Be kind to yourself!. Do NOT make it a punishment!.

If you find yourself craving chicken, then have the chicken!. Sooner or later your body will adapt to crave "appropriate" foods!.

Start out slowly!. Two or three veggie meals a week!. Progress from there!.

Invest in a few cook books!. Learn a few simple and delicious meals you can whip up for yourself quickly on your worst days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think you're definitely going the right way by asking for advice - a lot of people would go straight into being vegetarian then give up because they think it's too hard!.

i decided to stop eating meat when i was about 12 for ethical reasons!. i gave up JUST meat, i still ate a few products containing animal ingredients such as jelly and sweets as well as fish!. at the begining i did miss meat a lot and was just stubborn about being vegetarian and always thought when i grew up i would go back to meat!. however i gradually stopped eating any meat ingredients after i was used to not having meat!. i also tried to only eat free range eggs, though that is quite hard because you practically can't eat any products with egg when you are out because few places use free range in their products!. i gave up fish about 3 years into being veggie, which was very easy for me by then because i was so used to being able to give things up!. i have now given up dairy - its taken me about 5 years but if i had done it all at once i would have been completely put off by vegetarianism!.

my advice to you would be to do it gradually like i did!. a few months into not eating meat i really wanted to eat kfc so i did - i didnt enjoy it i felt so bad and after that point i knew i didnt want to eat meat again!. though i do not know if i would advise you to do the same about that or to fight the cravings as maybe if you did eat it you wouldnt feel bad about it and start eating meat again!.

basically after a while you will definitely get used to things - checking labels for meat products has got to be the most annoying thing, but i am totally used to it and giving up dairy has even been ok since i am so used to checking what i eat!.

go at your own pace, maybe just reduce to one meat meal a week!? good luck :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I went veg in my 30s, after my body rebelled one time too many against meat I had eaten!. Reading "Fast Food Nation" was another factor!.

So I started reading books on vegetarianism, including the Idiot's Guide!.

There's a good website, www!.vrg!.org, which will give nutritional information!.

What I found out made me decide to go vegan!.

www!.happycow!.net and www!.vegdining!.com list restaurants and natural foods stores around the world!.

And I found a vegetarian society in my area, which REALLY helps!. If there isn't one near your home, try to find a Meetup group!.

Because I was grown up and living on my own, it was fairly easy to transition!. The most difficulty is during some family visits, as I'm the lone vegan!. But as long as I'm in a place where I know there are veggie options, and I can easily access them, I'm fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

!.Your biggest challange I think is eating out!. Although, the menu may look like its meat free, you really don't know if animal anything was used to prepare it!. Get all your b vitamins, as you will not be getting as much of those when you give up meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had a hard time switching because i didn't know how to cook!. My advice would be eat a variety of foods! If you're eating food that you love, you eventually won't even notice that you aren't eating something you used to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

See some documentaries on the horrors of animal slaughter that will snap you out of itWww@FoodAQ@Com
