There is proof that meat is unhealthy, one fact is that it increases your risk of heart disease!. you dont NEED meat for protein as there are tonnes of totally non-animal related food that contain so much protein and 'good fats' rather than pure animal fat!.
also, to whoever said its a 'teen fad', i will make one point: meat eaters can eat what they want and are making their lives easier by doing so, whereas vegetarians are making their lives harder (having to check everything they eat, very difficult to eat out, plus getting hassle from meat-eaters all the time), why would somebody make their life so much harder for the sake of a 'teen fad', thats ridiculous!. meat eaters will always make up excuses, but basically they just like the taste and would rather be ignorant - wouldnt we all!. if you can admit that then good for you, but some should stop being hypocritical, thinking its ok for them to have their opinion on how we are meant to eat animals but not allowing others to believe we arn't meant to!.
if it was natural for humans to eat meat then how come there are so many people who believe its wrong to eat meat!? and i know a lot of meat eaters who would not be willing to actually kill an animal!. the way i see it is simply this; if you are willing to kill an animal for food, then you should be able to eat it because you can back up your point of meat-eating being natural, however if you cant kill it then surely you are going against your belief of humans being meat-eaters!.
nobody knows the right answer, people need to accept that others have different opinions!. you cant really help what you believe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have been meat free for 11 years, and I am not missing meat at all!. I understand that vegetarianism is not for everyone!.
But it works for me!. I am happy with it!.
Albert Einstein was a vegetarian, he was one of the greatest scientists ever!.
This is a quote from Einstein- ''Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet''!.
I have spoke to both professors and nutritionists on the issue!. Any worthwhile Nutritionist will say that a properly balanced vegetarian diet is very healthy!.
[edit] Plants are NOT sentient beings, they have no central nervous system!. Last time I checked, carrots don't scream when you chop them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

God created man to be a vegetarian!. The original diet was fruits, grains and nuts!. After sin, vegetables were introduced because of their minerals to sustain life as man started to die slowly!. After the flood, God allowed man to eat meat as there was no vegetation and he even put his blessing on it!. Being vegetarian is still the best diet for mankind!. God is our master designer and he knows what's best for us!. Food digests quicker and better and it exits the body quicker than meat which can take up to 72 hours to leave the body!. There is nothing negative about being a vegetarian as long as its done correctly eat a well balanced diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I dislike meat, it makes me feel sick when I eat it, therefore being a vegetarian is a natural thing for me, in the same way as a lot of people don't like different things (my boyfriend won't eat vegetables for instance)!. I don't preach to people about cruelty to animals or anything and I have no problem with other people eating meat (I also cook it for said boyfriend) however I wouldn't eat it myself, it's a personal choice!. I am reasonably heathy (other than a dodgy knee from playing football when I was younger)
EDIT: I am not a teenager (I'm in my mid twenties) and I have been a vegetarian for 9 years (a very long fad!?)
EDIT2: Wouldn't call myself an overgrown teen either, I'm reasonably bright with my own house\mortgage\nice car and studying for a PhD (unless suddenly they've started allowing anyone to become a research scientist now!?)
EDIT3: PSF 11: The reason I don't preach (like some vegetarians do) to people about cruelty or any other "issues" concerning animals is because that is not the reason I am vegetarian!. I did not say I hate meat anywhere in my answer which makes me wonder whether you took the time to read it all!? I also said I don't have a problem with other people eating it (like I said my boyfriend will only eat meat, he doesn't eat vegetables)!. I dislike it, it tastes horrible to me!. Why does that make me gullible!? People dislike other things without causing an argument, as well as meat I also dislike tomatoes, bananas (another food which makes me feel sick just to think about them) and beetroot and don't eat them either but I take it you wouldn't have a problem with that!? I said further in my answer I have no problem with anyone else eating it but you wouldn't force people to eat anything else they disliked so why the big problem with me not eating meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

lmao to who ever said that animals were NOT put on this earth to eat is rediculous haha No, you're right remeber all of the great things COWS have done! and what about them pigs, they have really made a difference lmao sorry, couldn't help it, if you choose not eat it thats fine, but it is what it was put here for!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
it keeps your weight down, i think its dumb becuase meat isnt bad and u need it for protein, which is a good way to get it!. U shouldnt exclude things from your diet , but i dont truly know their reasons cause ima a meat lover!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
to psf11 it is NOT silly im a teenage girl and im not trying to "fit in" i belive its not right to eat animals they werent put on our earth for that, and anyway there not ours to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think it's mostly a teenage fad in which teen girls (mostly) who don't like meat much anyway feel they are part of a club to participate!. If you don't believe me, look at most of the vegetarian questions and who writes them!.
Realistically, it doesn't make sense to opt out of our natural place in the food chain!. If it were so natural, people wouldn't have to question and work so hard to find the right combination of vegetables to be healthy!.
Yes, in the grand scheme of things-- it's silly!.
*******EDIT************
frankiee!.!.!.-- think what you want, be as wrong you want!. Why are we, and we alone, wrong for eating animals when every other omnivore/carnivore on the planet okay with it!? Sorry you have trouble accepting reality!. You should work on that!.
*****EDIT*********
I should have specified-- teens and OVERGROWN teens!.
*****EDIT*************
Tilly, You already proved my point!. You started out with how you "hate meat"!. I'm sure this is what sparked your interest in such a silly thing!. If you liked it, we probably wouldn't be discussing this now and you'd be having a burger!. No other animal in the world thinks it's "cruel" to eat its natural food!. If cruel methods are the problem, take THAT on-- not the natural eating of meat!. I can handle that as a legitimate argument, I'm just SICK of the ridiculous argument that we aren't supposed to eat meat!. That's just stupid!. You're worse than an overgrown teen for saying it-- your a gullible adult!.
*****EDIT************
Don't play with words to get your way!. You opened your entire argument with "I dislike meat, it makes me feel sick when I eat it!.!.!."!. Are you going to fixate on whether that equates to "hate" or not!? My point remains-- you DON'T like meat from the get-go or you probably wouldn't even have chosen vegetarianism otherwise!. THAT'S my point and you know it, but thanks for your long diversion tactic!.
The fact you don't "preach" means you have a kernel of good sense somewhere in there since the vast majority of us KNOW we are omnivores and preaching against meat makes about a much sense as preaching against air intake-- unless you're a silly teenager!.
*******EDIT**********
I think my point is proven by the large number of thumbs down and the large teen population around here!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
