I someone just told me pickles weren't vegetarian because of something they're soaked in!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Its unlikey, but entirely possible!.

For a while, sainsbury's tinned carrots were not vegetarian!.

Not that i would recommend you eat tinned vegetables, but its just an example that shows vegetarians have to go by facts, and not assumptions!.

Jsut because it doesn't look like steak does not mean it doesn't have slaughter by-products in it!. The meat industry does a great job of ensuring many slaughter by-products are used in food where plant alternatives would be just as good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is no reason I can find for pickles not being considered vegetarian!.!.!.

I don't think this is correct, because pickles are cucumbers (a vegetable) soaked in a solution of brine (a saltwater solution) or vinegar!. And also the only things that are really added to the vinegar or brine would be dill, garlic or something else of the sort!. So I think that this person is just pulling your leg!. There is nothing non-vegetarian about a pickle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Lactic acid is used to make pickles, and it can be animal or plant derived!. (This would only make them not vegan, for vegetarians it's fine)!. In most cases, it's much more likely to be of vegetable origin because it's cheaper and easier!. However, if you're worried, you can call the pickle manufacturer to make sure!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Are you a vegetarian!? Ok, pickles are hundred percent vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

THEY ARE VEGETERIAN THEY ARE JUST SOAKED IN SOME KIND OF WATER BUT DONT WORRY ITS FINE
