Question: How did you go veg!?
When you decided to be a veg*n, did you phase out meat and animal products or did you give it up all at once!? Why did you choose to do it that way!? I gave it up all at once but I'm always seeing people on here who recommend phasing it out!. What worked for you!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I got one of those "vegetarian starter kits" in the mail b/c it was free!. I know silly huh!? but it totally changed my life!. When I read it and saw the pictures, I was horrified!! I immediately changed my eating habits!. Although I havent cut out dairy completely, its been the hardest, I am proud to say that I havent had a bit of meat since and its been 2 years!. I didnt really have trouble with cravings b/c of the way my view of meat changed!. Instead of seeing bacon, i would see a little piglet being !.!.!.ugh i dont even want to think about!. There were so many great alternatives that I didnt have much problems!. My husband even decided to go vegetarian not long after!

Im soo happy he did! I continued to cook meat for him b/c I didnt think it was right to force him to do somethin he wasnt as concerned about but he eventually learned by example, i guess you could say!. He realized how much healthier it would be for him, how I felt better, and all the things he seen me find out about the things he was eating when I would be doing "research" on it!. I am very grateful to have him! It is awesome not having meat in the house anymore!. GIve him time, you never know :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

there is nothing wrong with eating meat!. God meant it to be that way!. but if you decide to be a full-pledged vegetarian, you have to give up meat, eggs, fish, lipstick and most make-ups (as they are made with the scales of fish), leather products (as they are made of animal hides, fur coats, --------if it is made from an animal, you cant have it!.
i am not a vegetarian!. i love meat!. but most vegetarians!.!.!.!.they are hypocritical!. im glad i could be of some helpWww@FoodAQ@Com

PawPaw!.!.!.that was great! "I" gave ya a thumbs up!. lol!.
In seriousness however, It all depends on the person really!. Like quitting smoking!.!.!.!.there are those who can just give it all up cold turkey like and some who must ween or use a nicotine substitute to ween!. I could never go totally Vegan because I have an addiction to crablegs, oysters, sushi, tuna and salmon!.!.!.oh and sea bass, and flounder and halibut!.!.!.lolol! Sooooo, this would be tough for me, however I can easily cut out chicken, beef, pork, etc!.!.!.!.and would never touch veal once I learned in 87 how veal comes to be!.!.!.sad very sad!. So, basically how you change your eating all depends on "you" and where you are at in your life!. If you had no prob giving up meat all at once then that was right for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been vegaterian for almost a year now!. I stoooped all at once!. Make sure you are getting enough protein!. You can get it from protein bars and protein shakes!. I stopped at once because I felt like if I was going to start something new I wanted to do it all the right, and give it 100%!. Eating meat every-now-and-then didn't seem to make much sense to me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I decided to cut meat out at a very early age!. It was practically overnight!. Some people take years to cut meat out of their diets!
I have never ate meat since, and I feel great!. Not missing meat at all!. I never liked the taste or texture of meat, which is why I don't buy meat alternatives!. ^_^

[edit] Caturdayz- ''cold tofu'' haha =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I haven't had pork for months, But I just went Veggie about a month ago, so I pretty much cut it all out at once!. Now I'm gradullay working my way to Vegan, milk was the first to go, and salad dressings containing milk!. Next will be cheese, sour cream, ice cream, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I gave it up all at once because i didn't like the way animals were treated, so phasing it out wouldn't really work for me!. But if you were going to do it for your health i guess phasing it out might be more helpful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I did it cold tofu XD!.

First, I was so disgusted by the animal abuse industry when I learned of it that even the thought of using something from the industry made me want to puke!.!.!.

Second, its a LOT easier ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

i did it step by step!. i stopped buying the products that i didn't want to eat anymore!. and started buying the good stuff like vegetables and fruits!. luckily i didn't have a lot of meat in my freezer so that was the first item that i stopped eating!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was a non vgtn!. I left non-veg all at once!. A strong will power can make your dreams true!. I have grown up in a non veg family but i and my wife have not used meat or non-v!. material for last many years!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I went vegan for two years once!.

I was chasing after this lovely hippie girl that wear mostly black but we broke it off after about two years and I went back to eating meat!.

We did lots of drugs too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was raised this way by my parents!. I think it's a very healthy way of life!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like you are doing it just to fit in!. Just do what you want!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I went vegetarian, it was on the spur of the moment!. I did some impromptu research, decided over the course of an hour or so, and never ate meat again!.

