Meat hungry after lifting weights? Question to vegetarian MEN ONLY!?!
Whenever I'm not lifting weights or exercising, I love vegetarian dishes!.
But whenever I'm done lifting weights and long runs, I have this urge to eat meat!. Sometimes I cannot help but to get a steak or something!.
Is this something psychological or is my body reacting and craving for meat protein!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi,
you Troll!.
LOL, saw your comment in the suggestion area, and, just kidding!.
had a buddy very into weights and he would definitely feel compelled to have 2 quarter pounders with cheese when he was done, something about keeping up his carbs!. this was over 10 years ago, and i have no idea what the connection is between meat and carbs!.
perhaps the manly activity calls for meat, arrr!.
perhaps the physical activity is a drain on protein and, as you probably know, the body craves what it needs, and what is a great source of protein!? meat!.!.!. and steak is a GREAT meat, had one last night!.
ANYWAY, i'm a female (<- sorry) former vegetarian, started in early childhood, still go days without eating meat at times!.
when i was a vegetarian there was a sandwich that always left me feeling like i had just eaten a meat (roast beef!?) sandwich - lettuce, tomato, and mayo on whole wheat sandwich bread!. almost always cured the hankering for meat!. i love beef!.
but, unless you have a specific reason for not wanting to consume animals, (i didn't like the thought of killing animals, nothing political about it - i was too young, although now i have concerns about how animals are raised before the slaughter and i will not eat veal or fois gras) go ahead and have the meat if you are REALLLLY craving it!. i mean, you are working out and generally avoiding meats, so the health risks are most likely at a minimum!. i'm not pro-meat or anything, but the body needs what it needs and meat (especially steak - leanish red meat) is the best source of specific proteins, not to be really equalled by any other food source!. if you really don't want to eat meat, try eating something very high in protein and seeing if in a little while the craving has subsided!.
as for the problems you encounter, perhaps you could try posting in exercise or nutrition instead of vegetarian!. as with any empassioned subject (for some), you are bound to come across people too radical to have respect for people who don't think, feel, or act the same ways they do!. if you really feel that your question doesn't fit into any category other than vegetarian, then, unfortunately, you may receive some insensitive and intolerant responses and will simply need to ignore them!.
i suppose i may receive some hate mail myself after this commentary, oh well!. some live and let live, others kill and/or eat, and some let ignorant people's comments roll off their backs!. if some people want to call you a troll because you occasionally eat meat, you have the satisfaction of knowing who is the real troll, and it ain't you!.
hope that helps!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your brain and your body are both involved!. Protein is protein!. You aren't craving meat protein, just protein, and your brain/body is accustomed to getting that protein from a meat source!. If you can avoid the meat and eat beans or nuts when you crave the meat, you'll eventually stop craving meat!.
I'm neither a vegetarian, doctor, dietitian or weight lifter, this gives me more than enough credentials to answer your question!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try eating Hemp hearts, they are full of protein and many other good things, too many to list!. Do not buy the powder, buy the ones that look like sesame seeds!. I suggest eating them with a fruit salad and yogurt!. I lost 50lbs, they may work for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
im not a man, but you'll get over it
i think your body is just craving protein more, which is important when excercising in order to keep up your energy
but if your not vegetarian, it shouldnt matter because steak is good for that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
