Is lettuce bad for you?!

Question: Is lettuce bad for you!?
My mom once had some digestive problems and the doctor told her that two of the worst foods you can eat are lettuce and black pepper-- because they're very hard for your stomach to digest!. And the other day I was telling my dad how few calories lettuce has, and he said, "yeah, but it's one of the worst things for you to eat!" So-- is he right!? Is it that bad for my bod!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Ice berg lettuce has a high water content, thats really all its made up of!.

No romaine and greener variates are much much better for you, but their are still people who cannot handle lettuce because of their blood types!.

If your an A, B, or AB blood type, lettuce won't hurt you, but if you're an O it may be hard for you to digest!.

People are silly, Pop is horrible for you, so they buy diet pop, and diet anything is worse for you than anything!
Avoid fake foods, stick to naturals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was reading some of the answers and I did not know that lettuce is hard for peole who have blood type O to digest lettuce!. I eat lettuce all the time, like seriously I almost always eat a salad everyday and I have type O blood!. I have no had any problems, but others might!. No lettuce is healthy for you, but the fattening dressing and chicken, etc!. is not! Try fat free and low carb dressing by kraft!. There are healthier types of lettuce!. Ice burge letttuce is not the best (but it still is good for you), but romaine is better (I have a nutritionist, because I am not allowed to gain wait for modeling!. I always eat-romaine lettuce and sometimes if I feel like treating myself I will have iceburg)!. I hought pepper was good for you, atleast that is what my nutrionist says!. She is trying to get me to eat pepper more, because I have a unhealthy obssession over salt (which is creating a weak pulse in my wrists) and she is trying to replace that with pepper!. I know pepper helps digest food also it helps lesson a persons hunger!. No I do not believe either of those foods are unhealthy for you!. Plus, my dad and best friend put pepper on EVERYTHING they eat and I mean everything from hot dogs to chicken noodle soup, etc!. and they put a lot on and they are in perfect health!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Really!. I have never heard that!. I've always heard it wasn't the greatest thing for you to eat {lettuce} because besides spinach leaf lettuce,it doesn't contain really any nutrients!.
And black pepper,I've really never heard anything bad about that,it's a free food, one you can eat plenty of and not affect your health either way!. Foods containing high amounts of sulfur and seeds are hard for the digestive system, what I've always heard!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have no idea about black pepper, but lettuce isn't bad for you!. Lettuce is mostly water, so it wouldn't be hard to digest in the slightest!. I suspect Black Pepper is also probably as harmless as lettuce too!.

Whoever you heard this stuff from was either giving you misinformation because they're a jerk, or was grossly misinformed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends!. Iceberg lettuce, the kind they put on fast food sandwiches is mostly water!. The other kinds of lettuce like Romaine are better, more fiber and greener!. But if the toughness of the vegetable is the problem you should also stay away from celery because the body actually expends energy to digest it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

your stomach contains HCL (hydrochloric acid) and it's pretty good at breaking food down!.

UNLESS: you have a digestive issue which causes you to not make enough HCL or bile in which case there are remedies that help to create bile and HCL!.

So, in other words, lettuce is just fine!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've never heard of such a thing!. Iceberg lettuce is essentially crunchy water, but darker lettuces have more nutrients and fiber and may be harder to digest!. I don't know why pepper would be a problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

veryWww@FoodAQ@Com

i have never ever heard that lettuce was "bad" for you!. it seems rediculous that it would beWww@FoodAQ@Com
