Personal preferences aside, if a person wants to be healthy then the person needs to recognize that a human body requires a balance of vegetables, fruits, grains, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds!. Eating widely of the available vegetarian foods provides one with the nutrients a person needs for stamina, health and growth!.
"I don't like vegetables" usually means that they weren't well prepared; they may have been over-cooked, or undercooked or un-seasoned; or it means that the person hasn't had enough exposure to them to develop a taste for them!. I feel very sorry for people whose parents didn't introduce and offer new vegetables early and often, and for those who have never enjoyed them well prepared!.

pasta, cheese, choc is basically all my vegetarian friend would eat!.!.I suggest he try the wide variety of fake meat options they make the soy breakfast sausage, boca burgers!. The tvp (textured vegetable protein found in bulk at the health food stores) can be used in pasta sauce!. Vegetarian or not you still need to eat as much fresh veggies and fruits as possible so go to the natural food store and try new things if you can!. Soups are tasty and he could make that with the veggies he likes already!. Try stir-fry and noodles!. Baked tofu is good and it also comes flavored!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Talk about ironic!. ü Essentially speaking, there are various types of vegetarian diets:

1) Lacto-vegetarianism - a vegetarian diet which includes dairy and dairy by-products

2) Ovo-vegetarianism - a vegetarian diet that includes eggs and excludes

3) Lacto-ovo-vegetarianism - a vegetarian diet which includes both eggs, dairy and dairy by-products

4) Vegetarianism - a diet which excludes eggs, dairy, dairy by-products, meat and seafood

See!? Your friend still has a lot of options to choose from!. Some vegetarians do indulge on the occasional seafood trip, but it's only because of the body's need for protein!. Even still, there are a lot of TVP/vegetarian meat/mock meat products on the market like Morning Star, Boca Boca Burgers and the life!. Even good old tofu, when cooked properly, can have a meaty texture!. Good luck to your friend!.

P!.S!. I do, however, encourage your friend to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables!. They're good for you!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegetarian and doesn't like many veggies!. Big problem!. What he needs to do is start liking veggies!. Sounds a bit dumb I know, but wait a second!. Follow me here!.

If you heat up a can of peas, well !.!.!. yeah, I can understand his concern!. I wouldn't like it either!. But, if you take the can of peas, dice up some potatoes and add curry powder, a touch of lemon, some garlic and some grated hot pepper - what then!. You are not eating peas, but rather your eating an Indian meal!. Add rice and "vola" - you eat your veg!.

Carrots!? Same thing!. Find recipes that include carrots that turn it into something you like!. Add sliced green bell pepper and potatoes and green beans and sliced onions - all with a fajita seasoning and you have fajitas taco night!.

Corn can go into stews and soups and salads and pot pies!.

How about steaming cauliflower until soft, mash with garlic, pepper and add chopped tomatoes for a wonderful sandwich spreed!. I also add white beans to this because they make it creamer!. Add oregano if you want!.

okay, i've been there!.!.!.!.
i thought i hated all vegetables!.!.!.!.we're talking anything that's not potatoes or corn!. most likely your friend's problem is that they don't like veggies when cooked in certain ways!. if some vegetables are cooked too long they can become bitter, and others need a certain texture to be appealing and should only be cooked in certain ways!.
to learn to eat veggies your friend will simply have to give them a try! don't assume you won't like them before you put in in your mouth!. try veggies cooked in different ways, or disguised in other foods!. for example, zucchini is great in brownies!! i know that sounds strange, but there are many ways to get veggies where you almost wouldn't know they're in the meal at all!.
as far as substitutes for vegetables, there really aren't any!. as a vegetarian vegetables give you many of the nutrients you need to have a healthy diet!. you can certainly be a vegetarian without eating vegetables, but don't let your friend write them off completely!.
there was a time when i would not even put a vegetable on my plate, and after trying them in different ways and learning how to cook them to my liking i can now pile my plate high with veggies and be excited to eat them, too =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

there are a vegetatian food products that mimic the texture and sometimes the taste of meat!. I think you can find them online or asian food stores that cater to buddhists!. also your friend has to research the foods that contain the nutrients that he needs so that he can have a balanced diet and not go hungry!. Stay away from junk food!. Just because there's no meat in them doesn't mean its good for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a vegan, and I'm not big on vegetables either!. I only like carrots and string beans!.
I usually eat bean burritos, Amy's no-cheese pizza (mmmmmmmmmmm), Teriyaki Rice Bowls, orange chicken style tofu!.

I'm very picky about veggies myself!. One thing I've discovered is that with certain things I normally wouldn't really like I can handle if they're mixed with other things and/or in a sauce of some kind!. Stir-fries and wraps are two great ways to do this!.
