That's a good question!. The anti-PETA website you saw was created by a front group for the meat, alcohol, and tobacco industries!. The meat industry is threatened by PETA’s success in bringing about animal welfare reform, and it's doing whatever it can to attack PETA!. The meat industry people who created that site don't care about animals at all and are just trying to prevent people from supporting PETA's important work!.

Here's what that group won't tell you:

"You may be interested in the real story of PETA’s work in rural North Carolina!. We began working to improve conditions for animals there in 2000, when we were asked by a police officer to stop local pounds from killing cats and dogs by gassing and shooting them!. We immediately began properly—and painlessly—euthanizing sick and unwanted animals!. We also started to rebuild pounds, provide training for animal control officers, deliver doghouses and warm bedding to hundreds of “backyard” dogs, and much more!.

We are a "shelter of last resort," offering a humane death to animals who would otherwise suffer a slow and painful end!. When animals come to us most of them are absolutely horrible conditions!. They are being ravaged by diseases and have been neglected for months and years!. In these cases euthanasia is clearly the only compassionate decision we can make!. People don't drop off healthy animals at PETA's office (since we don't have an adoption service)!. We deal with the worst of the worst situations!.

The best way to save the lives of homeless animals is through spaying and neutering!. PETA's mobile spay-and-neuter clinic focuses much of its work in disadvantaged neighborhoods, where we offer free and low-cost surgeries!. To date, our clinic has sterilized tens of thousands of animals!."

I hope this helps to clear up your confusion!. Good luck becoming a vegan! I made the switch a few years ago and I've never felt better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

PETA "kills" (euthanasia) most of the animals that they take in!. They are too busy performing publicity stunts to focus on the animals they take in, and end up putting the vast majority of them down (I believe about 2/3 or more)!.

Petakillsanimals!.com isn't the most reliable of sources seeing as they have an agenda (and so does PETA), but there are several sources that have found the same thing to be true!. PETA has also been linked to the terrorist group ALF that fire-bombs laboratories!.

There are several animal welfare groups that are much better (in my opinion) to support than PETA!. PETA just gets the most attention because they do stunts to keep themselves in the public eye!.!.!. usually getting the wrong kind of attention!.

For a more amusing take on the issue, you can watch Penn & Teller's view on PETA!.!.!. otherwise, just do more research on your own!.

I interned for PETA over the summer!. What Orange says is absolutely true!. Until PETA offered euthanasia services in North Carolina, the animals were being shot with rifles or gassed in metal boxes while they were alive and terrified!. The animals died slow, agonizing deaths until PETA got involved!. PETA is just trying to have the animals euthanized in a more humane way than the shelters in North Carolina do it!. peta doesn't kill animals, however their campaigns against animal cruelty tend to be very militantWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure that's a real article!. Anyone could have cooked that up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
