Are you a vegetarian if?!

Question: Are you a vegetarian if!?
You eat fish!!? This dumb, stupid, broad can't fit it into her peroxide, blonde, empty head that if you eat fish and chicken you are NOT a vegetarian! Geesh, it angers me how some people "modify" their vegetarianism to accomodate them!.!.!. I'm sorry, I'm venting here!.!.!. BUT if you eat anything that was once walking or swimming around, you're eating an animal and you are not a vegetarian!. This chick probably heard somewhere that Paris Hilton or some other dumb broad claims to be a vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Wow, some misinformed answers here guys!. Vegetarians do NOT eat fish! It is flesh, a product of the slaughter process!. Please don't be confused!.

Here, this is what the Vegetarian Society have to say about fish:
http://www!.vegsoc!.org/fish/

There you go, straight from the Vegetarian Society themselves! The Society are an authorative source that you can trust!.

Fish may not be 'cute' but they suffer too! And chicken is meat, therefore it is not vegetarian!. You are absolutely right!. Don't worry, some people just want to label themselves as ''Vegetarian'' when actually in reality they are FAR from it!

I completely agree with you!. I think this woman is ridiculously misinformed!. Neither fish or chicken are vegetarian!.

From the Vegetarian Society:
Vegetarians don’t eat fish and they never have!. Many things have changed since The Vegetarian Society was founded in 1847 but two important definitions haven’t:

“ VEGETARIAN” – someone who doesn’t eat animals
“ FISH” – cold-blooded, water-dwelling animal

''Fish may not appear as cute and cuddly as young lambs, however they do feel pain and they do suffer!. The fishing industry is responsible for some of the most environmentally damaging practices affecting our seas and oceans today!. What’s more eating fish can be bad for your health''!.

[edit] Jamie's Angel- yes plants are alive, but they have no central nervous system!. They are not sentient beings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

holy crap, people are SO misinformed!!!!!
please read hollywood's answer for an accurate depiction of the vegetarian diet!.
vegetarians DO NOT eat any type of animal flesh!.!.!.!.fish is an animal and so is chicken!.
for those of you who are saying that pescetarian is a type of vegetarian, you are WRONG!. pescetarian is a type of diet, but not a type of vegetarian: if you are consuming an animal you ARE NOT a vegetarian!.
Jamie's Angel, you might want to do a little more research!.!.!.!.your answer makes me think you're the kind thats a veg to be trendy or to label yourself with something!. there are many things you said in your post that are simply not true!. please don't encourage misunderstandings about veg*nism!.!.!.!.!.make sure you know your facts before answering a question like this!.

basically, if you eat chicken and/or fish you ARE NOT a vegetarian!.!.!.!.!.!.you're a picky eater!. period!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Obviously not!.Vegetarianism is not the only part of human nature where many modify their beliefs to satisfy their animal instincts!.Most people always take the path of lesser resistance!.

Take the bible for example!.The original has been modified many times just to satisfy mans instincts and to try to justify their actions and as one of the consequences of it we had the crusades where many were killed regardless of the commandment thou shall not kill!.

The animal inside us is strong!.We must tame it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, actually it's a quite wide spread(and partially right) assumption that vegetarians eat fish!. I don't know where that comes from, but I used to be vegetarian my whole life until 2 years ago and I remember every single person i told that I am saying: 'well, that's alright you can just eat fish then'!.!.!.I was a vegetarian that did not eat fish, which was quite troublesome because everyone started lecturing me (yeah, well I was a brat) that people who don't eat even fish are called vegans!.!.!.which was when I had to lecture them on the difference between vergetarians and vegans!.!.!.so it's not that blonde chick's fault, who ever you're talking about!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the answers here are incredibly ignorant - Vegans DONOT repeat DONOT eat any animal products whatsoever - no milk, no eggs, no honey, no anything from animals ok!? ABSOLUTELY NO NO NO ANIMAL DERIVED FOODS NOT EVER!!!They do eat grains, vegetables, fruit, tofu, etc BUT NO NO Animal derived products and it is not short for vegetarian its vegan - no animal products whatsoever!!!!! VEGAN

A vegetarian may choose to eat dairy or to eat eggs and dairy but in general terms they are VEGETARIANS ok and there is no shorting of this word just VEGETARIANS

Then there are pescatraians which are peple who eat fish and seafood and vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Let's not use the term "broad" to describe women, no matter how idiotic they are!. Chill with the insults, dear!. And do refrain from posting rants disguised as questions!.

But you're right!. Vegetarians do NOT eat the flesh of any animal, and last time I checked, fishes and chickens are most certainly animals!. I also don't think I ever heard Paris Hilton claim to be veg!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If she eats chicken&fish she's a "flexitarian", somebody who is relaxed about their non-meat eating diet and makes a few exceptions

If she eats just fish she's a pescatarian!. Where you cut out meat and poultry but still consume fish!.

