Question: How do I get raw lentils or any beans!?
I see some people on raw food diets make raw lentil salads!. I soaked the lentils overnight and they were still hard!. So how do people get them soft!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
when people eat "raw" beans, they're actually sprouted!. The process takes a few days, and the beans actually start to grow a little bit!. The sprouting process neutralizes the "bad" stuff just like cooking does!. Here are some sites with information and directions:

Edit:
here's a recipe for raw lentil salad from Carol Alt!. As you can see, it calls for germinated lentils, which is what sprouting does!.

You must not eat lentils or beans before they are cooked as they contain enzymes which can make you quite unwell!. Lentils do not require as much cooking as other pulses, but still require around twenty to thirty minutes cooking, usually boiling!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If they were still hard in the morning, you should throw them out!. They're stale!. They should be softened up enough to chew by that time!.

But like the other poster said, you should sprout them anyway!. Beans are way more digestible when cooked than when raw!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Boil them like you would soup beans lentils , let soak over knight, then boil with pork seasoning for about an hour, or you can cook them while you are at work in a slow cooker!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you don't eat raw lentils!. they are bad for you!. they are cooked lentils that have been cooled and put in a saladWww@FoodAQ@Com

it takes several days - 5-7
