My friend stopped being a vegetarian?!

Question: My friend stopped being a vegetarian!?
She was a vegetarian for animal-rights reasons!. I'm surprised, what should I think!? Does she not care about animal welfare anymore!? She keeps going back and forth and yet she says that one day she will go vegan!? Am I to believe this!?
She ate fish before too!. One day I just saw her chowing on chicken and I was shocked! I think I'll be a vegetarian forever but obviously not everyone feels the same way!? I felt awkard talking about it with her!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Going vegetarian or vegan is a very difficult decision, because it is a lifestyle change!. I've met plenty of people who were vegan or vegetarian for a time, and just couldn't do it anymore!. I'm not saying that's okay, but I can understand the challenge!.

I am basically a vegan, but my willpower is put to the test EVERY SINGLE DAY!. I love being a vegan, but when my husband makes a grilled cheese sandwich!.!.!. my mouth waters!. And when I'm at my mom's house, and she's making some delicious chicken recipe that I grew up eating, you better believe I covet that meat!

However, when one makes a moral decision, it's hard to fully understand when they go against that!. I don't equate veganism with Christianity, but if I knew someone who claimed to be a Christian, sang the songs, talked the talk, and truly believed!. But then later decided, "ah it's just too hard for me," I would be really disappointed in them!. Does that make sense!? How could you see the truth, and then walk away from it like that!?

The moment I learned the truth about the treatment of animals in this country, it changed me forever!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Did you ask her exactly why she stopped!? She might have gotten sick and thought not eating meat is to blame, or she might have found some so-called "humane" meat!. If it is something like having gotten sick, maybe you can talk with her and find some solutions, such as eating more protein or iron-rich foods!. Just make sure you're not acting judgemental!. Just ask her calmly and give advice if you think it's appropriate!. You might also want to remind her why she became a vegetarian in the first place (without preaching!)

If she just decided to give it up for a reasons you find unacceptable (she felt like eating meat), you might have to decide whether you can respect her decision or whether to find some other (vegetarian) friends!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People who become vegetarian and then go back to eat meat, are not and were never vegetarian!. If you really care about animals or you dont like the taste of meat, you just dont eat it!. There can be many reasons to go vegetarian like love and respect for animals, concerns about meats, or hate for the taste of it!.!.!.like me!.!.!.I cant eat something that is bleeding or have been death for days!. I also love animals and I prefer not to eat them or wear them and I dont see a difference between a dog and a cow, they are both animals, mammals, beings!. But like I said!.!.!.your friend was never a vegetarian, if she/he really cares about animals she would be a 100%vegetarian by now!. Dont feel awkard talking about this with her, you are friends and friends respect eachother feelings and beliefs!. Vegetarians are like everybody else, everybody has different ideas and beliefs about many things and that should be respected, like you should respect your friends preferences!. Your friend is prolly confused and she is taking the whole vegetarian thing as a trend and not something she really wants!. Being vegetarian is a life style not a trend or a stage in your life, same thing with going green, you care about the planet your whole life not only on earth day or when the magazines tell you to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am an animal lover myself, but I have never been a vegetarian!. I have vegetarian friends, and I try to be considerate when eating with them!. I also try to only eat meat from reputable sources that treat livestock and poultry humanely!. Your friend may have found sources that she feels comfortable eating from, or she may not have been getting enough nutrition from a vegetarian diet!. Either way, let her figure out her own path, and maybe just choose not to eat with her if it bothers you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well !.!.!. there are Non-vegetarians who become Vegetarians and then back to be a Non-vegetarians!. So far, I seen 3!.

There are many reasons, we are never in their shoes so somethings we just don't know and understand!.

For some going vegetarian is never easy!. It could be the pressure they get from family, their upbring and culture, the not so strong determination and resilence power, no support, hard to find vegetarian food, don't know how to lead a vegetarian life, the list go on and on!.

Some do understand animals welfare but their own desire to fullfil the taste buds is much stronger and overwrite all!.

What can we do!?
We just try our best, to bring awareness of vegetarianism, go into vegetarian business, support each other, try all ways to make going vegetarian easy by either request for more vegetarian friendly product and food in the eateries and market, create more yummy vegetarian/vegan dishes and so on!.

Just wish that those who can't go vegetarian, at least eat LESS Meat and don't waste food!.