When I went vegan, I picked a "drop dead" date and then started sourcing staples without eggs, dairy and honey!. I actually stopped eating them altogether ahead of my deadline, but it was definitely more of a process than going vegetarian had been!.

I thing I don't like about phasing it out is that it give whatever food you're perceiving to be hard to give up, a sort of power over you!. The countdown to the last cheese you'll ever eat makes cheese a whole lot more important than it really is! I think people should do what works for them, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I remember reading Eric Scholsser's "Fast Food Nation" one December when I was traveling by air back to Ohio!. After reading about the meat industry, I was disgusted and upset!. I said to myself, "As soon as this plane's wheels touch the earth, I'm not eating ANY type of meat ever again!."
And I didn't!.
For about five months!. (lol) I did some backsliding and ate seafood for a while - but I remained steadfast with the poultry, beef and chicken!.

I'm now a happy vegan and I'm glad I took my vegetarianism a step further!. If I had to do it all over again, I would have researched the dietary lifestyle a bit more first, but I would still go 100% all at once!. I'm a black-and-white type of girl and I don't think weaning myself off would have worked!.
Cheers!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I started the "Eating Right for your Blood Type" Type A blood type is basically a vegetarian diet!. I don't eat any cow or pig or veal!. I still eat turkey, chicken, fish!.!.!.!.!.I don't eat cow's milk but I eat cheese and eggs!.!.!.!.!.I need help! I want to be more of a vegetarian!. I would like to skip the chicken, turkey, and fish!. Help!.!.!.!. What in the world do you people eat besides veggies, fruit, salads!? I use those meat replacements like "veggies crumbles" by Morning Star!. Do you mean I shouldn't be eating that!? I use it for tacos or sloppy joes or lasagna!. I am a mother and wife of 3 children and a husband so I try to eat what they are eating but with my Veggie Crumbles!. I've been doing this now for over 4 years!. Help!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

practically i was a veggie most my life!.!. just didn't go crazy for meat!.!.!.

most times it was hard, icky, gave me heart burn!.!.!. made me constipated!.!.

so i just said!.!. "no more pain, i'm just eating what doesn't hurt"

been alive and well since!.!.!. matter of fact it's sad to say i'm the healthiest person i know!.!.!.

i want my friends to eat better!.!.!. but they keep eating junk!.!. it's not their fault!.!. it's hard to resist!.!.!. most foods are too processed!.!. to full of chemicals and our meats are just the same!.!.!.

very sad but that's how mass production is!.

also makes us a bit sick!.!. tired and gives us complications in our circulatory and digestional systems!.

but i do make them eat more veggies, fruits!.!. OR no beer for them!.!. it's a bad bribe but it works!.

some have had health issues!.!.!. which they did cut down on their processed elements and meat consumption!.!.!. in time things did improve and many are very happy about that and don't miss all that junk!.

which in turn makes me happy!.!.!. because i want my friends around a long, long time!.!.!.!. matter of fact they can try and outlive me as far as i'm concerned!.

oh yeh for nearly 30 years i've been a vegetarian!.!.!.!.

pure!.!. i don't eat dairy!.!. no processed foods!.!.!. no fake vegan or vegetarian stuff (you can't trust it! believe me!.!. most have casein in it!.!. which is dairy) i'm very careful!.!.!. it's tricky, out there is a cruel world making you think you're doing the right thing!.!. but when you dig into the labels and ingredients you soon realize, OOOPS this isn't what it claims to be!.!.!. and then you learn from that!.

i also teach that to people who want to be vegan/vegetarian!.!. most are surprised what they have been eating wasn't truely what it claimed to be!.

it feels good to help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I first became a vegetarian because of my love of animals and then about three months later I became a vegan!. Initially, I didn't plan on being a vegan but, I had read so many ingredients derived from animals that most vegetarians eat, and I felt that I couldn't consume any animal by-products what so ever because I have to be true to myself and my beliefs!. It was actually easier for me to become a vegetarian and then a vegan because as a vegetarian, (I didn't eat meat, eggs, or gelatin) I was trying to find things I could eat that was suitable for my diet and then when I became a vegan, it was just a little bit more strict and difficult but, well worth it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
