site!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
