Can you use active dry yeast rather than nutritional yeast?!
Such as a pizza topping!? I'm going to get nutritonal yeast next time I go to the store but I am making pizza tonight and was just wondering how it would be to sprinkle dry yeast on it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It would probably taste pretty bad! lol!. :)
Although both things contain the word "yeast" in their names, they can NOT be used interchangeably at all! Active dry yeast makes stuff rise when used in baking, put very simply!. Nutritional yeast adds nutrients and adds a cheesey flavor!. If you mix one for the other, you'll be sadly disappointed!. I'd recommend waiting for the nutritional yeast when you go to the store!
Hope that helped! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

NO DON'T DO IT!. Active dry yeast should be developed in warm water and then baked!. It will taste pretty bad (it tastes way different than nutritional yeast) and it may make you sick!.
Active Dry Yeast is used to make things rise or expand!. If you eat it raw with food, your stomach may expand and you will feel uncomfortably full!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it definitely doesn't taste the same!.
I'm not sure about the nutritional content, but the 'cheesy flavor' thats associated with nutritional yeast is not found in baking yeast or brewers yeast (which are each good for what they do but not for topping pizza or making 'cheesy sauces')Www@FoodAQ@Com

Active dry yeast, like the name implies is a living culture, I woudn't eat the stuff raw!. If you put it on your pizza before cooking it the heat will kill the culture, but I'm not sure how it will taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
