It seems like people who eat meat feel threatened by vegetarians... agree?!
Not ALL people who eat meat!.!.!. but some of my friends who eat meat, when they find out I don't, instantly defend themselves and their eating habits!. I'm a "live and let live" type and I don't try to tell other people how to live!.
It just seems like it's a touchy subject with some people!. I have my own theories, but!.!.!.
why do you think that is!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think it's so much that they feel threatened, but that they see your assertion that you don't eat meat as an implicit criticism of their eating habits!. If you didn't think there was anything wrong with eating meat, you'd do it, wouldn't you!? So then they feel compelled to defend what they do!.
Funny thing is, the other day one of my friends told me that she doesn't drink, and I found myself explaining why I do!. Huh!. You'd think I'd know better!. But it's a knee-jerk reaction, I guess!. (And if it makes you feel any better, I don't think there's anything wrong with my friend not drinking!. I just felt somehow put on the spot!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Perhaps they don't understand the view point of vegetarians!. Perhaps it's because many vegetarians express their disdain of meat eaters or their views!. Perhaps it's a defense mechanism!.
A question that meat eaters could ask, why do so many vegetarians take on a put down mind set towards meat eaters!. We eat veggies and love them just as much!.
Humans have been eating meat from caveman days and will continue to do so!. I do feel for the animals especially in today's world!. They are raised and harvested in many incidences cruelly!. We can do a better job at this but the processors and packer are greedy for higher profits!. It is our responsibility to raise hell to try and change the system!. People are always going to eat meat so change the things we can now!.
I do believe the animals know and that is sad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe it is because of living in the south that I have less problems!.!.!.!.!.!.
People down here don't give a hoot what you eat!. If you go to their home and they offer you something - you tell them you can't eat it - they find something for you that you can eat - no problem!. Most really want to know what I eat - what I cook - how I cook - and if I am full after eating that way!.
Even when I went to a wedding recently - and they had more barbecue then I have seen at any buffet - when they found out that they forgot something that I could eat - the BRIDE was wanting to go and get something that *I* could eat! BTW - I told her that was foolishness - I ate some potato salad that had some things within it that I were questionable, a piece of the wedding cake - but more important that *I* not offend at their special day!.
The only 'threatening' people that I have seen - on the internet!. I have NEVER ran into someone that was so anti vegetarian/vegan as I have on the internet in real life!. I also have never ran into anyone as anti meat eater as well as I have seen on the internet!.
But for those of you that have that problem - I feel for you!. If it is anything close to what I have seen on YA - that would be ROUGH!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only people who have a problem with me being veggie is some people on this forum, not in 'real' life!. Telling me to ''get a cheeseburger!'' will not make me eat meat!.
Some people feel threatened by vegetarianism, because they feel that it challenges their dietary choice to eat meat!.
There's no point getting tied up in arguments, because being vegetarian is a personal thing and has nothing to do with anyone else!.
I do however, encourage everybody to eat what they choose to eat!.
Everyone is entitled to their own diet!. I don't preach, but if somebody enquires about a vegetarian diet I will happily inform them!.
Most of my family are meat eaters, I won't hate them just because they eat meat!.
No amount of criticism will make me eat meat!. I realise I will never change a meat eater's diet, and they won't change mine either!.
Peace!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with everyone else who said some carnivores feel threatened by vegetarians!. My family is a good example!. They have no idea I'm vegan, because the last time there was a gathering and I quietly helped myself to a plateful of vegetables, they blew up at me for not eating meat!. My dad is learning to understand and makes sure to buy Boca burgers for me to eat at family gatherings, but my grandfather went off on me a few times!. It makes no sense why everybody minds one another's business!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not really!. I try not to make a hassle out of it!. However, the area which I live in is pretty open minded to alternative lifestyles!.
I did find that when I went to Atlanta GA, my friend's bf was so ignorant, he didn't even know what a vegetarian meal was!. And he didn't think it existed or something!. Idk!. Maybe he's not a good example!. The guy had his head up his ***!.
Oh yah, and one friend was a little uneasy!. But it was obvious that she had other veggie friends who were veggi nazi's or something!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't ever feel the need to jump up and defend the fact that I eat meat!. Lol!.!. I guess some people have self esteem issues, they feel like there's something wrong with them if they act differently than another person!.
And as for the first girl!.!. I don't think it's because they feel that their eating habits are "gross and unhealthy" and that they're sensitive about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
And as for the first girl!.!. I don't think it's because they feel that their eating habits are "gross and unhealthy" and that they're sensitive about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Because deep down, they know eating meat is gross and unhealthy!. I go out with friends to eat all the time and never mention I don't eat meat!. When people see the healthy food I'm eating, they often look like they feel a bit guilty and then defend their choices as if I'm silently accusing them of something!. That proves it isn't us!.!.!. I don't even have to say anything and they get defensive!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Because vegetarians make a big fuss about not eating meat, rather than quietly abstaining from the "offending" food!. If people weren't supposed to eat meat, they wouldn't have the teeth they do or the digestive acids to process it!. I say everyone should just shut up and eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It depends on your approach!. If you try to preach to a meat eater about the evils of eating meat then they will defend themselves!. I don't eat meat and I have on quite a few occasions felt like I am being looked down upon for my choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think there are many reasons some meat eaters feel threatened by our lifestyle!. Primarily because it indirectly questions their own sense of ethics concerning their own dietary choices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm a meat eater myself, but I think that some people feel as though they're being judged by vegetarians, kind of a holy than thou type thing!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
some vegetarians feel threatened by meat eaters and feel the need to defend their eating habits too!.

I don't know!. Meat eaters are weird!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
ooh i dont know!.

The problem is that most vegans are NOT live-and-let-live types, and we omnivores have to put up with the kinds of crap that the poster above me spew on a daily basis--"Because deep down, they know eating meat is gross and unhealthy" What BS! It's annoying and ineffective, yet they continue!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
the only thing that im threatened by a vegetarian is that they often stink, and have stringy hair and pasty skin, id be afraid if i called one my friend, people would think i hang out with crackheads!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