I think it's fine for pescatarians to call themselves vegetarians!.!.!.but NOT flexitarians!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

To answer your question in short no you are not a vegetarian although I have no problem with people using the term pesce or pollotarian both classes of being an omnivore !.

I understand your frustration but please avoid the insults!. If nothing else do so because troll will use any excuse, including sometimes no excuse at all to report you!. I will not of course : ) but know that it does happen quite frequently!.

If such people are talking ignorantly the best possible thing we can do is to remedy ignorance with knowledge!. This is what you are doing via the medium of YA!. Kudos for you : )

Again it will be most effective and the least alienating to do so in as respectful way as possible!. As veg*ns we are the most effective at influencing others to follow suit by showing how the lifestyle has improved our overall being!. This includes our spiritual outlook!.

Blessings : )Www@FoodAQ@Com

lacto-ovo-vegetarians, and lacto-vegetarians, and vegans (the three types of vegetarians) do NOT eat meat OR fish!.
vegans do not eat meat, fish, dairy, or any product made with anything from animals!. some people call themselves vegetarians, just because they don't eat meat, but technically, they're not vegetarians!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i agree completely with what your trying to say, and people who only eat fish are pescatarians!.

pescatarians- only meat they eat is fish
vegeatarian- don't eat meat but do eat animal products [like milk, eggs, etc!.] [not all eat eggs though, by personal choice]
vegan- no meat and no animal products at all
hope it helped :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

You're right!. Definitely not a vegetarian!. Fish is a gray area for some people, but not chicken!. Totally clear cut!. Only!.!. why does it matter to you!? Don't let someone else get you so bent out of shape!. If she wants to eat fish and chicken and then improperly label her diet, who cares!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, you are not a vegetarian if you any kind of animal!. And Carl, vegan is not short for vegetarian!. A vegan does not eat anything that comes from an animal, like dairy or eggs!. Vegetarians do!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A lot of people seem to ignore the 'vege' part of vegetarian!. It seems like there would be more appropriate people to speak to people about vegetarianism than her!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

umm no,i'm a veg,but i don't eat meat,i don't eat egg,when there r birthdays we order for eggless cakes
beat thatWww@FoodAQ@Com

i know!

i dont eat anything that once had a face!Www@FoodAQ@Com

noWww@FoodAQ@Com

vegaterians can actually eat fish (but not chicken) although many don't eat fish!. Im doing it in food tech right now!. Its because fish often have a nice naturalish life before there killed whereas other meat is treated horibly ftrom the day it is born!.
also fish doesn't count as meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A vegetarian (vegan - short for vegetarian) is someone who doesn't eat meat and fish!. They only eat fruits and vegetables!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you eat chicken or fish you are not a vegan!. But you can still be a vegan if you eat animal by-products (milk, cheese, butter etc!.)
Hope this helps kindaWww@FoodAQ@Com

umm hello a vegitarian can eat fish coz I SO DO, OK!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Every one who is answering this question does not have a specific clue whatsoever!

Hun, there are many types of Vegetarians!.

Pesco(latin meaning for fish) Vegetarian, ia Person who consumes fish, and eats anything else besides red meats such as chicken, cow, pork (etc) but they do eat fish and vegetables and other non-animal products

A lacto-Vegetarian would be a Vegetarian who consumes dairy products (Milk is considered an animal product so not many vegetarians eat them)

A Lacto-Ovollo Vegetarian is a person who eats eggs, and milk products along with contating a diet of non-animal products!.

A lacto-provolo vegetarian is one who eats poultry and not red meats, or Mammals!.

It is not ridiculous that Vegetarians eat what is considered flesh of a living thing, some vegetarians NEED the protein that they can not get from just vegetables!.
Vegetarian is not considered for everyone who has health problems, so eating fish or chicken really sustains the need protein!.

Fish being the most considerable! It carries so many healthy omega fats, healthy fatty acids and proteins!.

Plus, consider there population and growth!

Just becuase you think another way about a Vegetarian whom eats fish, don't rant and be ignorant when you do not know as to why!.
I am a pesco-Vegetarian whom can't just consist of eating Vegetables and fruits, they can't give me the needed proteins and iorn I need, if not my kidney will fail and my muscle mass will deteriorate!.
I love animals, but sometimes I need to sacrifice in order to survive, life is life!. get over it

Oh and heres a trick question to jog your brains

So we eat plants the most, and they have flesh, skin, and nerves, breathe oxygen in and out, need Glucose(sugur) to live and sunlight(energy), so doesn't that make it a living thing!.

Seriously, it's a never ending battle!.

so if we Vegetarians get sensitive about one thing, we'd have to end up sacrificing everything!.

Nature is here for a reason!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
