What should I do? (vegetarian dilemma)?!
I am a vegetarian, and I want to be vegan someday!.(i dont eat lots of dairy now, but i do!.) Anyhow, last year I went to a summer camp and it was really fun, but I wasnt a veggie then!.!. The dilemma is that at camp they serve food like hamburgers, pepperoni pizza, spaghetti, corn dogs, etc!.(healthy right i know) but what do I do about the meat!? Should i just skip meals!?!?
on the last day we have like a boiled dinner with veggies and meat but it has gravy all over it!.!. (made of meat drippings)
I really wanna go with all of my friends and I dont know what the camp councillors will say because we sit at tables with everyone around you so i cant like dump it in the garbage!.
what would you doWww@FoodAQ@Com

Five days isn't too long!. I think you and/or your parents should talk to the camp director and explain that you'd like to attend the camp but you're vegetarian!. Tell the director that you'll need vegetarian meals and you would be happy to bring your own food to keep in their fridge!. The camp should be willing to make accommodations for people with special diets, whether lactose intolerant, kosher, vegetarian, etc!. You could bring packaged foods like Amy's frozen meals and veggie burgers so your meals will be easy to prepare!.
You could also bring snacks like Cliff Bars, trail mix, etc!. to keep with you!. It's really not healthy to skip meals and if you work this out in advance it should be fine!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Being vegetarian isn't anything that exotic and unknown, right!? And probably not everybody at the summer camp eats meat!.
Why don't you call or write to the camp administration and ask if they cater for vegetarians, or if you could bring your own food!?
After all you are paying for the camp, aren't you!? And it is their duty to feed you!. Nobody can force you to eat something you don't like, however they need to know before you arrive!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why not bring your own food!?
Make yourself 5 lunches and 5 dinners (I'm sure there are meatless options for breakfast, no!?), pack them in Glad-ware or Tupperware, freeze them and bring them to camp!. You can bring stuff like vegetarian chili, pasta with marinara sauce, stir-fry, curries, etc!.!.!. stuff that freezes and re-heats well!.
Best of luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would definitely still go and bring my own food AND/or try to get ahold of the camp counselors before camp and explain to them that you are a vegetarian!.!.!. they could most likely put together some good sandwhiches for ya!!?
I've had to go through it before!.!.!. You can do it! DONT SKIP MEALS!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If all the meals involve meat, you're going to end up with nothing to eat a lot of the time!. Your parents should discuss this with them in advance to make sure you've always got something healthy to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Ask the camp if they would be willing to offer you a veggie option, or just take some PB&J with you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
