Do tree's feel pain?!
I drove a nail into the tree in my back yard last year, to hang a sign on!. and I noticed today that the tree has built up a layer of bark around the nail, kind of like a blister!.
BTW: I'm a vegetarian and I'm just posting this as a hyerthetical question to see what you all think!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
All living things react to their environment (or they would not be living)!. However, 'pain' is an entirely different concept and applies only to animals as we know it!. When you drive a nail into living tissue beneath the bark, chemical signals induce cell division and growth around the object!. Plants get stressed all the time (heat, drought, etc) but they don't feel pain, at least not the way we know pain!. There might be a completely alien concept of pain that applies to plants, but it would probably be outside human understanding!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not in the way that humans and other higher lifeforms feel pain, but even the lowest forms of plant life have the ability to react to stress!.

We don't know!. Humans are not smart enough to be able to think outside of their own world!. That is!.!.!. a tree can likely see, hear, smell, touch, feel, etc!. but of course in a totally different way than we do!. A tree, for instance could perhaps see everywhere at once; sensing aura!. From our simplistic perspective, the answer is "No!." But the real answer is that we do not know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yeah, I'm vegetarian too!!
Well, they don't have any nerve cells so probably not!.
But then again!.!.!.!.we may never know!.!.!.!.they might feel pain, have feelings, but whatever it is they help us live!!!! (carbon dioxide) so we should always care for them!!

the bark was just the tree adapting to possible harm (because the tree was damaged, more damage, like bugs could get in) so it builds a layer of protection!. But it can't feel the pain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
do some research as to whether they have nerve cells or not, i dont think they do, but they feature a recovery type of action similar to other animals is sealing up puncture wounds and such!.!.!.shouldnt be too hard to find out for sureWww@FoodAQ@Com
a tree cannot react!. So mechanism of pain and feelings is worhless for a tree!.
But you feel more complex emotions than simple pain!. And now you feel guilt!.
And i think im drunk on cough syrupWww@FoodAQ@Com

The tree will try to repair itself as it's a living thing but trees have no pain receptors!. It's a good question, I wondered about it too!.

they may but not on the same level as we do!.!.after all they dont have lungs but they still breath so whos to say they dont feel pain just because they dont have nervesWww@FoodAQ@Com
No!. They don't!. They have no brain to process the idea of pain with a side from anything else anyway!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, so stop eating fruits and veggies, also!Www@FoodAQ@Com
no they have no brain to read pain signals and no nerves to send pain signalsWww@FoodAQ@Com
well i can be wrong but trees don't have a nervous system so they don't feel anythingWww@FoodAQ@Com
