Soya & Sexuality?!

Question: Soya & Sexuality!?
I have found some so called ''studies'' on the internet about the effects of soya products on men!. Some claim that soya products are ''feminizing'', and one particular source says soya is ''a poison''!.
How can a food product ''turn'' someone homosexual!?
Are such wild claims to be ignored!?

Answers:
These studies are bogus!.

The only reason those claims exist are because phytoestrogens exist inside soybeans, which act like estrogen in the human body!. However, soybeans are not the only phytoestrogen source - they can be found in a wide variety of foods, including certain whole grains, fruits and spices!.

The truth of the matter is, phytoestrogens are incredibly weak!. You would have to consume massive, I mean TREMENDOUS amounts of soy, to have the estrogens affect you!. Even then, elevated estrogen levels in men are linked more to erectile dysfunction, man boobs ("moobs"), impotency, etc!. In fact, men have estrogen in their bodies at all times because it helps regulate testosterone levels and has even been found to help men's memories, and eating soy moderately will probably have no effect on estrogen levels anyway!.

In fact, vegetarian men eat hardly any less phytoestrogens than men that eat meat, if you look at the gigantic list of food sources of phytoestrogen!.

Heck, all men are equally exposed to a very dangerous estrogen-mimicking compound called xenoestrogen!. What's curious to me is that there is no dispute that xenoestrogens should be the real worry - they are the synthetic estrogens present in everything from plastics to cleaners to chemical agents like pesticides!. These are MUCH stronger than phytoestrogen!. And even though xenoestrogens are linked strongly with cancer and other health issues, I have yet to see an article saying that someone will become homosexual because they use Tupperware and plastic wrap!.

Therefore, it wouldn't even be soy to blame as the levels of phytoestrogens in soy are hardly any higher than many other plant foods, and xenoestrogens in things EVERYWHERE around us - plastics, pesticides, etc!. - have much stronger estrogen-mimicking compounds!.

Therefore soy wouldn't be to blame even if chemicals that mimic estrogen in our bodies really were responsible for even a small fraction of homosexuality (which I really and seriously doubt - oh, and it is NOT a choice either)!.

And I really do not believe there is a connection!. Further evidence of that is because men with prostate cancer, certain immunodeficiency diseases, etc!. are treated with or experience unexplainable higher levels of estrogen but they don't "turn" gay suddenly!. There is no evidence of this, period!.

"Studies" like these remind me of other oh-so-scientific (NOT) studies done anytime a group had an agenda to push - in this case, this sounds homophobic, anti-vegetarian, and anti-soy!. It is similar to "studies" done as early as 80 years ago that "proved" black people were biologically inferior to white people and that "red" people and "yellow" people fell somewhere in between on the "savage" scale!. These "studies" are now a "Did You Know!?" piece in history books that illustrates how science isn't always proof of anything, but rather a platform to push an agenda!.

The bottom line is, if someone believes that soy can make them gay, that someone should be concerned that they can become gay any minute now without warning, whether they eat soy or not, just because they eat anything at all (meat is raised on animals fed soybeans and other phytoestrogen rich food, and most plants have phytoestrogens)!. They are also surrounded by much more disruptive xenoestrogens!. So it sounds like they should start being homophobic of themselves just in case, since they might "choose" to "become gay overnight" because they ate something out of a piece of Tupperware!. God, who can write that with a straight face!? *rolls eyes*Www@FoodAQ@Com

As your second link demonstrates, many of the accusations against soy are based on animal studies However, humans and animals differ greatly from each other -- anatomically, genetically, immunologically, physiologically and histologically, right down to the basic cellular structures!. Foods that affect animals in one way can affect us differently!.

You will always come upon a few names whenever you dig a bit into the anti-soy campaign, especially Mercola, Daniel, Fallon, and Enig!. These individuals are all connected to the Weston A!. Price Foundation, an organization that attacks vegetarian diets and promotes diets based on animal foods!. This organization also recommends that people drink whole unpasteurized non-homogenized raw milk!. They have purposely caused a lot of anxiety among consumers and promote lawsuits against food and agriculture interests that disagree with their ludicrous claims!.

I agree with you, it's crazy to suggest that food can turn someone into a homosexual!. I've never seen any scientific studies that support this claim!.

Here's a decent examination of the soy controversy:

Soy is high in female hormones which is actually helpful in women who are experiencing menopause!. However the amounts are so minute that it has no effect on men!. I know many men who are as masculine as ever and drink soy products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is crazy!.
A lot of my guy friends drink soy because they are lactose intolerant and they are not gay!.
Drinking a glass of soy milk won't make a man run for a penis!. lollllWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm ignoring them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
