Start with google!. Soy is sort of an overkill, tons of other sources of what it contains!. I keep 3 or 4 types of beans in the house, I put them in salads and other dishes!.
I do put a very abundant soy protein powder in my hot cereal!.
My hot cereal contains 24 items that I mix in a big tupperware as needed and scoop out of it every morning!. I have in there various berries, craisins, honey, cinnamon, grains, ground nuts, oatmeal, quinoa, wheat, etc!.
Just that cereal gives me more amino acids and other nutrients than any of you are getting!. I eat that about 6 or 7 mornings a week!. I find a small rice cooker is the easiest way to cook hot cereal, just push the button and walk away!.
Other meals will contain just about anything you can buy except meat!. I did the research to find out how to be a healthy vegetarian!. My browser has about 300 bookmarks from my research!. I looked for things like essential amino acids and their food sources!. If you don't know, amino acids are what our bodies use to make protein the way it wants!. If you look at this site, you'll find tons of plant foods that are abundant in healthy natural protein!. http://www!.whfoods!.org/foodstoc!.php
Part of the solution for me is to be aware of what various foods have in them!. Then I know what I'm getting and when I'm getting the right stuff!.
Other searches were for things like essential vitamins and their food sources!. Essential fatty acids and their food sources!. The list goes on, you get the idea!. The result from all of the research is a shopping list of things to keep around in the house!. I'm not a strict vegetarian!. I still have a weakness for a pizza or a hamburger now and then, but very rarely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Technically, vegetarians don't eat meat from any animal, including fish and other seafood!. Some vegetarians (as well as non-vegetarians) eat tofu and other soyfoods for protein, but there are other ways to get protein as well!. Beans and whole grains are other good, non-meat protein sources!. also make sure to include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and you shouldn't have any problem eating a balanced diet!.
To help you get started, you should look into buying a basic vegetarian cookbook!. They'll often start with an introduction on how to plan your menu and what kinds of basic foods you should stock your kitchen with!. Most bookstores will have a vegetarian section within cookbooks, so go browse around and buy one that looks good to you!.
If you're having trouble transitioning, try cutting out meat gradually!. Start with one meat-free day each week, then once you get more experience cooking without meat, increase your meat-free days until you cut it out entirely!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am an ovo-lacto type vegetarian (not a vegan)!. I eat dairy products and cheese, but not too much of these!. I enjoy tofu and soy products!.
You could either cut out all meat and/or dairy products totally or wean yourself away from them!. I would suggest the second!. It allows your body to adjust!. One of the worst things in any dietary change is to force yourself into too quickly and then you feel deprived and get cravings!. That doesn't work well!.
There are some good recipes here: http://www!.vegweb!.com/
and cooking advice!. As to where to start, try making a list of
dishes you enjoy that are or could easily be vegetarian!. Lots of curries of all kinds take well to tofu instead of meats!. Pasta dishes, too!.
I have avoided flesh eating since 1970!. I always disliked eating meat from when I was little!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
