I'm having difficulties making garden burgers from scratch...?!
They always taste very yummy, but I can't get the texture right!. They are always still mushy in the middle when they are done cooking!.!.!.
Would adding another egg help, maybe!? I don't want to add more bread crumbs, because they aren't that rich in nutritional value or protein!. ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated!.
My recipe is as follows:
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 egg
2 handfuls bread crumbs
1/2 cup frozen chopped spinach (thawed and drained)
numerous spices- garlic salt, pepper, cumin, red pepper flakes, italian seasioning
I mush this all together with my hands!. This makes 4 small patties and I fry them in a pan with oil over medium/high heat!.!.!.about 4 minutes on either side!.
Any suggestions!? Thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You might try adding some finely shredded raw potato- adds stability and texture!. And try making the patties thinner, and cooking at medium heat for 6 minutes per side!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
INGREDIENTS:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
3 green onions, diced
1/2 tsp cumin
3/4 cup diced fresh mushrooms
1 15 ounce can pinto beans
1 tsp parsley
salt and pepper to taste
oil for frying
PREPARATION:
Sautee the onions and garlic in olive oil for 3 to 5 minutes, until onions are soft!. Add the green onions, cumin and mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes, until mushrooms are cooked!. Set aside!.
Mash the beans with a fork or a potato masher, or process in a food processor until well mashed!.
Add the mushrooms to the beans and add parsley, salt and pepper!. Stir until well combined!.
Shape the mixture into patties!. Heat about two tablespoons of olive oil and cook each patty until the veggie burgers are done, about 3 minutes on each side!.
Try this recipe or cook yours on a lower heat, thawed spinach still holds a lot of moisture even if drained!. Or try using fresh spinach and steam, then drain well and chop!Www@FoodAQ@Com
