[Vegetarians only!] Do you think vegetarians are more ethical than meat-eaters?!
And if not, why are you a vegetarian!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I think if a meat-eater knows the same facts that vegetarians do, and decides to continue eating meat DESPITE that, in that case I think the vegetarian is more ethical!.
But it varies from person to person!. Some vegetarians choose this diet not because they are compassionate towards animals, but because they want the health benefits!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Of course they are!. Everyone knows that meat eaters are a curse on this world!.
My fellow veg mates, Hitler and Pol Pot agree!
Seriously, if I chose to eat veg, it may or may not, at my sole discretion, have something to do with my ethics!. Look at the two tossers I mentioned above!. Vegetarian and vile!. Plenty of good meat eaters around, and some good veggies too, but if I am not a veg, I am no less likely that you to be ethical, just on slightly different terms!.!.
Bekah: I know the same facts that you, and other vegetarians do, you have no monopoly on truth or ethics!. The idea that eating meat is wrong is an ideology, and based on opinion!. I may lack ethics by your standard, but I am neither bound by your standard, nor subject to it's self-proclaimed judgement of my ethical fibre!.
also, the term "vegetarian" is defined by diet, not ethics, so a lifestyle vegetarian is just as much a vegetarian as a one who adopts it for some ethical reason of their own!. I am very sure that my ethics are just as good as my vegetarian neighbour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am not sure where you got the def!. of the word "vegetarian" - but this is what I found:
-noun
1!. a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc!.
–adjective
2!. of or pertaining to vegetarianism or vegetarians!.
3!. devoted to or advocating this practice!.
4!. consisting solely of vegetables: vegetarian vegetable soup!.
No mention of animals or having more care for them at all!.
To be honest - the def!. also covers those that make the choice of being 'vegan' as well!.
I have met people that have ethics that eat meat - just as I have met people that are vegetarian that didn't (the exact opposite of what you suggest)!.
I have found through out the years that to limit a view to only one small portion vs!. looking at an overall - is to get a limited view!.
Ethics has more to do than just if a person does/n't eat meat!.
Yes - I am a vegetarian!. I am a vegetarian that eats no meat, poultry, eggs, once in awhile will eat cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The definition of vegetarian only implies that the person eats a no-meat diet!. It does not include anything about ethics, so of course people who are vegetarian for religious, health, or money reasons can also be called vegetarian!.
That said, I think that it varies from person to person as well!. It is very hard to judge ethics!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No I don't!. Just because someone eats meat does not mean they are a less ethical person than I am!. Their ethics in other areas may far surpass mine or those of other vegetarians - or not!. We are all people!. I don't think how great we are are people is totally defined by how we eat and there are those who have no choice but to eat meat - either for health or other life limitations!.
What I dislike is that many of my fellow vegetarians are so darn judgemental!. They make us look bad and close the minds of those who eat meat because they think they have to turn into elitist, judemental buttheads to become veggie!.
Why I'm a veggie - health and compassionWww@FoodAQ@Com

i wouldnt say more ethical, i'd just say we have different beliefs!. like, meat-eaters believe that animals are below us in the food chain or whatever so they can be eaten!. I'm a vegetarian because I think people can survive and be healthy without having to kill animals, its all completely unnecessary!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i don't think that they're more ethical than meat eaters!. because vegetarians ignore cows and chicken!.
they're not interested how a cow-mum feels when she lose her baby!. people incl vegetarians want their diary-products!.
and the veggies don't care about the chickens life!. look, how they have to live!. only for the reason that you can eat their eggs :-(
in my opinion it's not enough not eating animails!. it's important making all of them a good and happy life!. they are not on this world to used by people!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some are, some aren't!. You're mistaken to imply the word "vegetarian" is strictly bound to animal welfare and ethics!. Many are vegetarian because of dietary and religious reasons not affiliated with ethics regarding animals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
this is pretty much the same as your last question, so just look at my response there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
