I suggest you eat before you leave your house!. Eat enough to were you'll stay full for a couple of hours or so!. If you're the only vegetarian, this may not work too well, but you can always ask the host or hostess to make you a small little something!. Or you could ask if they could bring some chips and dip so you can snack on something small while you're there (And make sure you keep a close eye on the dip!. Some people "double dip!.")
Make sure you get it straight with them that you don't want to eat any of the meat (if you feel that way)!. And also make sure they know that vegetarianism means a lot to you, and that you might make them bring more veggie friendly dishes!.
Or better yet, you can bring your own dish!. And make sure that NO ONE tries to eat what is yours since you bought it!. And the same applies with the dish that the host/ hostess supplies JUST for you!.
Gosh I remember going to a party with my family (all vegans/vegetarians) and the hostess tried to made us a little vege dish!. And everyone (all the omnivores) came swarming around like vultures trying to steal our food! I was so mad because I barely ate anything, and I was starving the entire night (lol)!.
But anyway, you should enjoy your time at the parties you attend, and the person sponsoring the party should try their hardest to insure that all of their guest are enjoying the festivity!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Above all, be polite and considerate and courteous to your hosts!. Their party is not about your preferences!.
If it's a fairly formal sit-sown meal, you should inform your hosts beforehand that you're vegetarian!. Ask if you can bring something to share!. If it's somewhat informal and you're friends with your hosts, volunteer to bring a veggie-nibbles tray for everyone!.
If it's just a snack-and-graze type party, just eat anything that's vegetarian-friendly -- if there's any such thing there!. If there isn't, plan to eat earlier or later and have a really good time talking to folks at the party!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should bring a tray for the party filled with veggie bites, broccoli, califlower, cuccumber, carrots, tomatoes and place a dipping ranch sauce in the center!.
If you cannot make this yourself, supermarkets everywhere -well here in the US- sell them premade!.!.
When you get to the party, just place your platter in the food table for you and all to enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Politely tell them that for personal reason, you don't eat meat!. Don't get all high and mighty, and lecture them on the evils of eating meat, as you would not like to be lectured about eating only Veggies!. You can also bring some veggie food for yourself, that Way6y, you wont get hungry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Cover your bases before you go!. Check to be sure there will be food acceptable to you there!. If people do not know that you are vegetarain, you need to let them know!.
