Isn't it amazing how neurotic we vegans can be about our veganism!? Do you criticize others for wearing leather gifts!? If so, then yes, it is absolutely hypocritical of you to wear these products!. Otherwise, eh, I think you're in the clear!.

I think there are bigger fish to fry out there!. But who am I to judge!? I went vegan because I felt it was the right decision for me, maybe it helps the planet, that would be wonderful!. But there's still some leather in my closet, and some honey in my food!.

I say wear the watch and don't apologize for it- the cow's not coming back either way, throwing it out's just wasteful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That has very little to do with actually being vegan, but more about personal opinion!.

Wearing an animal product that you did not buy yourself or otherwise contribute to the sale of the product does nothing at all to hurt the animal!.!.!. if anything, it would be HELPING the animal because it's death was a little more useful and you're helping the enviroment by not buying a new product!. So if your reason for being vegan is because of animal cruelity, then it should be ok!.

If you are a vegan for other reasons, such as because eating/wearing animals is wrong or just plain disgusting, then you might be seen as being a hypocrite!.!.!. not because you're wearing it, but because you say that it's wrong to use the products and then you use them!.

So I guess it depends!. Hope this helped at least a little!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

In your circumstance i'd say its not!. Because it was already bought, plus you didn't even buy it!. AND it was being thrown away, with means your using it more, so its ok if you wear it!. If you just went out and bought a new one then that would be hypocritical!. And if its symbolic, like your watch kind of, then its ok generally i guess!. But anyway in your case i'd say its ok!. I hope you get what im saying!. And i hope this helped!. =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

I personally would not wear leather, even if as a gift!. If it were something I rescued from being tossed, such as your watch, I'd probably give it to charity or someone who does wear leather!. I don't want to give antivegans any ammo with which to hammer me!.

But many vegans "grandmother" in the leather they got before going vegan and use it until it wears out, replaacing with an animal friendly version!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that, in this context (given that people don't get the wrong idea and start buying you leather gifts!) it's okay to wear the watch!. It's either going to end up put to use on a wrist or thrown away- the milk has already been spilled!.

You are not lessening suffering by throwing it out, and since you do not purchase leather, you are not participating in the problem by wearing it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, it depends on your views and beliefs!. I'm not vegan, but vegetarian, and I won't wear leather!.
If you dont mind it came from a cow, wear it!. If you do mind, put it somewhere where you can look at it and remember that it is there maybe for sentimental reasons!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you would never buy leather products, you shouldn't ware one's given to you!. It's kind of like the mofia boss ordering a killing instead of doing it himself!.

My view on this - Leather is a byproduct of the meat industry, just like oil is a byproduct of dead dinosaurs!.

Well, whether it's "okay" for YOU to wear non-vegan accessories is up to you!.

Personally, I don't understand why you'd even want to own a product that clashes with your ethics, even if it was free!. Would you eat a free cheeseburger!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, if you are really that strict about it - it is!.!.!.
You technically did not hurt the animal, but then again meat eaters did not necessarily kill or cook the animal either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you mean hypocritical!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you eat some beef, then you will know the answer to your question!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes it is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I vote wear it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
