Vegans, what if you took a bite of a dish you ordered and realized it had cheese in it?!

Question: Vegans, what if you took a bite of a dish you ordered and realized it had cheese in it!?
This has happened to me several times at a place called the Laughing Planet that specializes in burritos!. If you don't specify no cheese you get cheese!. Long story short I have gotten more than one burrito from there that I did not realize there was cheese in it until one to several bits into it!. This effectively means if I took it back it would go into the trash!.

In such situations I just go ahead and eat it!. The demand is already paid for and the product effectively used!. I feel it immoral to throw such things away and use up more resources simply because I want to be legalistical a vegan!.

I still consider myself a vegan as I believe there is a spirit to the lifestyle and that being legalistic actually eliminates many of the positive benefits of striving to live your life as one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
the whole point of me being vegan was to be more earth-conscious and think about every part and parcel of the planet, and do my part to be resonsible by not buying into the animal product industry!. i highly commend your rational thinking about not wasting the food and just eating it, that is the same thing i would do!. if i could do anything about it, i would try to scrape off the cheese or whatever and eat the rest, but i would never waste perfectly good beans and tortilla!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not vegan but I'm glad that that's what you would do!.

Sad that probably the majority of vegans would not!. Millions of people go to bed starving every night in this world yet vegans are willing to throw perfectly good food away!. Sad!. Sickening!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Last time I went to the nearest cow and got on my hands and knees and started begging for forgiveness!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly, I agree with ~e~Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should commend yourself for thinking about the well-being of everyone, and avoiding wastefulness!.
I think your reasoning is logical and sound, but I can't say that I would do the same!. At this point I'm so disgusted by dairy products I actually couldn't eat the rest of it, even if I thought I should!. I might save it and offer it to someone who would want it!.!.!. and someone who doesn't mind sharing your germs :) My dog would be very happy to receive such an offering!.

I guess the best thing to do is remember to explicitly state that you can't have cheese on your food!. If you say 'can't' then they will be more likely to remember because they may think you have an allergy or lactose intolerance!.

I think your overall reasoning is good, but I can't say I would eat the cheese :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would call the waiter/waitress back and explain to him or her that I was vegan and did not realize this dish had cheese in it!. I would tell him or her to please take it back and get rid of it, and I will gladly pay for it, as well as another meal, just please make the 2nd meal vegan!. I would tell him/her thank you and that I'm not upset, it's no big deal, I just can't eat this and I realize it was my mistake and ask for a 2nd meal!. Basically I would say

" Excuse me, but I made a mistake ordering, I'm a vegan and I can't eat cheese, and I am not upset or anything, I apologize for the inconvenience, but please take this meal away and I'll pay for it and another meal, but please make the 2nd one vegan!? Thanks!"Www@FoodAQ@Com
