Vegetarian and a Meat Eater.?!


Question: Vegetarian and a Meat Eater!.!?
Here's a hard one!. I'm a vegetarian (very occasionally eat seafood) and my boyfriend is a huge meat eater!. The meals we eat together so we are both happy revolve around chinese and mexican food since it is very easy to omit meat to suit my taste!. We love both but need some more variety!.

I do eat eggs, cheese, etc just not meat!. I don't do 'fake meat' such as morningstar or boca (can't stand the taste)!. Do you know of any meals that are easily transferable for a veg and a meat eater!? Surprisingly I haven't been able to find anything online!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cook things that are separate and serve them buffet-style!. Vegetables, potatoes, rice, meat, non-meat main course!. That way you two can just skip the dishes you don't like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You don't have to make anything obscure or special, and you don't need to replace the meat with a substitute at every meal!. Just omit the meat from your recipe and add more vegetables!.

Try pasta with vegetarian sauce, stir-fried veggies with udon noodles, vegetarian lasagna, chili sin carne, moussaka, soups, stews, etc!.!.!.

I am vegetarian, but my husband is not!. We both still enjoy the following together: mock chicken salad sandwiches, bbq tempeh sandwiches, vegetable stir fry, many pasta dishes, and the Smart line of frozen foods such as smart burgers, smart chik'n patties, and smart bacon (all meat-free)!.

I am married to a meat eater and I am also a chef!. I usually make him a normal meal and we share the sides or I make myself a mock whatever (meatloaf and lentil loaf)!. Try to make your own grain burgers there is a great carrot burger recipe on all recipe!. Italian is a great option!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mexican is great since there are so many vegetarian options!. I'm not quite sure if you mean to cook at home or to eat out!.

I live with my dad, and he doesn't really like meat!. I'm a total carnivore!. Give me steak!. At home we eat a lot of pasta/veg/bean dishes!. Zucchini in lasagna seems like meat, looks like meat, isn't meat!. Portabello mushrooms taste a little like steak!. I don't eat meat on Friday (old fashioned Catholic thing) so I make vegetable soup on Thursday night!. This can be very hearty, especially if you use beans and whole wheat pasta!. I keep boxes of vegetarian stock on hand and use whatever vegetables are hanging around!. Zucchini and yellow squash give the soup a really nice flavor, almost a sweetness!.

You can make a lot of vegetarian dishes that he'll like anyway, especially pastas!. Sometimes I cook ravioli (I only like cheese ravs) in vegetarian stock, along with a big bag of what they call Normandy vegetables!. It's usually a blend of orange and yellow carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, and onions!. The stock and a little parmagiano cheese makes a nice little sauce!. Throw in a can of navy beans to complete the protein!.

I make vegetarian bean chili too that's well received by males!. Saute some onions and peppers, toss in a 14 oz can of chopped or crushed tomatoes, one can each of 3 different beans!.!.!.I like black, garbanzo and navy or kidney!.!.!.and a package of chili seasoning!. Let it cook about a half hour on very low heat, and you'll never miss the meat!.

Tortellini en brodo!.!.!.a bag of frozen cheese tortelli in vegetable broth with fresh mushrooms and peas!. Bring to a boil and simmer until the tortellini are done!.

We eat out at least 3 times a week, and I almost always get steak!. Or a big old breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes!. I think I was supposed to be a cowboy or a farmer, because I want to eat like a hard workin' man!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