Cheers :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was a vegetarian for a year and I did it for animal rights, I saw a peta video and was heart broken!. I was always sick, I have a naturally low immune system and my Doctor told me either I was going to lead a *****y life and always be sick or I was going to have to accept that even if I don't eat animals they are still dying so people can eat them, the fact of the matter is I cannot benefit others or myself if I am always sick and weak!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The same thing happened to me (sort of) my friend Cali clamied to be a Veggie we always talked about it she seemed so Ethical!. I went out with my friends to see her chomping on Dead Cow vile awful Dead Cow I felt tricked and lied!. It was like she was mocking me too i'm a devoted Veg head but I am also a animal rights activist!. I personally would tell her that you feel mocked and offended!. In my opnion your a vegan or veggie or your not there shouldnt be an in the middle!. Tell her to stop lying to you too that's BSWww@FoodAQ@Com

That's really unfortunate!.

Perhaps you could approach her in a strength-focused way!? Tell her that her conviction in her vegetarianism is something you've always admired about her, allthough you've noticed she's wavering from her vegetarianism and you're wondering why!. Perhaps she's become bored with the food she chooses, or perhaps she doesn't feel supported in her efforts, or maybe she's taking flack from "friends" or peers about her choices and that's damaged her self-esteem enough to drive her to conform to the norm!. If there's a barrier to her living a vegetarian life that you're willing to help her overcome, tell her she has your support!. Maybe you two could pick-up some new vegetarian cookbooks at the library, and spend an afternoon together trying new recipes!.!.!. cooking with friends is always fun and hillarious!

I know that veganism was a challenge for me when I didn't have other vegans in my life!. I found an awesome online vegan food forum with lots of other happy, healthy, awesome vegan people and it turns out that their support was what I was missing!.

I know where you're coming from, though!. I have a vegetarian friend who's a former vegan, and I just don't get it!. She used to be totally hardcore AR and wouldn't touch honey if she were starving, and now she's got two sets of leather furniture!.!.!. it's perplexing!.

Best of luck to you and your friend!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just let her figure out her own way in her own time and try to respect her process!. It doesn't have to be awkward unless you allow it to be awkward!. If it is important to you that she becomes a vegetarian, I guess first you need to remember that no matter what you won't have 100% control over whether or not that happens but if you want to encourage it !.!.!. be her ally, support her process and be a good example of how to be a vegetarian!. Hope that helps :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Everybody has different feelings about eating meat!. Just because she eats meat doesn't mean she can't support animals rights or eating only compassionately-treated animals!.
And you should talk to her about it, if it makes you feel weird, because otherwise it could end up costing you your friendship!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe she's just a poser and she's doing it to be cool!. that's what i've seen lately with people at my school!. or she could be finding it really hard to not eat meat!. i've been a vegan for 7 years and at the very beginning it was hard not to eat meat, so i splurged a few times!. maybe that is her problem!. who knows!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe she does still care, but isn't motivated anymore!. Myself, i change my reasons everyday, but never change my mind about being a vege!. But it is how people are, just allow her to may is say "keep experimenting", vegetarianism isn't for everybody!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, ask her about it!. If she says something about not caring or caring but not something, show her this:http://www!.petatv!.com/tvpopup/video!.asp!?!.!.!.
COMPLETELY HEARTRENCHING!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

its her chioce!. my friend kinda did the same thing!. she said she was vegetarain but then decided she would only eat chicken and i went to her house one day and she was having a steak and said she " forgot"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I could bet that she just got tired of not eating meat!. There are vitamins in meat that are vital for you!. I think you should just wait and see what happens!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

She was a vegetarian for attentionWww@FoodAQ@Com

I hope she isn't suffering from clinical depression!. It's odd for someone to make such drastic changes in their beliefs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why does it make a difference!? Let her work out her own ethical stance in her own time!. Or do you seriously choose your friends based on their diets!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's weird!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.in my opinion she doesn't really care about her so-called beliefs!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

dont bug her
if she really wants animal rights she'll be a vegetarian

and if it sickens you to see her eat meat just pretend its tofuWww@FoodAQ@Com

Hate to break it to you, but the only reason the human race has survived is because of eating animals!. Granted, it's healthier to be a vegetarian or a vegan than have a normal meat-filled diet, but being concerned with animal's rights and refusing to eat meat are two totally different things!. ANIMALS are raised to be killed!. If they're killed in a civil, merciful way, then that's the right thing!. But your friend is never going to make a true difference with animals being sacrificed at large!. So let her eat chicken!. You get essential amino acids from certain meat products, and healthy fats (not transfats) from fish!. So it's cool!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why cant vegetarians drink regular milk, if cows werent milked, they would die, besides, cows like itWww@FoodAQ@Com

i dont eat meat at all except for fish
the reason why is cuz i hatee meat
its nasty

i dnt eat it since i was like 5 im 16 nowWww@FoodAQ@Com

Humans are omnivores!. It is quite unhealthy not to eat meat!. Ask a doctor, our bodies are designed for meat and vegetables and so are our teeth!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
