Vegetarians: would you eat test tube meat from an animal that wasn't killed?!
there is a new nascent technology whereby meat is grown from stem cells of an animal!. they take a cell from an animal without killing it or harming it and grow a piece of tissue (muscle, skin, bone, etc!.) in a cell culture dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Maybe, I don't know!. But I sure would prefer that over the BILLIONS of animals that are suffering daily for meat right now!. Even if some animals are hurt during it, the numbers will not even compare to the amount there are right now dying for peoples taste buds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No, and here's why!.
Not all vegetarians chose to be vegetarian because of animal rights!. Some do it for the environment, some do it for religious reasons, some do it to cut down on their grocery bill, and some just don't like the taste or idea of animal flesh!.
For example, I became vegetarian to battle genetic stomach problems that weren't subsiding any other way!. I didn't give up meat because I was upset about animals being killed (though it's a plus that I'm contributing less to animal suffering now) so much as the meat was bad for me!.
Therefore, it wouldn't matter how meat was produced!. I still wouldn't eat it!. And I can't think too many meat eaters would want to eat something cultivated in a petri dish, either!. Who knows how the cells in that product have mutated!? Talk about a bad decision for your health!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, and this is why!. The animal that they got the stem cells from, was probably from an animal testing / factory farm type of environment!. Never are those animals treated well, and all animals during animal testing are killed during or after the testing on them is complete!. Even if, say, at the fascility, the cells were taken and the animals were released!. The animals were probably not raised there, they would have come from a farm!. It came from an artifically inseminated cow who was forced away from its mother was sold in an auction, or by some means to the testing facility!. They won't have a need for that cow for its entire lifespan of 20 years, so once they are done with it, if they don't kill it as you say, they will sell it via auction, to a farmer, where it will get slaughtered!.
I don't eat animal products because it is not our choice!. Cows don't walk up to us and say "hey! can you kill me, skin me, then eat me!?", and the cows in which the stemcells were taken from surely did not say that either!.
And besides all those technicalities, meat is gross dead flesh!. Sick!. Why would you want to eat that if its more natural and healthy to be vegan/vegetarian!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!.
First, as was said, it's impossible to ensure humane care for the living animal!.
Second, I am personally disgusted by the thought of meat!. Nothing is less attractive than the though of consuming flesh!.
Third, I'm a mostly-organic vegan because it protects me from the dangers of hormones and modification in our foods!. Why on earth would I eat something from a lab!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

That would be even more gross than eating meat from an animal, it is synthetically and chemically grown which is pretty freaky to put in your body I'd say!. I never liked the taste of meat anyway even when I wasn't vegetarian!. The only thing I liked were Big Macs from McDonald's lol
