Questions for Vegetarians and Vegans...?!


Question: Questions for Vegetarians and Vegans!.!.!.!?
I am thinking of becoming a vegetarian for health reasons, and have gone for long periods of time (almost a year a couple of times) without eating meat or poultry!. But I have the hardest time staying away from fish and dairy - cheese in particular!.

For those of you who had to change your eating habits, how hard was it!? And what suggestions do you have!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

i started off by giving up meat, but still ate fish, dairy and eggs etc!. i also used to eat a few products containing meat like jelly!. i gradually stopped eating any meat products and became very strict on it (this was after about a year)!. i then gave u fish (about 3 years into it) and now, a year after that, i have given up dairy!. i definitely would not have been able to do it if i gave all up in one go!. doing it gradually helped a lot!. im sure you probably find it quite easy giving up meat alone, once you get used to that (since you wouldnt eat fish everynight) you could try giving up fish because you would be more aware of the other foods available to eat!. however, i gave up fish and dairy for ethical reasons, i would suggest giving up dairy more than fish because dairy can be quite unhealthy for you!.

the main thing i find hard about giving up dairy is about what to put in sandwiches for lunch!. you can actually get vegan cheese, some i found to be quite nice (there is some sort of mexican style cheese), but some are really disgusting to be honest, and i am not one to complain about food - it tastes really pasturised sometimes and strong smelling!. you can get vegan style ham, the cream cheese is quiet nice - tastes very similar to normal cheese, however i get sick of having this a lot!. vegetable pate has got to be one of the best fillings for me with saladWww@FoodAQ@Com

You have already taken such a wonderful decision in changing the way you eat, so don't push yourself!.
I am vegan, but I think everyone has the right to eat what s/he wants!. Food should be fun!
If you want to stop eating fish, try some braised tofu with a bit of lemon and sea weed, it is lovely!
You can try different types of milk like soy, rice or almond milk, and they make wonderful yogurts and soy creams which I use a lot!. There is also vegan cheese, but its not the same thing!.
I use yeast flakes on pizzas and wherever I used to put cheese, Sometimes I also drizzle a bit of tahini mixed with breadcrumbs on my cauliflower before it goes into the oven for an "au gratin"!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

For one you could start researching within yourself and all the info available to you about what eating animal products do to your body!. Then a good way to start is to start making yourself green smoothies!. One big hanful of spinach, one whole unpeeled apple, one whole orange peeled, one cup of pineapple, 2 freshly frozen bannans, half cup of water, blend, add half cup of ice, blend and serve 2 happy folks!. Start everyday with something like that!. Drink at least a quart a day!. Then it will make it easier to move further into the lifestyle!. Ditch the animal products!. For example,,,,Nice organic spinach contains 30 percent of its calories from protien!. 16 percent of Organic Kales calories are protein!. Didnt know that i bet!. Good luck!. It matters if you want to be a vegan or just a Vegetarian!. Vegans Dont eat/drink anything that comes from animals
Vegetarians just dont eat animals!.

If I were you I would try to be a Vegetarian so you could have milk cheese ect!.

But if you really want to be a vegan try consentrating you're eatig habbits on something else that you love even more than that other stuff!.

There is such thing as a pesco-lacto-ovo-vegetarian!. That means that you can eat fish, eggs, and dairy!.
However, a lot of people consider that not to be vegetarianism!.
Maybe you could just start off with that, and then eventually cut out the fish!?

And for me, it was not hard to change at all!. The first week was the worst, and then it was smooth sailing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i acsually turned vegetarian by accedent it was like over 6 months without eating meat without even relising after that i started felling bad for eating meat and if i c someone eating it !.
so just take it slow and just start by just eating i fish course a week until u just dont want it anymoreWww@FoodAQ@Com

Go to stores like Henrys or Trader Joes and more organic stores liek that, they have vegan and vegetarian meat substitutes that are great! They even have vegan cheese ect!. ive been living vegetarian for 3 years now thnx to them ( and i havent slipped and ate meat @ all ! )Www@FoodAQ@Com
