Give me some ideas on becoming vegan? I never know what to fix for supper?!
I know because of the horrors of the slaughter houses and the awful way things are going right now that it is up to consumers to make the necessary changes!.
I have started to drink soy milk, my husband needed some convinceing!. But now he is on board!.
for senior citizens a total life change is not easy but we are determined!. But never know what to eat!.
He says macroni and cheese!. NO that's milk!.
Tuna casserole, no that's fish!.
One more night of beans and fried potatoes, and corn bread and a big salad!. Please help me out here!.
what do we eat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you're determined to be vegan, you don't make exceptions to the rules!. If you can justify eating eggs because the chicken is "spoiled" - why don't you eat chicken!? Is that chicken not spoiled enough!? What exactly constitutes how spoiled a chicken is!.!.!.their hen house has plush pillows and air conditioning!?
I suggest getting meat substitutes!. If you can get the right brands, they'll still taste good - not like the real thing, but good!. Check out this website for vegan substitutes for all sorts of non-vegan foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eggs aren't vegan, period!. You can make cornbread without them, or you can call yourself a vegetarian and eat the "happy" eggs!. But you can't do both!.
As for ideas, get a couple of great vegan cookbooks!. My diet is more varied as a vegan than it ever was before!. I highly recommend "Veganomicon" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero as a jumping off point!. There's just so much good food in there (including corn bread with a few variations!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi!. I, too, would question calling yourselves vegan and then eating an egg!.
Since you're seniors, why not compromise and be vegetarians!? It does open up all the possibilities of eggs and cheese (and you clearly don't have ethical issues eating eggs)!.
also, I assume if you continue with vegan, your doc is aware of this and you're getting enough calcium!? Older bones need it and the meals you're describing don't have it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Consider soy products!. Soyrizo is really really tasty! There is a tofu-based ground meat product that is pretty good!. Vegan hot dogs are yummy!. Morningstar Farms make very tasty non-animal foods, as well!. Gardenburgers are great, too!. Tofu is great!. I also like this non-dairy (vegan) cheese that I get from the supermarket!. I'm out now, and I cannot remember the name of the brand!. You can also use silken tofu to make treats like vegan cheesecake! Feel free to msg me if you would like recipes or more specific ideas!. Good luck to you guys!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have a family of five to feed, and I too was at a loss as to what to have for dinner!. Not so much because I am newly vegan - we are not!. It is just hard to think about putting it all together sometimes!.
It is much easier now since I figured out that meals are basically centered around spices!. Think about it!. If you had meat, you'd be thinking how you would want to season that meat!. Mexican, Thai, Garlic, Italian, etc!. What is so hard in replacing the meat with your new options!.
These options can be vegetable, tofu, rice and bean, and many other suggestions that have all ready been listed!. As an example: I have chard in the frig at the moment!. Now I can take the chard and add garlic, oregano and a touch of lemon and throw in some white beans, or I can chop up the chard with some sliced onions, broccoli, etc!. add some mexican seasoning and serve on flat bread, fajita style!.
Being vegan has opened up the realm of cooking greatly!. I can use my imagination and my love for food and not be constrained into thinking that only one item will work!. Very liberating!.
also, as an aside, I use VEGWEB!.com!. This is a vegan website and all the recipes are catagorized!. It will show you that you can actually make any type of food and not have to use egg or milk or any other animal derived product!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
