Question about soy milk?!
Well, I've noticed that a lot of vegetarians and vegans drink soy milk- I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, actually my best friend is a vegetarian!.
What I don't really understand is this: Does soy milk really help cows!? I mean, if cows aren't milked, they can develop health problems that I think can lead to death!. Or is there another reason soy milk is used- maybe it's healthier!?
I'm not sure!. Input on this!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'll give you an answer I have given many other people:
Cows cannot lactate without giving birth or getting pregnant!. What happens many times is that the cow is artificially inseminated, or they can naturally give birth!. (The cow naturally giving birth of course, creates veal calves, which for once, gives a reason NOT to consume something organic!) If they do give birth, the calf isn't usually kept, but rather shipped off to a veal farm once it is old enough that it does not need to be nursed any longer!. There, it is kept in a pen, in which has little to no room for them to move around!. While her child is being murdered, the mother is having the milk, originally meant for her calf, being taken from her through machines that automatically milk her!. Those machines are used way too often, and cut the udders of the cow, often causing sores that PRODUCE PUS, WHICH ENDS UP IN THE MILK!. So, when you consume dairy, you are taking a product that is not rightfully yours, not made for humans, CONTAINS PUS, and isn't even that healthy, due to the high amounts of saturated fat and calories!.
I don't know about the health problems, and I really won't take any guesses!. However, I think that if the milk was created, it was because the cow was pregnant, and that milk should go to who it was meant for: the cow's calf!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This, you see, depends on where in the stream you wish to stick your oar!.
The natural cycle for our bovine friends is to begin lactating when the calf is due to emerge!. The cow continues to produce milk as long as the calf suckles!. The calf will usually start to lose interest in the mothers milk as it develops a taste for, and the capacity to consume a normal vegetarian diet!.
Cows are vegetarians, you understand!.
So, consuming soy milk INSTEAD of cow's milk helps the cows to the extent that the demand for cow milk is reduced, and thusly the dairy farmers keep smaller herds, incarcerating fewer cows!.
This, as I see it is the real problem, the incarceration and social mistreatment of cows!.
Rather than produce milk for the usual 3-5 months and get a rest; dairy cows produce milk for most, if not all, of their lives!.
Rather than give that milk to their offspring; they are hooked up to machines that "strip" the milk from the cow!.
Drinking vegetable milks (soy, almond, rice, etc!.) instead of animal milks reduces the demand, and therefor reduces the incarceration of cows!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I drink soy milk because I actually like the taste!.
It also comes in containers that keep for a long time on the shelf - so if I can have it on hand when I need it vs!. buying milk and more than likely tossing out most of it cause I don't use it all the time!.
Soy is good for women esp!. when they are over 50 - which I am - I am 54!.
My grand daughter is allergic to milk!. Not having things in the house that she is allergic to makes my home more friendly for her when she visits!.
My son is lactose intolerant - soy milk is a great alternative for him when I am cooking when he visits!.
So - it actually saves *ME* money not to drink cows milk and switch to soy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How do cows die if they aren't milked!?
I've heard this before, but I never understood how their could be logic behind it!.
And I don't drink milk because I think it is nasty to drink something that came from another animal!. I feel that milk should be obtained by drinking it from your mother when you are an infant!. Anything else is not "normal!."
Well it maybe "normal" now since everyone else does it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
