okay, three of these are my reasons and they are all interconnected, not one greater than the other!. my reasons are 1,3, and 4!.
i guess i am veg for religious reasons mostly:
i don't agree with the way animals are treated and raised, then killed for meat!. i do not think that this is what God intended for his creations!. in fact, i don't even think that Jesus ate meat (no one has been able to show me proof in the past few years that i've been asking)!. even if Jesus DID eat meat, i don't believe that he would support the way that the meat industry works today!.!.!.!.it goes against everything Christianity teaches!. I do not take the Bible literally, but I do think that it's greatest lessons are those of compassion, respect, and love for all living things and for the earth that God gave us!. There is no greater way to show love, respect, and compassion than to reject the killing of animals for food!. eating meat is a selfish act, and to follow God's teachings you must practice humility and unselfishness!. I simply don't think that Christianity and eating meat can go together!. As Leo Tolstoy stated, " 'thou shalt not kill' does not apply to the murder of one's own kind only but to all living things, and this commandment was inscribed in the human breast long before it was proclaimed from sinai!."
EDIT: thanks hollywood =)
I would also like to add that these teachings are not exclusive to Christianity!.!.!.!.!.almost every religion on earth teaches these same values, and eating meat simply does not make sense if you are a follower of any religion!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well i always have been a vegetarian!. i tried to go vegan, but it proved really hard!. when i was at school once a week there was a day when all i could eat from the canteen was rice, and so going vegan was a little difficult, as i would have needed to pack a lunch that i didnt have the time to prepare, as i was trying to help get everyone out in the morning!.
as i've got older ive put more thought into vegetarianism!. i think it is cruel the way animals are treated!. especially being breeded just to die!. but i dont impose my beliefs on others!. besides i can actually imagine eating meat, it is like a foreign concept to me, so i guess im a vegetarian for life!.
why people seem to think that you can be veggie and eat fish is beyond me!. i dont eat anything thats had a face!
what gets me though is that in the Bible it says that all life is sacred, well for me this applys to animals as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If I rank some of your reasons in my own priority, I would say
1) I don't like the way animals are treated and raised!.
2) To be more environmentally friendly
The rest are good reasons, but not really my reasons!.
I would say my actual top reason is just because I don't like it!. I don't like the taste of it, the texture of it!. I haven't had it since 15 years ago out of my own choice when I was 8!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I look at my dog, I see a living, breathing being, with a personality who gives me more unconditional love than I could ever hope for!. With that in mind, I cannot even stand the thought of killing and consuming any animal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

2, because its a healthier dietary preference!.
5, although this is my last reason its not really any less important than the others, but they were my initial reasons 13 years ago!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm new to this lifestyle, but my reasons:
I can't say I agree with number one, because I believe that if
an animal is in severe pain (ie!. no chance of recovery, painful disease etc), they should be euthanized as a show of courtesy (ie!. keeping the animal from having more pain)!.
As someone studying for the VTNE, this is one of the unfriendly and unpleasant tasks that people have to get accustomed to when it does occur!.
I also think it's weird to eat the animals I want to help save!.
2!. I do it for my health:
After having my daughter, I've wanted to really set a good example for her!. I feel that living a healthy lifestyle can
teach her well in life, and I firmly believe in showing by example!.
I would also like to lose some baby weight, so that helps!
I also feel like eating healthier will help me to being more conscious of my decisions!.
3!. My religion/ spiritual views
I was raised as an Orthodox Jew, so I've never eaten pork or shellfish!. The Torah is pretty adament about treating animals in a fair and respectful manner!.
I don't really follow any religion nowadays but:
Animals are actually supposed to fed before people, and rest on the Sabbath as well!.
You can also note: A lot of well-known people in the Torah
were picked because of their compassion to animals!.
4!. I don't like the way animals are treat & raised
I agree 100%
