FLEXITARIAN? Are you serious?!
There is no such thing as a flexitarian!. You are either a vegetarian or your not a vegetarian!. I can't believe anyone would label themselves a "FLEXITARIAN"!. It makes me absolutely sick that a person would say they are a flexitarian!. If you eat meat at all your not a vegetarian!.
I am a pescatarian because I only eat fish and no other type of animal!. I would never call myself a vegetarian because I know I am not!. I would be wrong and stupid if I called myself a vegetarian!.
On the other hand, here you are!. Giving yourself a title which allows you to eat whatever you want and still think you are a type of vegetarian is just rediculous!. If you eat chicken, fish, red meat and all of that you are meat eater- end of story!.
Tell me how you justify the word FLEXITARIAN!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The human mind is a wondrous thing that only knows how to distort and deny!. Obviously people who are "wanna-bes" want to justify their lack of commitment and their guilt over eating their younger brothers and sisters on the food chain ergo 'Flexitarian' and 'Piscaterian' get coined and introduced on a vegan vegetarian site!. Which, I must say, is somewhat better -- though not by much -- than those who arrive here to tout their venom and ignorance as truth in an obnoxiously agressive manner!. So to answer your question they are no more serious about legitimately eating and living in a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle than the man in the moon, they are as you indicated a meat eating omnivore -- end of story!.
And by the way -- thanks for raising the question!. Right on!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are absolutely correct, there is no such thing, and it drives me crazy when people claim to be vegetarian when they occasionally eat meat or foods that contain animal products!.!.!. boggles the mind how they can consider themselves vegetarian!. A true vegetarian I'm sure reads the labels of everything they eat to ensure there are no animal products in it, and I know some people that clain to be vegetarian that not only eat meat occasionally, but don't really check ingredients for animal products either!. I mean come on, if you are a picky eater, just say that!. No need to try to score points with anyone by saying you are something you are not, right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
wOw, I completely agree with you!. It makes me angry to think people can be 'vegetarian' and still eat some meat when they get a little hungry!. People will start to assume that we (the real vegies) can eat a little meat now and again and get served something totally unsuitable in a restaurant!. It makes the rest of us REAL vegetarians or vegans look like plain faced liars!.
You either are something or you aren't! =OWww@FoodAQ@Com

Of course there is no such thing, otherwise I would have been one all of my life before becoming a vegetarian!. Either you eat meat or you don't!. If you don't eat meat you're vegetarian!. If you eat meat once in a while or only certain types, you're a person who likes other foods more than meat but still eats meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
who cares about labels, really!. just have a healthy diet that satisfies you!. i am trying to become a vegetarian!. my whole family is!. but i had a hot dog yesterday (there were no vegetarian lunch items at the small food stand where i was) and i regretted it!. its like smoking, its not something that you can quit cold turkey!. im trying it gradually, because i dont need a label!. all i need is what works for me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There is such thing as a flexatarian, it is when you only eat animals with two legs!. I agree it is VERY stupid!. I'm only 13 and been a vegetarian for a while now!. But anyone decides to a flexitarian, and not actually a vegetarian, and says they dont eat meat, IS STUPID!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I agree!.
There is no such thing as a flexitarian!.
Worringly, people seem to think that eating meat occasionally is vegetarian!. It is not!.
A person who occasionally eats meat is NOT a flexitarian, they are a meat eater!. Period!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The better term maybe be "CONFUSED", either ur a veg or not!. There is no room for gray area here!.
Flexitarian, I have never heard this term but the concept is ridiculous and probably coined by a very confused vegetarian who thinks it's acceptable to sneak a burger every once in awhile!Www@FoodAQ@Com

well you call yourself a pescatarian which is still consuming meat, so how can you give yourself a label and then think its ludacris is someone else does!?
why do you care so much if someone gives themselves a label, after all its just that, it doesnt mean anythingWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yeah!.!.!. sounds pretty dumb to me!.
I once met a guy who said he was a vegan when I was working at a Mexican restaurant a few years ago!. I told him the rice was made with chicken broth and the guacamole was made with sour cream, and he ate it anyway!. Some people!.!.!. All you can really do is say "WTF" and move on!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I totally agree with you!
There is NO justification for that term!
It sounds like something someone made up to make them *seem* like they are only a vegetarian because that is a *trendy* label to call yourself these days, but in reality they are not! =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

WTF!? Are YOU serious!?
Do you want a "I'm not a vegetarian but I'm a pescatarian" badge or something!? Seriously, they are not claiming to be vegetarians!. If they were, there would be no need for the word flexitarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well tbh!. Flexitarian is a term coined by people who can't admit they're not cool enough to sustain a healthy and ethical lifestyle!.
On that point: so are pescatarians!. Fish aren't swimming vegetables chaps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Technically, anyone who's not some sort of vegetarian could consider themselves a flexitarian!. So not only does it sound stupid, it's completely purposeless!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hypocrite!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Its just a label!. I guess if folks sometimes eat meat or fish or any non 'veggie' that makes them regular omnivores!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Agreed!. 100%!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ur rightWww@FoodAQ@Com
I've heard of all these titles and I am glad you realize you are not a vegetarian!. I am and people go through this long list of "Do you eat chicken, fish, etc"
Well how could I be a vegetarian if I eat animals!. I eat nearly vegan but am not vegan but no one here understands the difference so they call me a vegan even though I admit I eat products with minimal or trace amounts of dairy or eggs from time to time!.
I have also heard of flexitarian!. I think it is an attempt to describe how a person would ideally eat when those options are convenient!. But when they are out or at a social function, they will eat meat if they are not happy with the other food choices!.
You know what a vegetarian eats when there is nothing handy that does not contain meat!? They eat nothing! They try hard to carry a granola bar or avoid these chicken feasts of public celebrations!. It's all disgusting and focussed on overeating and I rarely see anyone who looks like they NEED another slab of beef!.
But I think that is why people use that term!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I haven't actually got a problem with the word flexitarian!. It's a recently coined word, but will find its way into a dictionary soon!.
It describes a diet that's largely (usually around 80%) plant based, but which includes some meat - usually fish and/or white meat - or a person who has such a diet!.
It's a healthier diet than many, certainly healthier than a diet that consists of meat every day or every meal, and if those with such a diet want a special little name for themselves, fine by me!.
Personally, I don't find it any sillier than pescatarian!.
It becomes a nonsense when people use it as an adjective in front of vegetarian or vegan, as some people who used to use this forum did, because vegetarian and vegan are words - also fairly recently coined - with specific meanings!.
Saying 'I'm a flexitarian' is ok!. Saying I'm a flexitarian (or flexi) veg*n is nonsense!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hmm!.!.!.
So if one flexes between two completely separate and distinct styles, they can't use the word that describes it!?
Who made you the boss of definitions!?
Get down from your pedestal and go fry a fish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
