Source of Protein?!

Question: Source of Protein!?
Can anyone tell me a list of foods that can give you protein, other than meat!?

also, if you eat meat almost daily and then you decide to turn vegetarian, can there be any health risks!?

Thanks!.

Answers:
I went from meat to no meat overnight and there were no health problems!. In fact, my health has improved a lot!.

The vegetarian society has a page about protein here: http://www!.vegsoc!.org/info/protein!.html

Note, you do not need to take any vitamin supplements if you ensure you are getting a balanced diet anyway (like everyone would do normally when they eat meat)!. And vegetarians don't eat fish, as they are not vegetation!. Pescitarians do!.

also, on the subject of iron - do not have too much in your diet as this can be as bad for you as not having enough!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is protein in a surprising foods,eg vegetables or fruit etc!.The quantity is less, but the quality is so good the body absorbs 100%!.Animal protein is very difficult for the body to extract it and so absorbtion is so poor that it circulates in your bloodstream for years!.People consume too much protein, and so veg protein is less, better quality and good for you!.Anything from nuts to a stick of celery has proteinWww@FoodAQ@Com

Good sources of protein for vegetarians include nuts and seeds, pulses, soya products ,tofu, soya milk and textured soya protein such as soya mince, cereals -wheat, oats, and rice, free-range eggs and some dairy products (milk, cheese and yoghurt!.

visit this website for help and information on a vegetarian diet, you shouldn't incur any health risks as long as you eat a healthy and varied diet!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Good vegetarian sources of protein include almonds, black beans, cashews, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), fake meats, kidney beans, lentils, lima beans, peanut butter, pinto beans, seitan, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, textured vegetable protein (TVP), and tofu!.

I'm not aware of any health risks!. I went vegetarian overnight without any problems!. Just make sure you keep eating enough calories for your body weight and include fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains in your diet!. It is possible to have an unhealthy vegetarian diet if you eat mostly carbs and junk food!.

Good luck!

EDIT: Vegetarians do not eat animal flesh, and fish are animals!. Fish is not a vegetarian source of protein!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Almost every food has protein in!. It's almost unheard of to have a protein deficiency, even on a vegan diet, so you really don't need to put that much effort into consuming lots of protein!. Unless of course, you're an athlete or trying to put on muscle!.

Foods which are particularly high in protein include wholegrains (brown bread, brown pasta, cereals, brown rice), nuts, seeds, soy milk, tofu, beans, seitan, meat substitutes!.

As long as you eat a balanced veg diet you should be fine switching over!. Just do your research and make sure you're eating right!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First off the only health risk is not doing your research and becoming a junk food vegetarian!. Get a couple vegetarian cook books and read up!.

Second I can't give you a complete list of foods that give you protein, because they all do with the exception of white sugar!. These are the one's that are highest in protein: beans, seeds, nuts, whole grains, eggs, dairy products, tofu and other soy products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no there's probably health bonuses if anything!
nuts, such as soya and pumpkin seeds
soya mince is also great
and there's always good old quorn mince
additionally, stuff like quinoa has lots of protein and is really good for you!. milk has protein but be careful of the fat/sugar!.
check out the whole foods section of your local supermaket, or your local health shop like holland&barret they will have all sorts of stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Peanut Butter
Beans
Some soy products

Not sure if there would be health problems, but I'd gradually wean off meat as your body might accept it better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Source Of Protein

-Eggs
-Milk
-Cheese
-Other dairy products

Unless you're deciding to go vegan, you can eat any of those and gain protein!.

Fish is a big source of protein and some vegetarians still eat fish!. You can also eat soy and some beans!. I think tofu might be okay as well!.

You need to make sure that you don't become anaemic!. A big risk of going vegetarian is that you'll lose a lot of iron!. You get most of your iron from red meat and it produces your red blood cells which are vital for your oxygen supply!. You also need it for some other body functions and a lack of it can cause long-term health problems and anaemia!.

To counter this, take yourself off meat slowly and make sure you take vitamin tablets!. also eat lots of dark green vegetables such as broccoli or spinach because these supply you with iron too!.

Hope I've helped!Www@FoodAQ@Com

sheep eyeballs are an excellent form of protein, lol disgusting but i did see that on a survivor show last night ,
