Can fresh Asparagus be frozen before cooking?!

Question: Can fresh Asparagus be frozen before cooking!?
Answers:
Blanching a vegetable kills any bacteria that is present!. It is a quick water bath!. Plunge the vegetable into boiling water for no more than 1 minute and then plunge it into ice water!. If you were to cook it for 3 -4 minutes as one person suggested it would be cooked, really cooked, not blanched!. And in my view over coked at that!.

You should blanch it before freezing it!. Put them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then put in ice water for the same time!. When you freeze them, get as much air out of the package as possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. But blanch it by dipping it in boiling water for about 30 seconds!. Then drop in ice water!. This will inhibit enzyme breakdown of the vegetable!. You can then freeze it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
