If you KNEW your meat was cruelty free, would you eat it?!

Question: If you KNEW your meat was cruelty free, would you eat it!?
Here's a scenario: Let's say it's a beautiful world and you own a house and some land!. You have a henhouse where your laying hen, Gertie, lays eggs for your morning breakfast!. Daisy the cow gives you milk!. You had a pig, Elia, but she was slaughtered last week to make meat to last through the season!. You have a half dozen hens - Strawberry, Angel, Chryanthemum, Coffeebean, Speckle, and Pepper - who all live happily and will eventually become dinner!. Every animal lives happily, and those animals who are unfortunate enough to be in line for slaughter are guaranteed a merciful, painless death at your hands!. Okay, now back to reality!. If this ideal world existed, would you still be a vegetarian/vegan/whatever your dietary choice is!? If the animals were guaranteed happy lives and quick deaths!? What would you do, how would you feel!? If the meat industry ever becomes truly humane, will you change your lifestyle!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I am fortunate enough to have my own hens (Nugget, Cheddar, Henabelle and Henrietta), and my own lovely cow, Abigail!. I consider their eggs and milk enough of a gift-no need to kill them for food!. With all of the great vegetarian options, I personally see no reason why any creature has to die in order for me to eat!. Furthermore, I see no reason to feed my body dead critters, and let decaying animal flesh stop up my digestion-it just doesn't make good sense to me!. I feel much healthier on a vegetarian diet, and plan to stick with it!. I think those lil farm critters deserve a life as much as I do, and I don't think there is ANY way to "humanely" kill a living animal!. If the meat industry did a sudden turn around (now THERE is a fantasy), I would remain a vegetarian!. My garden is in full swing, and I plan on enjoying every last bite of the food mother nature provides-and nothing has to bleed for me to eat well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, this would change my viewpoint!. Unfortunatley, the majority believe that we do need meat to survive and be healthy!. I have good friends that are both vegetarian, and that eat meat!. Even though someone may not admit it, it probably would give a meat eater piece of mind in a world like that, and myself personaly I would continue to eat meat but have a sense of relief, because I am an animal lover!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You know, I likely still would not eat meat!. I just don't like the texture and flavor of it!. 17 years ago I became a vegetarian because I didn't like the taste of meat!. At that time I was too young to know/care about how animals are slaugtered!. I still don't like the taste of meat, which is my biggest reason for being a veggie, closely followed by the health benefits!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

nope!. because I'm not a vegetarian only for animal rights reasons, but for my health!. I'm high risk for heart attack and stroke as that is what killed both my grandfathers!. I would, though, take the eggs for baking occasionally, but not the milk (I'm lactose intolerant)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I eat meat anyways!. If you are any form of a vegetarian then more power to you but I prefer my meats and soy just doesnt come close!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

NO, even though they were very well taken care of!.!.!.!.the slaughter is MURDER!. who cares how well you take care of them, well i mean its good if you do, but your still killing them!. imagine how much pain that causes them!

VEGETARIAN AND PROUD!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have one question for you!. How do you expect to produce meat without cruelty!? Unless you let the animal die of old age or something, and then eat its corpse!. Or are you insinuating that killing is not cruel!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, I couldn't eat an animal I had met while it was alive!. BUT if I knew all meat that you buy at a supermarket was treated that way, then I would eat it, but it isn't, so I don't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People still live this way, it isn't a thing of the past, by any means!.
I'm not a vegetarian, but I am sure they have other reasons beyond my knowledge for their preferences!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I would eat it all!. Grill it, bake it, fry it (espeicially the chicken!.!.impress me with red beans and rice and a biscuit on the side!.!.mmmm), mmmm good, however I am far from vegan or vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

In reality, you do not name the animals on your farm except your horses, cats, and dogs because you do not eat them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no!.!.killing is killing!. If they were happy when why don't you let them live their life out!? If you were living a happy life would you want it all to be taken away from just to feed some greedy humans!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

no!. i like being a vegetarian too much, and the fact of the matter is: it isn't like that and hasn't been since the 1800's!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, if you look at it that way, we are omnivores, and if animals were guaranteed happy lives!.!.!.why not!? Some animals left in the wild get eaten and have to run all day long!.!.!. SO why not!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

NO! killing things isn't ever cruelty free!. also, you are eating dead flesh! ewww! To me it isn't very different from cannabalism!. No thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, because it would feel like losing a family member!. I can become really attacted to animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There's no such thing as "cruelty-free murder!."

I will always be vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would eat meat without guilt if this was the case!. I am not a vegetarian!. I have nothing against them though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. Eating animals is never humane!. They still wouldn't have a say on whether their life was taken from them or not!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I never had a hog, but we used to treat our chickens and rabbits this way when I grew up!. Except for those ones I sold to the packing house!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No because i feel eating animal is wrong wrong!Www@FoodAQ@Com

yea i would still be a vegetarianWww@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarian!.!.!. and no I would not eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There's just too many 'ifs' in your scenario for it to be possible!. We humans have made our planet a point of no return, and it would probably take centuries to get to a place like you are describing "if" many humans decided to change!. The meat industry won't listen until a large percentage of the population wants them to listen!.

As for me, myself, I!. Well, I cannot intentionally kill an animal!. I don't like meat!. So it's unlikely that I will ever eat meat no matter how cruelty free you or someone else thought it was!.

I do understand where you are going with this though!. I see that you are examining the fact that animal rights activists scream about horrible animal abuse!. You are probably wanting to determine if the meat industry cleaned up the rampant abuse, would it make a difference to the vegetarians and vegans!. No it would not!.

1) PETA is making billions of dollars off people who do not see through their hypocrisy!. They do not intend to let go of those donations!.

2) Sincere vegans who are not affiliated with PETA and other such groups do not want to eat meat under any circumstances!. We have many better options!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all, there is no such thing as cruelty free meat, unless you waited for the animal to die of natural causes before you decided to eat the carcass!. In your scenario there is no cruelty free meat!. The act of killing an animal for the sake of eating its flesh IS CRUEL!. Sorry!.

Lets just pretend for a moment that cruelty free meat is a possibility and that it was available!. The answer would still be no, since I have found out the hard way that if I eat meat, I will be unhealthy, lethargic, and overweight!.

I think you posted this questions with good intentions, so I am not trying to come across as sounding condescending or harsh, and I apologize if I sound that way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I would still be veg*n!. "Happy meat" is a myth that meat eaters tell themselves to avoid having to face reality!. Snuffing out a life in its prime is not humane and never will be!. If anything, I would be *less* likely to eat an animal I had raised, cared for and named!. It would be like eating my dog!. Not to mention the fact that even "happy" cows have to eat many pounds of plant protein and consume many hundreds of gallons of water to produce a single pound of meat protein!. And not to mention the fact that even "happy" beef is a source of saturated fat and cholesterol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd rather stay ignorant so I can eat my double, triple cheeseburger topped with bacon in peace!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, the Lord made animals to be consumed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Liberals!.!.

I just don't know!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i would eat it!.
i looove meat!.
m m m mmmmm!.

I think it's a big mistake to name animals that are earmarked for food, be it eggs or meat, especially if children are involved!. Livestock meant for survival should never be considered or treated as pets, and ignoring this will make you and your familys' life a lot more diffiicult when it comes time to eat!. I'm not trying to sound mean it's just that an animal with a name becomes a pet by default, there's no way around it, except to not name it!.
I don't want to go out this evening and have to kill an animal that my wife and kids have named Coffeebean or ANGEL, but at the same time what kind of a man would one be if he were to attached to the animal to slay it , or worse yet, what would become of his family !?Www@FoodAQ@Com
